In addition, I'm proud to announce that The McKnack Pack will be officially hosted by Dewcraft.com, which will be using it as their creative server texture pack! HECK YEAH!
Cartoony but Plausible
Clean but Detailed
Unique but Faithful
Modern but Classic
This is my first (and probably only) texture pack, so be gentle and GIVE ME ALL YOUR CRITIQUES.
Do you like the default textures? Cus I don't. But you know what I dislike more? Texture packs that completely change the colors or shades of blocks. That's why I made The McKnack Pack: a half-cartoon, half modern, and half faithful pack that takes the dingy colors of the default and chunks them through a second story window like a hot grenade.
What do I mean by this? Well let's have a look at the features.
Vibrant Colors
Colors upon colors! Everything in The McKnack Pack was made to make the most of the colors. From the bright green/blue grass, to the blue-tinted stone. Nearly every texture was made with offset hues to shade bright, but plausible colors, resulting in deeper, more dynamic colors. This, when combined with the colored lighting of various in-game light sources, yeilds interesting and unique color transitions that create nearly endless color variations depending on the conditions.
Clean Aesthetic
Nearly every texture is devoid of unnecessary visual clutter, while still being detailed and true to the Minecraft feel. Shiny obsidian makes it look almost like marble, Warm/cold contrasted wood paneling makes your wood floors spottless, and the mowed grass makes every mountain look pristinely maintained by mysterious invisible landscapers.
Faithful Design
If you built your own White House using Iron, fear not, the iron here is just as white as the default. You won't have to worry about any of your works being tainted by mis-colored textures when switching from the default. While some textures have been changed to be more accurate to real life, all of the decoratively used blocks are similarly colored to the default.
And now the experience is more complete than ever! Items are finished and ready to be used to build and destroy! Use the best looking (but nearly useless) gold items. Enjoy a delicious steak. Get your hand eaten by a headcrab. Slap your enemies with fish! All in the same vibrant style you know and love.
In addition, the sun and moon have been changed, and the ores have been reworked and improved! Enjoy the most complete McKnack Pack experience yet!
[REMIXES OF THIS PACK ARE PROHIBITED UNLESS GIVEN SPECIFIC PERMISSION BY THE CREATORS (MCKNACKUS & T2WAVE) AND PROMINENTLY CREDITED. PM ME IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO USE SOME OF THESE TEXTURES IN YOUR REMIX. I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO DENY THE REMIX FOR ANY OR NO REASON.]
It looks really good! Definitely feeling the cheery feel of the pack!
The only thing I'd consider changing is glowstone, to me it feels a little out of place, and odd. Maybe make an alt closer to the original glowstone?
Other than that, it's great! Good work!
I might look into it, but to be honest, default glowstone is ugly as sin IMO. I was more trying to make it look more like a lamp for build use. But I suppose I'll see what I can do to make it fit more with the Nether.
No no no leave the glowstone! It's one of the coolest things about the pack!
But then, I suppose that's a good argument for getting the pack up on minecraftcustomizer. He wants the glowstone different, while I love it but was going to ask for more interesting glass (I prefer divided-lite windows). I love the colors in this one. All it needs is better glass.

Haha. Well rest assured, I have tried other glowstone textures that I've scrapped (should have saved them for curiosity's sake I guess, but oh well) and they all looked terrible until I made it a straight up lamp texture. I was thinking the spiral pattern would make it just weird enough to work in the nether. Whatever the case, if people keep telling me to keep this glowstone, I'm not gonna change it, cus I personally like it the way it is too. :tongue.gif:
As for the glass, I specifically made it to be as transparent as possible without being invisible. I left the middle of it clear, so you can see out it easily without white pixels in the way. I appreciate the advice, but I'll be sticking with the current glass. At least unless Notch starts allowing translucency like he does with the ice texture. :tongue.gif:
Oh, and just so you guys know, I don't plan on making enemy or mob textures. It's a miracle I even managed to finish the world textures as it is and I have other art projects on the drawing board. :tongue.gif:
Looks neat.
I like how some of it is kind of inspired by the original textures, while still retaining an unique, cheerful feel.
Except for that striped grass maybe. I just think it doesn't really fit with the rest of the pack, but that's just my opinion.
Yeah, I didn't want to stray too far from the default pack. I always hated it when a texture pack would completely alter the texture colors. Sure they might look good, but if you used iron because it's white in the default, then grey won't fit the vision.
I'm glad my bro finally got his pack done. I watched him do a lot of tweaking to get them all just right. This pack I actually like using.
Haha, thanks! Gotta say though, I woudln't have finished it without you. Plus, you did make the piston textures, when I had given up on the pack altogether. :tongue.gif:
The complaint of the leaves I was talking about was how they are kind of too high in contrast, and in my opinion I think the seperate leaves should be bigger like this.
But still, I love the packs except for the leaves and the mob spawners.

Seriously, this is as good as keeping the theme as jolicraft is. I love it.
I only have a few complaints though, the leaves look too vanilla-minecraft, and same with the ferns and mob spawners.
Also, I can create the mob textures for you if you want.

I don't really know what "vanilla minecraft" means to be honest. Would you mind explaining it to me? :tongue.gif:
Thanks! :biggrin.gif: There was really no other place to go to find epic builds like those. :tongue.gif:
Actually it's done as far as I can tell. :tongue.gif:
