As the title describes, we need to compile a list.. a 'bucket list' for Minecraft Hardcore mode, so we can have an idea of what to do before we eventually kick the bucket at the hands of a chicken pushing you off a cliff into lava.
The things in the Bucket List need to be something to work for, rather than things we Minecrafters do on a day to day basis.. Things like:
Build a structure in the Overworld using Netherbrick and other Nether Materials
Have a dozen of every breedable animal at the same time in their own pastures
Grow every type of growable plant at the same time.
Build a home in the Nether, complete with a tree farm and a food source of any type
Build a floating home near the roof of the world.
Reach X Level (Any ideas? Whats the cap anyways?)
Build a home in every biome type.
Obtain a full set of enchanted diamond armor and tools. Any enchantments
Obtain a full set of enchanted gold armor and tools. Any enchantments
Build a large statue of yourself using colored wool / other materials
Obtain a Pet Creeper in a glass "Terrarium".
Build a home using primarily Obsidian. (Obsidian Casting anyone?)
Obtain a pack of wolves. (At least 10)
Find a Stronghold.
"Liberate" an NPC Village and either BURN IT TO THE GROUND or Expand upon it with the following improvements.
A Library
A Church
A Forge
A Town Hall
A Jail
A Wall
Bring the town up to a total of ten houses, OR One house for every NPC, whichever is higher.
Anything else you want!
Build a Bio-Dome for wild animals in a normally inhospitable location. (Ocean Floor, Underground, etc)
Collect all the music discs
Completely fill out 10 unique maps
Build a stable and fill it with 6 saddled pigs.
Make an army of Snow Golems - In the Nether
Build a Railway, complete with powered rails, that spans three different biomes and loops upon itself.
Capture an Enderdragon! (Not yet implimented though)
Collect one of every block available by non-cheating means and showcase it in a trophy room.
Etc etc. Any good suggestions you guys think of will be added to this list! Ideas need to still allow creative freedom, but be tough enough that doing such a task might risk that inevitable moment where you 'kick the bucket', but also not repetitive things like "Plant 5000 trees" or "Run 50 miles".
ALSO: For all list items that require you to "Build Something", the bare minimum is fine. For a home, the bare minimum is an above-ground structure complete with a door, bed, chest, furnace, and workbench. It can be very simple if you want, or it can be as fancy as you like. I know some people might not want to get super attached to an amazing creation on hardcore mode, so they don't have to build some wonderful creation. Bonus points if they do though!
To record everything you've done on Hardcore Mode, make sure to take a screenshot of it. Feel free to post how yer doing as well!
Create an environmental home for animals (I'm not an animal activist I just thought it would be neat to see this)
Create a pack of wolves then set them free in an environmental home for animals
Build a town with:
-A town hall
-At least five homes
-A bank
-A tree farm
-A farm of every kind of crop (nether wart optional)
-A Jail/police station
-Armory
-etc.
Get a full set of diamond tools, weapons, armor
-Take a part an entire stronghold
-Collect at least 10 treasures from mines and strongholds
more coming soon

I like it.. the environmental home for them could be like a Biodome, but we can add a twist to it and make it in an other-wise inhospitibal environment. Say, at the bottom of the ocean or in the nether.
For the town, how about taking over an NPC town and adding all those changes to it, while also keeping the NPC's alive?
I agree with the diamond tools, though lets make it an enchanted set of diamond tools and armor.
For the stronghold.. just FINDING one is a feat of it's own. Find one, and explore it. Triple points if you can find all 3 in the world.
Instead of collecting generic treasure from mineshafts/strongholds, since much of it is generic stuff, how about we change it to collecting all the music discs available?
I'm sorry... I tried to read this thread... but OPs avatar is mesmerizing...
Haha don't worry, yer not the only one. I've stared at it for a while myself. I got it from a guy on the Dwarf Fortress forums.. dunno where he got it.

damn
didn't notice that.
>_<
bah
would be nice if we had a way to transplant animals into the nether, but I guess if we can only get food that we bring in there it makes it much more of a travel dimension...

I really don't understand animated avis.
ON TOPIC:
- Skyscraper from sea level to sky limmit, (at least 16x64x16).
- Jump of skyscraper but save myself from death with ender pearl.
- Silverfish spawner farm
- Create my own mushroom biome with bonemeal
- Breed mooshrooms
Can you make a animal bio-dome in the nether? Didn't think you could get animals there. . .

Ah yea that is a problem. You CAN get chickens there though.. but thats it. I'll edit the original post.
Also, how does one make a 'silverfish spawner' farm exactly?
As for the skyscraper / jumping off a skyscraper, we have one about building a floating home in the sky, which kind of takes th eplace of that one. And jumping off.. you can easily save yerself with water, so even saving it with an enderpearl isn't much of an achievement.
The breeding mooshrooms is part of the "Have 12 of every breedable animal" part.

Well you just set up an automatic killing device and watch the fun. The chalenge is that since they come from the spawner (added in 1.9pre3) it will be very hard to construct the trap around it.
Skyscraper is harder, far easier to fall off while building all 64 blocks of height than it is making s floating box.
Enderpearl because I love the new TP ability :wink.gif:

can you not take a bunch of chicken eggs and throw them and get a chicken?
I didn't think creative players played hardcore mode...
Most your list is about building homes and ****. But I'm pretty sure hardcore players are more nomadic than sedimentary people.
I just keep exploring my map, raiding npc villages of their wood and wheat, bust down some strong holds, find lots and lots of diamonds. Also go to the nether every once and a while.

This list combines adventuring and building, with the added difficulty of hardcore mode. I personally love building things, but I mostly do so on survival. Creative mode is not fun at all since theres no effort involved in finding the materials. I love having to go into the Nether to find that precious glowstone, or having to cook all the stone I need for building my massive constructions with smooth stone or stone brick, etc etc.
I find it FAR more satisfying to build massive buildings with things I've gathered myself. Take for example my Cathedral of Blood, built entirely deep underground. I took the screenshot from a ledge I made into the side of the wall I'm standing on, as I was still working on that part. The longest part was the excavating of it..

I really haven't changed much in the way I build or play hardcore mode. I still try to build something safe that looks good too.
The way I look at is this; we all know we are going to die, if we focus on our mortallity we may obstruct things that will give us pleasure. So, I build everything in my hardcore mode world that I would in any survival world, I'm just a little more careful.

ya know you can generate smooth stone similarly to cobble now?
it's not incredibly useful because you can't move them but it might help you save some time, building an entire layer of a wall once at a time.

Minecraft Bucket List for Hardcore mode!
That could work, or we could 1-up it: Make a floating house/building thats near the roof of the world. I like it!

this is why we need eggs for bred animals xD
bring 'em into the nether and they instantly hatch xD
