Do they? I want to make a fall trap for mobs but I dunno if they can climb half slabs.

EDIT: They can climb half-slabs, but what can they not climb?

I do believe thats why he wants to now. Because if he inserts a ring of half slabs around about the middle of the fall trap, he wants to know weather it would stop spiders from scaling it.

Well, I made the spawner in the air. They are supposed to fall down a hole, down to the main land. And nobody answered my question yet. But I don't want Skeletons to shoot at me, I know that they can shoot though hlaf-slabs, but I am just wondering.

They can't climb glass. I'm certain of that.

Did a test, looks like spiders can climb glass and half-slabs. :( Still wondering if there is any blocks spiders cannot climb.

Put ladders a few blocks up on the walls. Ladders stick out, so they'll stop just below them, and either hang there or drop back down.

I think you need to make the hole bigger. Anything that will keep them from going up a 2x2 will likely keep them from going down too.

I've heard they can't climb Netherrock.  Ofc this doesn't help you doing Skyblock.  What about signs?

I too am doing Skyblock survival and did the drop.  I just deal with getting shot tbh(which is odd how accurate they are with a bow during free fall).

make your spawner a bit far away so skeles dont shoot at you.

If you want to go afk, probably you can make water canals to bring the loo to you, i believe the weater-over-fences glitch still works.
PostAblindmind1:Tnt can also be uses to see caves underground...unless they removed that bug.
Malacodor: With enough TNT you can see caves without using bugs.

I don't think there's a block spiders can't climb. Yes, skeletons can shoot through a 0.5 block high gap. If this is supposed to kill the mobs, there's an easy way of doing that:

:Blue: = flowing water
:Frame: = a sign
:Notch: = where you stand to collect drops
(cross section)

:soil: :soil: :soil: :soil: :soil: :soil:
:soil:
:soil: :: :: :: :Skeleton:  :SSSS:
:soil: :Blue: :Blue: :Blue: :Blue: :Blue:
:soil: :Blue: :Blue: :soil: :soil: :soil:
:soil: :Blue: :Blue: :soil:
:soil: :Blue: :Blue: :Blue: :Frame:
:soil: :soil: :soil: :soil: :Notch:

This won't kill endermen btw. If you want to kill endermen you'll have to raise the ceiling. It does kill spiders.

top view/cross section of layer 2 (where the loot is transported to you):
:: :Frame:
:: :soil: :Blue: :soil: :soil:
:: :soil: :Blue: :Blue: :Blue: :Frame:
:Frame: :Blue: :Blue: :Blue: :soil:
:: :soil: :soil: :Blue: :soil:
:: :: :: :Frame:

It seems like mobs can escape from this if you save and load, so make sure you build thick walls.
This signature is now 20% cooler. That's what I'm counting on.

Spiders can climb ANY solid blocks. The games code states that if spiders are colliding from the side with anything solid they will act like they are climbing ladders.

So basically, all blocks act like ladders to them.

Try putting signs on the sides. That may confuse the spider's pathfinding, preventing it from climbing. Also, i think soul sand may prevent them, but i might be wrong.

what im working on right now is spiders spawning on a ledge activating 2 pistons that push spider over edge and also activates 2 pistons below that close the  hole three high from the ground while the 2by2 space bellow is safe... (ill get a picture if you need it) i got it to work for cave spiders and i almost have it complete for normal spiders hope you understand bye

Keep in mind spiders can only climb a height of 3 to 4 blocks. If you make a wall 6 blocks high, you're probably safe.

Also note that they are 2 blocks wide and 1 block tall, so they can't fit into a 1-by-1 space. If you search up spiders on the Minecraft Wiki, I'm sure you can find more information!
