Having seen many videos featuring Vech's super hostile maps as well as his Race for Wool maps, I decided to follow in the spirit and make my own PVP Race for Wool map..
Introducing:
Race for Wool: Teams Forged in Flames
This map uses the starting area and a few pieces of Vech's CTM toolkit. As with his RFW maps, this is designed for 2 teams of 2-4 players. The rules are the same. Feel free to make comments or suggestions on this thread!

- Fixed redstone issues broken by Minecraft v1.0. Fix your game Notch!
- Buried supply room in a bunker. Opposing teams should no longer be able to blow it up, dumping the items and crashing/lagging the server immensely.

- Redid final area to make it harder to bypass. Thanks to YouTube user aeneasfate for the tip.
- Redid final area trigger to ensure the event starts

- Added more melee weapons to starter chest
- Where did all the ore go from the mine? Well, now there is a storage room on the surface, chock full of goodies for players to utilize... the map was a gatherfest, and this was unintended. Should no longer be necessary to harvest blocks with the new storage shed. Sure hope the other team doesn't blow it up!
- Added spawning areas in areas inaccessible by players to eat up some of the game's mob cap. Many areas had massive amounts of spawns and this was due to no spawners at all, just natural Minecraft spawns. Hopefully these areas will make the spawns in the actual play field a lot smaller.

- Moved spawners in first wool area to be more accessible to players. You can now destroy these instead of having to light the area up.
- Added "emergency void lane barrier supplies" to second wool area. Was intended that the players try to make a wall in the void lane to progress in this area but supplies were obtained in a separate area. Now they are consolidated.

- Added lighting to many areas to reduce spawns. A lot of areas were WAY out of control, especially at night.
- Sealed off 1st wool room - it is no longer possible to dig right down to it from the surface and bypass the 1st puzzle area
- Added ladders to second wool puzzle "Catacombs". Should be easier to traverse this area now
- Added 'hidey-holes' in catacombs area. Players won't be as easy to pick off now.
- Toned down final hallway in catacombs area.
- Added more chests with blocks to bridge gap area. Farming blocks in a race is no fun!
- Widened lanes in final wool puzzle area. This area was intended to focus more on teamwork than getting shot (you can still shoot, but team now has an option of adding a wall to block your arrows)
- Added instructional signs to final area on how to complete the area.
this looks fun.
i would like to see one that is incredibly big. as in, you feel like you are playing one of the actual vechs super hostile maps in a tiny lane against people.
so if you want to do another, i think it would be really cool.

Well I would except i think the spirit is that it can be completed in 1 sitting in about 2-4 hours. If one were made to be larger than that, a lot of things would not be possible such as some redstone circuits that require clocks and such. Still... would be worth looking into, if you have any ideas?

Grammatically as a complete sentence you would be right, however it was originally called "Race for Wool" as a title so that is what it remained. I will however change the title from PVP to RFW

I've started playing through this in Single player (Because I can't host a server and this map definitely deserves a play through.)
So far it's pretty awesome although I haven't gotten very far
I got the wool from the Creeper area (The creepers surprised the heck out of me when one spawned right behind me) and am now sitting at the front gate to the castle. May I ask what the TNT near the start actually sets off? I couldn't tell.
I feel that the ocean at the start might slow down the start a quite a bit. I doubt people would have bow fights underwater.
This is a really fun map so far (Although it would be much more fun in SMP)

Ok...
TNT near the start is part of the gearbox trap. Its supposed to make the beach area harder to pass through if you die without a spawn set farther ahead via a bed.
