is there any "easy" way to add a texture pack that WE make to our OWN installs? id like to add specific pack/packs to mine, but it might be days/weeks before a PE version gets made, if they even do get made
Currently I'm not going to be able to add a feature to add your own texture packs to the program, there are to many files that need to be changed(not just the terrain.png, the GUI can/should also be changed). Maybe in the future once I get the online version working I could tinker around with people submitting their own texture packs, but that isn't going to be soon. Also, I would convert texture packs to PE version but I don't want to get into any trouble, and I'd rather they do it so I can see how creative they are for PE.
I already mentioned this, I don't have an iPod, $7 to spend on Minecraft PE for iPod, or a mac or a hackintosh compatible computer. Plus, if I did make this, I'd have to get past Apple's review process and learn a whole new language(objective-c). The Apple community has alot of users so someone might fill this role for me, and by the time I got a Mac, a iPod, and got it accepted, someone else would have made one. Someone should make a program to automate the process on a computer, if need-be. I'd want to make some return if I went through all the effort.
This should be sticked to the front page of Pocket edition forum
If it gets a sticky, I would rather it be when an Android subforum and a iOS subforum are placed. Because currently having the two merged is a bit..
By the way, I plan on only updating the version for the full version of this app as I've lost my demo version source (willingly) and the demo edition wasn't getting many downloads anyway.
Also, the next release of this app will be planned around the time of a new version of Minecraft PE, I'll deploy an update to support it then I'll add my major update which incorporates online texture packs.
Make it so it does not need root i know how to do it i just don't void my warranty...
Won't happen. The only way to do that would be to sigh the Apo and have it overwrite. I could pre-modify the app and then have it download it... But that would be illegal-ish.
Sucks that the update came around now though.. I'll post my plans tomorrow when I get on my laptop.
Hello good sir. Im on my galaxy s2 and ive only had this phone for just over a week and still getting use to it. When i download the latest version and install it, it automaticaly installs to the sd card or what ever it is. So it crashes when i attempt to open it saying its it couldnt run as a root.So how do i instal it to the internal memory.
Couldn't get on a computer (posting from my tablet).
Anyways, the problem is that I could never get modifying the apk to work so all the app does is switch it out. I'm thinking about just modifying the apk, signing it, and have the app download that and install it. That would eliminate requiring root but then would make it more like a "market"..
Actually I decided to start working on this now. It will pretty much be a "market" of texture packs - modified APKs with the textures. It won't require root. Problem is, what sort of legal issues could I run across?
Edit: I need to decide on a new name. One that isn't to long.
Suggestions? Currently leaning toward "PE Texture Packs" (so original >_<).
Edit 2: Twitter! I will update it with development progress. :happy.gif:
no results fer yer twitter dude, i saw it updated but all it really did was add cactus bit dissapointed, any news on other texture packs ive asked a couple

Okay!
Good luck on the PC! I just sold the PC I built 7 months ago(to my dad, :tongue.gif:).

My site(studiozio.us.to) will be offline for a while, I had to change hosts, I need to wait for the nameservers to update.
Any change in texture packs wouldn't effect performance unless it was 32x+.
Nobody has made one of those yet though.

Oh i have got it rooted its just the app wasn't working but i got it to work. So the app works for the Mytouch 4G
I don't have an iPod to develop for nor do I have a Mac to develop on - nor a Hackintosh compatible system.

I've decided on the name as:
"MC PE: TexturePaks"
It should be small enough to work properly. Thoughts on this as a name?
It needs "MC PE" in it. Or something to note that it is for the PE edition.
So maybe instead of MC PE: TexturePaks it could be MC PE: Textures?
Also, the new version is coming along smoothly.
