Some friends and I just started a new world on our SMP server in order to enjoy the new world generator.

I'd like to be able to input the seed for our world into a map viewer program, and see what different regions of the world look like BEFORE I go out exploring. This would allow us to b-line straight to locations we find interesting without having to explore lots of uninteresting areas first (and thus making the world size increase dramatically - taking up more memory on the server).

Is there a program out there that would let me do this?

Thanks in advance.

It doesn't matter what game you play, as long as you have a good time when playing it and that it is a game that is good(if you want to know if the game you're playing is good, just ask).

Lol dat_england.

As far as I know there isn't a tool that exactly copies the minecraft generation system, Perhaps try different seeds in single player and explore to find interesting areas.

Maybe someone is still interested in this (this thread is 3rd on Google at some seed-related searches): AMIDST is able to generate a map of a seed without exploring first: http://www.minecraft...ome-ect-finder/
