Hey everyone. I'm new to the forums and wanted to show you something that I've been working on for few evenings now. I just recently finished playing through Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 and came up with an idea of doing a Minecraft version of one of my favourite places in ME2, Nos Astra.

I used ME2 in-game map as a base for the Minecraft level to get all the proportions right and ran ME2 in window next to Minecraft to check out that all the detail would be in correct places. All the textures are 100% hand pixeled by me. There's a lot more done that you can see in the screenshots, but I want to finish rest of the places, tune the textures and lightning before releasing the map to the public.

Are you going to release the map/textures? When is the map done?
I will release both the map and the texture pack when I'm 100% done with them. I'm updating this picture below to keep you up to date where the map is going.

This project is currently uncontinued.

Download unfinished version here (contains texture pack):

Not a huge fan of ME2, just for the simple fact it makes my brain overload because I'm so indecisive with story choices xD but the graphics and game overall seems wicked to me.

That though, right there.. Is SICK. I guarantee you, that people will want that texture pack :)

Looking good man :)

Kas's Painterly Pack - Nice 16x16 Texture pack.
Steampunk Pack - Steampunk textures.
Frenden's Texture Pack - Nice simple 16x16 texture pack.
Alchemy - *drool* Yesss...

All I can say is: HOLY SHIT I JUST SHAT BLOCKS
This looks amazing, although I'm not sure if I'd actually use the pack as much as I love it. Since well, this is Minecraft I'm playing, not Mass Effect :3
Anyways, great idea and so far it seems very well done too. Keep up the work and I'll definitely try it out if you release it though!

Also: Damn you for making me want to play ME1 & 2 again!  :iapprove:

Can't wait to get a taste of that texture pack (and map!) when you decide to release it.

This isn't so much about the textures, but the map itself. You can't really start a new Minecraft game with the texture pack or some things will look really strange.

I'm not sure what you mean by working, but I'm running out of blocks to do any more unique textures. I'm going to build the exterior of Normandy though.

Here's a work in progress picture to give a better look of the scale of the level.

What resolution are those textures?  They are not 16x or 32x, so that leaves 64x, 128x, or 256x.

Laterz.

The whole terrain texture map is 256x256 (default) and a single block texture is 16x16 pixels.

These textures are amazing at 16 square. I hope you enter Notch's texture contest, you're very skilled.

Sure doesn't look like standard resolution.  Oh well, that's a good thing I guess.

Keep up the great work, laterz.

Worth reiterating: Excellent attention to detail, I'm very impressed. Please, please, please release this texture pack! Or at least give it to the droogs who made the SS Enterprise...
