Part One of The Trailer:

Premise:

Imagine: Eulyros. More than just the newly settled land of three powerful political entities and countless natives. Eulyros is the idea- that rules and systems should NOT limit the imagination if the will of the player is strong enough. True- Eulyros is a speck of land, north of Arminia (the home to Kusalom, the Church, and Landoria) but it is also the playground of the Minecraft player who yearns for a land to make it what they will! Eulyros is freedom in an RP server. So then, will you become a fierce native fighting for his homeland, a brave Kusalomian or Landorian settler looking to conquer the vast riches of Eulyros, a righteous paladin of the Church of The Holy Cube, or something else entirely!? YOU DECIDE.

The Settlers of Eulyros:

The Kingdom of Landoria:

Posted Image

This kingdom represented the heartland of the Old Country. It stood for the whole of Arminian agriculture and other nature-based industries. It had a thriving population and a militia based army that could be called to action by King Elessar Shadow-Hunter in times of need- in addition to the professional army of its vassal, The Duchy of Kusalom. After years of unprecedented growth (usually by peacefully absorbing neighboring states into the whole, while largely leaving them intact) and prosperity, it began to stagnate. A desire to, “keep things as they are” lead to fewer and fewer expansions and new laws. Eventually several of the vassal states split off from the Landorian government and declared their independence following the death of King Elessar. Though this had been building for some time, it happened so suddenly that the new King Everin was unable to rally his civilian army to retake the states before they became established by themselves- or worse. . . be absorbed by the now independent Kusalom.
Weakened by the loss of their vassal states and struggling to hold the core heartland together, the young King Everin called upon his officials to invest heavily in the military, a faucet of Landorian life that had always been an-aside, or an afterthought within the royal court. Pouring a vast fortune into a more professional army with the highest quality weapons, armor, and training facilities, the King’s gambit succeeded in creating a force capable of holding its own- and defeating the longstanding military traditions of neighboring Kusalom. Therefore, the former vassal-states of Landoria, wishing to avoid a military takeover by Kusalom in the future, (as many of the former vassal states held no favorable opinion of the Kusalomic administration’s expansionist attitude); signed renewed vassal-treaties and trade agreements with their former, and now current, parent and quickly flourished under a renewed Landorian banner, their taxes going to the impressive Landorian war-machine.
Having annexed nearly all of the states that declared independence during the latter years of the reign of the great King, Elessar Shadow-Hunter; his successor cast off the Kingship and enthroned himself as Emperor Everin Shadow-Hunter in the year 545. Now, her strength recovered, and indeed- greater than ever, Landoria seeks to conquer the rich lands of neighboring Eulyros.
To that end, Everin commanded the fielding of an expedition in 548 to be placed under the command of the celebrated veteran Landorian commander, Madfast Hillborn. As the expedition set out to the North they encountered little resistance and construction began on the Capital of New Aidolon, in memory of a land from Landoria’s past, long abandoned. From this new city- the influence of Landoria could not be denied, soon the entirety of Eulyros would be under the command of a grand Empire.

Then again. . .

The Duchy of Kusalom, once a stalwart ally of the Landorian Kingdom, fell away from its subservient attitude following the death of beloved Lord-Duke Nicholas Fandon in the year 540, and in 542 it too seceded from the Kingdom and set out to conquer the lands of its fellow vassals. The Wars of Kusalomic Annexation lasted from 542-545, and when they were completed both Landoria and Kusalom emerged as the two dominant powers of Arminia, having split the land between them. Emboldened by his success and envious of his Landorian counterpart, young Lord-Duke, Dorian Agalor Fandon, proclaimed himself Emperor of Kusalom and began to greedily monitor the more temperate lands that belonged to the Landorians for any sign of weakness.
Then it isn’t any surprise that as the Landoria Expedition prepared for its sojourn into Eulyros, a counter-part was being created in Kusalom. To be led by the Emperor himself- a force of the fearsome Kusalomic Knights, builders, laborers, architects, and some of the greatest scientific minds marched northward, and with great bravado they built an Imperial highway from Kusalom Keep as they went to send a message to Landoria: “Eulyros belongs to Kusalom.” Settling deeper into the country then the Landorians- and locating the vast snowy peaks way up in the hinterlands, the capital of Vhor’Daen was founded.

Church of the Holy Cube:

The Church of the Holy Cube is an ancient organization that predates most of the known kingdoms of today. It has roots in some of the earliest texts of recorded history, and its influence is far-reaching. The worship of the Church focuses around a holy block, the first block, through which the rest of the world is formed by the Gods. Though both Landoria and Kusalom rule themselves, they both host the Church of the Holy Cube as their state religion and have numerous temples, cathedrals, and churches throughout their settlements.
Many years ago, an enigmatic man named Bael Shadesorrow rose to the office of High Priest, and The Church changed dramatically under it. It has taken a much more active (and even aggressive) stance in current events, moving from subtle suggestions to subtle mandates. Over time the Church has grown into a sort of nation in its own right, even going so far as to move its headquarters from Marseni (the capital of Landoria) to a new holy city. As its influence continued to grow, the reigning High Priest became as much a player in politics as the leaders of both nations. The Church's power continued to grow unabated even through the schism between Kusalom and Landoria and their eventual peace, due mainly to the fact that Bael continued to lead the church with a strict lead for many more years than it is natural. Rumors abound that the High Priest was either not human or extending his life through unnatural means, though little if anything is known about his personal life or details. All that Bael has said to adress these rumors is that the faith and furore of the Church and the Holy Cube sustains him.
Because of its close ties with both empires, the Church was inevitably brought along with them both as they expanded to the new world. Church Priests accompany the leaders of both factions wherever they go, subtly trying to manipulate the course of events in favor of The Holy Cube. The church has no official settlements in the new land besides its bases within Kusalomic and Landorian towns, though rumors abound of a holy city called Ipsus being constructed out in the wilds.

The Law:

#1- No griefing: includes the destruction of another’s property for reasons not-related to RP, and that are related to RP but have not been agreed upon by the owner.
• 1a- Simply put, to destroy someone else’s blocks you must get their permission within the game’s chat logs (to protect against someone is attempting to get someone banned).
• 1b- Trespassing in areas or within structures that are marked private is also considered griefing, as are any methods used to enter the aforementioned property.
• 1c- Altering the placed blocks themselves or the area of another in any way, and without permission, is considered griefing.
• 1d- World graffiti, or “pixel art” is also considered griefing.
• 1e- Digging out beaches for sand, leaving ‘floating’ trees, digging straight down, creating single-block ‘sky penises,’ or otherwise destroying the landscape without a valid RP reason and accompanying forum post is also considered griefing.
• 1f- Engaging in PvP without first engaging in a typed in-character notification is strictly prohibited, furthermore, anyone found to be killing other players without a valid RP reason is griefing.

#2- No spamming or advertising in the chatlogs or forum.
• 2a- Discussing other Minecraft servers is permitted, but the administration would appreciate if others did not advertise servers on EoE.

#3- No sharing accounts, or account information.
• 3a- We don’t care if your sibling or friend wants to play.
• 3b- Your EoE account is for your Minecraft account only. The owner of the account is responsible for any rule-breaking that their account should perpetrate.

#4- Do not use hacked or modified clients
• 4a- Yes, this includes wireframe texture-packs.

#5- Conduct yourself in a mature manner.
• 5a- EoE strickly prohibits OOC (out of character) discrimination in any form, and asks that foul language be used extremely sparingly.
o 5aa- Rule 5a does not extend to in-character words or actions for the sake of RP purposes only.

#6- Follow the guidelines of an RP server: EoE is a heavy-RP server, as such there are guidelines we ask our players to follow to help cultivate an atmosphere favorable to people of all role-playing experience.
• 6a- No inappropriate usernames.
• 6b- No use of 1337 speak in character.
• 6c- You must keep in character, unless specified as OOC.
• 6d- You must use an appropriate character-related skin; if you are unsure as to what is considered ‘appropriate’, ask an administrator or moderator: they will be happy to help you.

Donations:

Whether or not to ask for donations was always a source of discomfort among the Administration here at EoE. We came from a few disheartening experiences ourselves, and didn't want things to turn south when we were running a server. However, while we wish we could keep everything running without looking to our players for some help- we would be hard pressed to pass up a thoughtfully given donation.

As per our policy of full disclosure, our server costs at the time of this writing are $32 a month (pretty good for all we have right?). We would appreciate any amount that someone willingly and- unsolicited by ourselves, gives to help us meet this monthly expense. Know that this money will ONLY be spent on server-related costs. If we are thinking about an upgrade from our provider- or advertising space on a website- we will hold votes on the forums; besides that, we will pay our server costs and keep you informed about the amount within the fund- and the costs we incur, should they change. To that end, and to offer a bit of incentive, yet not spoil the robust experience that EoE offers all of its players, we have devised a donation tier system that is both fair and inexpensive. Below you will find the aforementioned tiers, and their added benefits.

Tier #5: Yeoman- ($5 Donation)

● Stipend of 500 Marks
● Colored forum and in-game name, so that everyone will know you donated.

Tier #4: Petite Bourgeois- ($10 Donation)

Out-Of-Character (OOC):
-Minecraft Account Name: TheBritishEditor

-Age: 15

-Your timezone of residence: EST

-Are you fluent in the English language? Absolutely.

-Give us some past examples of Minecraft and Roleplaying experience you have.: I roleplayed on Age of Mining for nearly 2 years straight: http://ageofmining.com that server has now collapsed after a glorious time of prosperity and success. Me and my fellow teammates all come from this server.

-Do you agree to obey and follow our rules and expectations?: Well, I wouldn't plan on joining the server if I didn't, would I?

In-Character (IC):

-Character Name: Thomas Fandon

-Ethnicity: Deep Human - a strange and mutated breed of humans who have adapted to the light-less bowels of the earth.

-Biography (One Paragraph Minimum): The Beginings of Thomas Fandon From His Perspective: My life had, in a sense, been exactly the same every single dark, dreary, and damp day. The swing of the pickaxe, the gathering of the minerals, the grumbling of the Wardens as I presented my meager tribute. I wasn't sure what the point was, or what the outcome would be. I knew only a few things for the majority of my early life - an iron pickaxe, and the walls of caverns. I seldom even bothered to open my eyes, as I could only see only by candlelight in my moist chamber which held only a bunk and a stool to place my single belonging - a pickaxe. It was pointless, and I was discontent. I didn't have the great abilities the rest of my kind did. I couldn't wield a wand, or cast a spell. I was, in a sense, a weak link and a worthless asset. It's no wonder I was the first person to sign up for that scouting party.

It was rumored that the surface had been experiencing great calamities, and that practically all civilization had been torn from the ground. The Warden Council ordered that a scouting party be arranged to investigate the situation on the surface. The party was to be composed of a mixed bag, so to speak. Many different races joined us in our venture, as their leaders were also interested. Among them were Deep Dwarves to do the majority of the mining from below bedrock, Nocturine to help exterminate any Dark Ones, and of course our kind: Deep Humans. I didn't know about or care about the others, all I knew was that all the Deep Humans in our party were in their early forties, new enough to not be the mangled old people the Warden Council tends to be composed of, yet old enough to know how to manage ourselves. It was hard to get just ten men to sign up, there is not a single Deep Human that would care to emerge from the caves. Being in direct sunlight results in discomfort for us. But that's not really the reason, we're just so adapted to living underground there's just not a point. Some men have an absurd sense of Nationalism for that so-called community we had down there. I, however, signed up for a different reason. I was sick and tired of this place. I wanted to experience something with meaning and a definite outcome - I wanted to experience the surface.

The party was dispatched almost immediately after the required amount of men were collected. One of our ancient cave systems gave us a good start, and we simply had to expand it upwards. The mining took days, and the shaft was unbelievably narrow. We had virtually nothing to eat, as we weren't expecting the trip to be long, let alone toilsome. We were so accustomed to tearing out the minerals of the world with brute force, that the others didn't even bother to use their spells. However, the stone got tougher and more organic, worn, and foreign to what we were accustomed to, so some of them were forced to. I, however, was stuck with my worn old pickaxe.

We thought we had reached something, when we opened up into a new cave system. Nobody reacted surprised to it, this was the usual. Find new cave systems, collect what we could, and then mark it on the Grand Map. When we entered the area, however, things were abnormal. The smell was horrid, and the ceiling was dripping with dew. The cobblestone had moss growing on it, and there was.. a cage sitting in the center of the cave. Inside it sat a peculiar beast, rattling at the bars of the cage like a lunatic. Attached to it was an ancient device that appeared to leech through the cage and latch on to the beast. I've heard of it before, it was a famous failure of Deep Human ambition, and resulted in a horrible mistake, creating more Dark Ones than our kind had ever experienced. It had been sealed away in this wretched cave for eons, and when it finally got an instigation to attempt to break free, it ripped open the cage with all it's might, gushing out Dark Ones.

Skeletons, Zombies, Great Spiders, they roared in anger over who dare awaken them. The Nocturine instinctively reacted to the Dark Ones, and fired their bows at such a rapid pace that not even our keen eyes could follow it. All of the enemies seemed to be defending a single focal point, a tall, green, figure with four legs. It leisurely sat and watched as it's pawns attacked it's enemies. When it saw the Nocturine gaining an advantage, it pounced forward on us. It started making an absurd hissing noise, and I lost consciousness.

I shoved the last stone off of my chest, coughing my weak lungs to their very extent. I looked behind me, to see the lifeless bodies of my fellow scouts. I sighed in slight sadness over the loss of my comrades. How had I survived, when they hadn't? I quickly put the thought behind me. It wasn't important, you can't revert the past.
Across the cave I sighted something. Something alien and unforeseen, something enamoring and frightening at the same time. It was a crack in the wall - and light was emitting from it. I dusted my rag clothing off, and sprinted across the cave. I tore my stone pickaxe out of it's sheath mid-run, and hurled it at the side of the wall with a loud clap. The crack enlarged, and it was big enough for me to walk through. I was engulfed by light - and for once, I had meaning. Until, I remembered who I was and what I was wearing. I was standing in direct sunlight with rags for clothing, and I was a Deep Human. I felt a burning sensation on my face.

When I awoke, night had fallen, and I was on the ground of the cave floor. I stumbled outside, and for the first time I witnessed the moon. It was gorgeous, enamoring as the sunlight first appeared to me. I then gazed downward and found that the moon was not the only gorgeous thing near me. Things I would later know to call "forests" and "mountains" dotted the land in front of me. It was so unusual at the time.

-Character Age: During the time of his escape; 42, during his time as an Elder of Kusalom in Eulyros; 84. 42 in Deep Human culture is a very young and untrustworthy age, almost teenage.

-Character Appearance: Thomas Fandon is a tall and slender individual standing at 6' 4'', with an apprehensive and near frightening head, armed with almost glowing rose eyes, and a full head of gray hair despite his age. He is famous for never removing his elongated and shrouding fedora and his almost clearly discomforting Elessar-Era reporter suit. His skin is parchment white with contrast to his facial hair. His shoes are worn in beyond comprehension, he has never changed his shoes.

-Character Personality: Eerily calm, as if he knows what will happen next. His gaze would not change if an orc unleashed his vocal cords in his face.

-Your Minecraft Skin: http://novaskin.me/RVg7N

Verification/Miscellaneous:

-What nation does Emperor Dorian rule?: The Empire of Kusalom

-What nation does Commander Hillborn rule?: The Kingdom of Landoria

-What organization does Bael Shadesorrow lead?: The Church of The Holy Cube

-Who is the Guardian Sage of Eulyros?: Templari

-What is TheBritishEditor's favorite kind of pudding?: My favorite kind of pudding is tapioca, of course.

-Give us a brief summary of what you plan to accomplish on this server.: I wish for my main character, Templari, to expel the fiendish Kusalom invaders from his untouched lands, and for my alternate character, Thomas Fandon, to mentor the corrupt Dorian into even MORE corruption and destruction of Eulyros.

-What are your expectations for the Administration team and the Server itself?: I expect that me and my team will manage things well, get things done on time and when we say so, and be generally awesome. I expect our server will go beyond the expectations of any of us, and gain immense reputation.

-How did you stumble upon us?: MCForums

As a veteran of many RP communities, I can vouch for the dedication and commitment of this server to the craft. A whole intricate backstory has been woven together to provide a good starting point for every player, but it doesn't dominate the experience. Once you establish yourself in the kingdoms of Kusalom or Landoria, you'll find there's a huge new world still left to explore!

Another great thing about Epoch of Eulyros is its admin staff. Each admin runs one of the starting player factions, so that guarantees that they will be involved with the growth of the server. I've been to many servers where the admins sort of check out and drift away, which usually spells doom for that server. Not so for EoE! All the admins will be more than happy to help you for as long as the server stands!

It's true. The admin factions will help with the pace of gameplay and serve as a way for us to move the action along. However, we aren't all-powerful in the least. If it is the will of the players, the admin factions may be destroyed, or may conquer the region. We've left everything open-ended and for the PLAYERS to decide.

Plus we have quests. Did we mention that we have a Fourm-based in-game quest system?

No? well we do.

Out-Of-Character (OOC):
-Minecraft Account Name: Mewkin.

-Age: 18

-Your timezone of residence: Central U.S.

-Are you fluent in the English language? Si.

-Give us some past examples of Minecraft and Roleplaying experience you have.: I have role-played a massive amount since I was 12 in several circles of the internet, but never on Minecraft. I attempted to do so on Age of Mining, and had something fantastic written up before it died.

-Do you agree to obey and follow our rules and expectations?: Yes.

In-Character (IC):

-Character Name: Syphus.

-Ethnicity: Official: Holven Elf; Impurity: Aesyr.

-Biography: I have most of this thought out, it will be written when I have a massive amount of solid lore to work with. He is a native of Eulyros and therefore does not have his history entangled much with the massive lore behind Kusalom, Landoria, and the Holy Cube.

-Character Age: 94.

-Character Appearance: A creature of exactly 6 feet, Syphus has the appearance of a boy on the edge of adulthood and a slender enough body to utterly convince the eyes of others that he lacks any physical capabilities. To add to the nonthreatening appearance, he has a soft face devoid of all rough cosmetic features both man or woman tend to wear, with clear eyes and pupils resembling bright, cloudy ice. Eyes that are often partially covered by somewhat long Mountain Meadow hairs of surprising character, in sharp contrast to his smooth facial region. And ears penetrate this flowing mess of hair extending roughly 4 inches outwards and upwards at a norm of 30 degrees. All of what seems to be this being’s skin is of hues of blizzard blue and celeste, the blue equivalent to a human’s light pink skin. Ridges of dark blue run along the back of his spine and continues along a slick, plump tail extruding from his backside, reaching down to a tail fin that is almost able to lay fully flat on the floor. The clothing he wears is trivial as it is only a varying illusion to other eyes, but if others must know, his real clothing consists of a simple brown robe overlapping baggy trousers of a lighter hue that are tucked in towards the bottom by a pair of medium-sized boots. However, he falls victim to his will of looking as intricate as he feels his mentality is and chooses to create an illusion in which he is wearing overly extravagant clothing.

-Character Personality: Calm, seemingly emotionless in most situations. His mind is a hard one to decipher, as he has the schizophrenia common among his race, but this has rarely translated into any hate-filled actions with the grand amount of affection he hides within himself.

This is a pretty basic outline for the Aesyr, which I will possibly expand more of when the time calls for it, but here it is.

A somewhat rare race to those that would consider them one to begin with, many Aesyr have stayed elusive enough for there to be many uncertainties as to where and when they originated. It’s believed the first, an Aesyr of life by the name of Okarin, was born half a millennia ago in the depths of Lesanethe, before it became among the most concentrated area of Dark Ones in the world. But most races could not care less for what is commonly considered an unnatural combination of both mortality and immortality, hindering the official documentation of these creatures. As a result, Aesyr tend to reflect negatively upon the being they once were with an enlarged ego and keep out of any affairs involving other races, especially when it comes to humans… but that does not mean we have no information on them.

Humans, dwarves, elves, gnolls, and all other creatures have the distinct possibility of going through an unnamed process in which their mind and spirit unconsciously attracts an elemental of the lands. Their fondness towards the creature far exceeds any description men may put into words, and is the only known ingredient needed to begin the bonding of their spirits. The elemental engulfs the soul of the creature it so cherished, laying absolute claim and granting protection to the mortal soul. Now for all eternity, they are in the company of one another whether the victim willed so or otherwise. It does not take much imagination to look upon these creatures and see an endless slave, which brings about a sense of dread in others, the primary reason why Aesyrs are considered among the most cursed of all creatures, no matter what one of them may say. However, there are those of whom spend their entire life embracing all aspects of nature in an attempt of becoming one with an elemental only to eventually die of old age, further reinforcing the idea that a mind well learned in generic aspects of life, death, and the lands is the factor that appeals to them.

After becoming a combination of spirits sharing a single body, it is not uncommon for them to reject their previous lives and avoid ever making a mention of it, sometimes going as far as to consider themselves newborns of the age of zero. While the host and earthen spirit keep their own mentality, physical appearances change a great deal depending on the bonded elemental. Examples can include a fire Aesyr’s dry body, ashen skin, and abnormally high internal temperature, a water Aesyr’s molecular structure becoming more attuned to water while developing aquatic features, or a mess of plants and fungi mimicking the forest Aesyr’s original figure. Being the immortal mortals they are, they still experience the deaths many others are dealt, yet the aforementioned physical properties factors in the way in which the creature’s soul is rejuvenated by the immortal’s spirit, granting them the ability to once again manipulate and control a physical body.

“Throughout the centuries, these entities have grown in numbers. An ever so slowly populating race prospers with the exclusion of permanent death. Given a few more millennia, their numbers may grow enough to allow a merge that will create among the highest of all civilizations. Thousands of creatures who will persist through time never forgetting the wrongs of others, never being silenced, and never losing the knowledge they gain throughout their years. Creatures containing such empathy and humanity, with the ability to fully learn of themselves and others throughout endless days. Creatures that might someday reach complete enlightenment, and push the boundaries of the world we know to attain something more than anyone would have ever imagined was there all along. All of this, and we are a mockery of the natural order and the laws that have been placed upon the universe so that no being could possibly collapse it. The time has come to exceed the limitations we were bound by as primitive creatures that were only present to ensure that chaos would never envelope creation. Life is no longer young, life is now sentient and mature. We are now aware that order exists, the capability to contain order throughout ourselves is unconsciously exercised every second. We are those who have shown that the laws in place do not need to be followed to ensure peace is maintained. We are Aesyr.” – Okarin.

-Do you agree to obey and follow our rules and expectations?: Yes, i would hope someone planning on joining a server would.

In-Character (IC):

-Character Name: Barashi Valasin

-Ethnicity: Landorian (?) (If possible: A tribe of desert dwellers that have now been assimilated into the culture of the two kingdoms/Empires.)

-Biography (One Paragraph Minimum): I, Barashi, am writing the page to give you a taste of my life, if you can call it that. Here it goes anyways:
The day was beggining anew and the sun was already blistering. The sand seemed to hiss, almost as if it were alive, but it was only the living things that were in the sand that made that sound as they awoke. The night of hand was incredibly cold, meaning that the moon's dawn (Winter some call it) was coming abroad.

As i pulled myself out of my bed, if you can call the pile of sheets that, my father came in, a hoe in hand and a stale expression on his face. He shoved me the hoe, called me useless, then yelled at me to get my arse out of bed and start making a man out of myself, except i was already past the rite of maturity. As i walked out through the home towards our measly farm i noticed that the sound had died, and then a new sound started.

This new sound was coming from a rather large dune. I placed my tanned hands to my head to get a better view but one was not needed, i could already see the bandits of the desert. They whooped and hollared as they swept down. I raised my hoe with the intent of crashing the blade into one of their skulls until a rock shot through the air and smacked me straight into the face.

Later (who knows how long, maybe a month, or less, or even more!) I woke up, my head pulsing and my ears beating so loud i couldn't hear anything. I reached a hand upwards to steady myself but as it came into my view all i saw was a blur, then blackness.

I am now running towards the Landoria Kingdom, hoping to seek refuge from the bandits i have just momentarily escaped from. They're probably after me and i'm also a dead man, but hopefully, just hopefully, someone will find this book out here in this god forsaken land and know my story.

-Character Age: 32

-Character Appearance: Bronzed skin with a series of black gear looking tatoos running down Barashi's arm. Barashi has dark, penetrating brown eyes and even darker hair. A rough beard covers his chin and is connected with sideburns to his hair. He is of average build, more on the bulky side, and is stooped with broad shoulders.

-Character Personality: Barashi isn't a risk taker, but more of a tactical thinker. He is cool-headed around most but a silver tongue near others, exspecially when at market. Thrill drives him forward and often makes him do things he would not otherwise think of normally doing.
