Part I

Part II

Featured Maps:

Operation Firestorm

Operation Metro

Grand Bazaar

Caspian Border

Damavand Peak

Seine Crossing
Noshahr Canals
Kharg Island
Tehran Highway

-----

Damavand Peak will be the best map, by far... For Rush anyway!

DESIGN THOUGHTS: Damavand Peak, internally known as Base Jump, is built on the idea that we want players to be able to base jump, and features our most extreme height differences ever in a Battlefield map. Attackers in Rush and Squad Rush will start high up on a mountain ridge above a mining facility. The only way down into the valley is to somehow make the 500 meter descent. The further the attackers progress in the map, the more vehicle warfare will be present. There is also a large tunnel section dug into the mountain side at the bottom of the map, and the view when you look up at the starting location is spectacular.

Yeah, so I've heard many, many times. lol

I never got to play the PC beta. Would have been good if Caspian Border was available for the consoles.

Agh well... Only 11 more days until I can play it.

I played very little battlefield 2, and a significant portion of Modern Warfare. I see there are some differences such as vehicles and whatnot, but overall they seem quite similar. Can someone explain to me what it is exactly that makes Battlefield better?

This is not to invoke a flame war, I am legitimately curious to see what it is that sets Battlefield apart from other games of the modern FPS genre.

Grand Bazaar feels great to me for tank surprises, due to the fact there's lots of buildings and a road fit forr the tanks as well.
Firestorm... eh, feels a bit like Heavy Metal from BFBC2 due to the fact the flag distances are so wide as well as flat areas, but this map has more vehicles for traveling use so that map's probably gonna help me get most of the vehicle perks (I played the Console Beta so I don't know if there are still vehicle perks or not, I didn't even obtain that robot for Recon class)

Operation Metro, yeah, I can tell you it's gonna be easy if someone planted a radio beacon somewhere hidden near the attacker's deployment area if you're part of the defensive team (trust me, my stranger squadmate did that and I just abused and shot so many people in the vent area cuz there's was a radio beacon situated there for them attackers)

Kharg Island sounds cool to me, maybe there's gonna be lots of boats lying around so we could flank the attackers or something.

Anyway, I'm waiting for launch cuz I reserved mine for it as well as Uncharted 3 but I didn't get the limited edition cuz I had to pay an extra couple of bucks just for it and a t-shirt as well, but meh, I'm still waiting for it, hopefully a special edition that's cheap like the BFBC2 Ultimate Edition though I was a bit pissed cuz I bought that edition RIGHT AFTER THE EXPIRATION DATE OF ALL THE CODES, yeah I don't want that experience again. (VIP code only worked.)

Well, haha, of course. I mean to say that since I have so little experience I could not see what it is that sets battlefield above the others. I was hoping someone may be able to put it in words? As I hear it invokes more strategy, how so I'm not sure, but with the arsenal of vehicles and the size of the maps I guess I can see part of that.

The unique destructability of the maps, huge maps even bigger than the "huge" maps in CoD, less campers though those camping are worse because in the BF3 and BFBC2 I have seen many moments where people spawn camp. For instance, BFBC2, in Atacama Desert, every single person in a Hind, I hate them cuz they sometimes spawn camp on my team's base or the opponent team's base. Can't they just help rather than increase their death ratios.

See my previous post in this thread for the example of spawn camping in BF3.

EDIT: The strategy part is using the select button (PS3, i dont know for the others) to spot the enemies, as well as using it on your squadmates/teammates to assist you or give you ammo or health or fix your tank.

You can assist in that manner? That's certainly interesting.  One of the things I enjoyed in CoD were the controls and animations. The controls felt clear and responsive, while the animations and visual effects were smooth gratifying, if sometimes, distracting. The Battle field I played felt a bit more like Counter-Strike which feels odd to me with it's exceedingly sharp control system and rough visual design.

If you played BF3's beta, you would know the ANT system from the FIFA games, and I have to tell you that it's very effective with the animations. When your teammates turn right, they look as if they ARE turning and other things that seem hard to explain.

Yeah I agree.

Basically CoD is the old arcadey unrealistic run around romp shooting people game, and that I think is why it attracts so many young players.

Battlefield is more realistic in a warfare sense, and has a more strategic gameplay plot than "Shoot X", and that is why I like it more. Plus the Battlefield games are really good looking, where CoD looks the same every year :/

Hmm yeah, I admit I had quite a bit of fun with Modern Warfare, but at prestige 7 I finally said, "What's the point anymore? Half of this game is luck." and quickly dropped the game. Maybe it's that I hadn't played many shooters before it, so it came as something new and exciting.

Yeah same, when i first got my PS3 I got the original Modern Warfare and loved it, but after a while i got bored (once i had spent 100+ hours on multi) but i never got bored of the campaign, that was awesome! :D

I simply got MW2 to continue the story, and I suppose the story was OK, but nothing compared to the original :(

Never bought CoD since, and probably never will again, as for me it would be a waste. I will buy Battlefield 2 simply because I loved Bad Company 2, and I loved the BF3 beta :P

I can not wait for battlefield 3 to come out,
also is it just me or is most for the people on the forums just hate Cod?
95% of teens would scream if Justin Beiber was about to jump of the top of the Empire State Building. If you are in the 5% that would grab a seat and some popcorn and yell JUMP! JUMP! JUMP! post this into your sig.

Not all. A lot of kids swing the other way, In favour of CoD.

I don't hate it... I just don't like anything about it.

I can tell 80% of kids trying to migrate from CoD to BF3 are pretty much failures. Yeah, I've seen comments where people are complaining that the beta sucks. That it's full of bugs. WTF, the point of the beta is for bugs not the entire product itself jeez.

Anyway, anyone wanna join me in a squad soon and then we'll probably play on Grand Bazaar or Metro?

These maps looks aweosome!!! I loved the beta (despite the squad issues) Some of these maps look far too big imo, but I guess that's what the vehicles are for. Less that 2 weeks to go!!! Can't wait to play the 4 bonus maps. Wake Island looks great.

I can't find the article, but someone at DICE said that you could fit 3 Atacama Deserts into the map Operation Firestorm. Now that is big! Of course, more than half of this area will only be for Jets & Attack Helos.

Seriously? Wow, gunna take forever to get around on foot then :P. Will the maps be the same size as on PC to console? It's just the amount of players isn't it?
