The crafting table is too small to realistically build a boat, and then carry it in your pocket.

Here is a possible solution:

You can currently build immovable houses from logs. This principle is retained, but only when building on grass, mud or rock - If you build a log structure on sand or gravel, it loses it's friction, and you can push it.

You then simply need to find a sandy beach, lay down a 3x3 square of logs, [EDIT] and push it onto the water.

As for propulsion, cloth sails would look a little 'chunky'. Maybe you could craft an oar from wood, back on your crafting table. Then, if more people climb on and row, the raft's speed increases ... Raft races!

Support.

As for propelling, I'd rather just make it so that when you push it into the water, or while it's inside the water, the inertia is maintained, and you can push it while inside of it. (by running into one of its sides.)

The last part is not super-realistic, however, it's a common convention in first person games.

Boats should be  mob like in design.

Not a block pile.

The reason I say this is because mobs already can move and stuff.

OK, that's fair enough, so how about this:

Rafts can only be built in of a couple of different designs. Once you have built the correct shape on the sand, it is instantly replaced with a 'mob' version that looks exactly the same. This version is pushable.

But there'd have to be a method of activation, because some day someone may accidentally make a part of their beach house the same way a boat is made.

What if we would make raftlogs from 3 woodtrunks in the crafting table, and then we'd build the raft at the beach from  raftlogs?

How about we create the boat from 3 seperate sections, a front, a back and a sail. And then we place those 3 pieces together on the crafting bridge and we have a bridge. That creates a grid which is technicly 9x3

or have them be entities such as mobs/paintings.
I think that to make large structures you should have to craft a large crafting table out of 4 crafting tables.
you could make bouts and such on this table.
but you would need to build seperate parts like the sail, the oars, the logs,etc.. etc.

You can't really push a house, can you?
-1, but I'd like it if it could only be pushed into the water with some certain thing or only if it was created in a certain form.

you think a deity that the OP may or may not believe in is going to smite him for making a Minecraft suggestion that you have deemed bad?

how ludicrous

Please, before you go bashing a topic, list your reasons for dislike, or alterantly, say what you would change to make it better. I feel that the idea needs more thought before I can give helpful suggestions.
