Some server hosts have apps for the ipod, ipad, android, etc.  If your talking about actully hosting and running it off an ipod, its impossible.

I would not say you can't do it. But the real question is why would you want to do it. The hardware you are working with on any iphone or ipod is under powered for any kinda of server. And even if you could make that work you would be dealing with cell phone connection speeds, bad ping times, and data caps.

He means control the server outside the server. Check the chat, promote ban, etc.

You can only control a server on a phone.

MCMA iPhone Client - Control your server from your iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad

Description

Control your Minecraft multiplayer server powered by McMyAdmin via iPhone and iPod touch. Live tracks the server status, start, stop and reboot the server, interact with in-game chat or create backups from everywhere you want.

Why, hell no.
iPhone/iTouch/iPad don't have enough RAM.

Seeing a minecraft server hosted on an iPad/iTouch/iPhone would be cool.

It would be nearly impossible to run it off of one.

iPod Touches have 256MB of RAM actually. And I wouldn't say it's impossible, just very impractical.

Maybe a bit late....

But i have almoste a server running!

What you need
- java
- iFile
- mobile terminal

Then just put the jar file in de /private/var/mobile folder
And than run it with the command in Mterminal

But i encounterd one problem, java cant bind to a port
If you fix that problem evrything should work

I will updat this post later with a vid!

You would have to somehow install java, and even if you did, there is barely enough ram for the server to run. Now, for the pocket edition, that IS possible, because you are able to play multiplayer over your local wifi.
please vote for my server, its easy, and means a lot!

I have proved ALL of you wrong except for cmw255. So what I did was
1.Jailbreak (Duh...)
2.Mobile Terminal
3.JavaVM
4.Started the server via mobile terminal

It doesn't acutely start on my iPad 1, but it is a step away...
Here is the log:

As you can see by the top line it say 'Not enough RAM'
No surprise there...

When I tried bukkit I got port bind errors.
I restarted thinking it could be that the old server is some how running still.(?)

I guess this is progress?
