AutoTool

Hello Minecraftforum
This is the second mod I release, tell me what you think about it!

My mod will choose the optimal Tool to mine the Block you want to mine.
For example, if you are trying to mine a stone with bare hands my Mod will look for a pickaxe in your inventory and choose it.
It will not switch to a pickaxe if it cant mine a block, for example an ironpickaxe and obsidian.

Video about its Function, I think it shows the functions of AutoTool best, huge thanks to TheModSpotlight!

Installation:
First install Risugamis Modloader from here:http://www.minecraft...b34c5f9330f3e00
I dont have anything to do with this Mod, its just a requirement.

Then download my Mod from here:http://dl.dropbox.co...67/AutoTool.zip and put the archive into /.minecraft/mods and you are done.

If AutoTool crashes your game run
java -version

into the console of your choice. If it says
java version 1.6.X

(X means it doesnt matter) your JRE is too old. I am working on it, but in the Meantime install JRE7 from here:http://www.oracle.co...oad-432155.html

Usage:

By default the ToolMode is 0
ToolMode 0 means the Mod doesnt do anything.
You have to push the ToolChangeButton to have it change the Mode.
This is by default the Middle Mouse Button.

My mod works in three modes: off, basic and expanded.
Basic will only choose swords, pickaxes, axes and shovels and is represented by toolmode 1.
Extended will attempt to farm dirt, put liquids into buckits and shear sheep and is represented by toolmode 2.
This is a Standard Configuration, as of Version 1.5 you can fully configure a flexible amount of modes!

After first run it will generate four files in the /mods/AutoTool folder: AutoToolKey.txt, AutoToolMode.txt, AutoToolOverrides.txt and AutoToolModeConfig.txt
The first one determines the Button to use for the ToolChangeKey, -98 is standard and means Middle Mouse Button.
The second one saves the ToolMode you were in when you last played.

AutoToolOverrides:

AutoToolModeConfig:
Spoiler

To unblock SMP generate a file called "override.txt" into your /.minecraft folder.
Denote that it is case-sensitive!
It is not important what is inside, the unblock is checking if it exists.
Some Users get their SSP to work but not the SMP. The most likely cause ist that your Operating System hides FileType-Attachments. In that case you have to create a new textdocument called only override.

Key Config:
If you want to change the ToolChange Key here is how to do it:
As I mentioned before the Key is stored in AutoToolKey.txt.
The Binding is the LWJGL Keybinding.
I found a nice Image in the Thread of SinglePlayerCommands, I will ask for permissions to use that.
As long as I dont have Permissions check their Thread here:http://www.minecraft...p-pack-updated/

Alternatively, you can get a second reference in the documentation of lwjgl:http://lwjgl.org/jav...board.CHAR_NONE

MouseValues:
-100 = LeftMouseButton
-99 = RightMouseButton
-98 = MouseWheel

Changelog:
1.5 Through the File AutoToolModeConfig.txt you can fully configure any function of any mode! Also the Overrides from the Beta got released!

1.4 Implemented support for Bowls, Buckets on Cows are working again and Mods from other People should work too...I also fixed the way of telling the User which mode he is in by writing it into the Client-Chat(Servers cant see this, even though it is in chat). Oh, and 1.1-Support!

1.3.2 Fixed a Bug where non-optimal Pickaxes crashed the Game

1.3.1 Compatible to 1.0.0

1.3 Bugfixes, Performance Improvements, the Ability to configure the ToolChangeKey, the ToolMode tag only appears
if you change the Mode and the source is included in Archive.

1.2 Now remembers ToolMode by saving it to /mods/AutoTool.txt

1.1 Fixed a bug where hoes wouldnt get chosen

1.0 First public release

Future:
-AutoReplant Saplings and Seeds
-Compatibility to Java 1.6

AutoCraft

You wont need to lookup your recipes again!

On the left side of the Crafting Table a bar of buttons will appear.
You can navigate through all recipes that exist in your Minecraft, modded ones too!

Installation:
Its like installing AutoTool, better look up how to do it there!

Instead of using AutoTool.zip you have to use AutoCraft.zip from here:http://dl.dropbox.co...7/AutoCraft.zip

Usage:

Every Time you open the CraftingGrid of a crafting Table the left side of the screen will be filled
with the AutoCraft-Gui. Click a white button and the Grid will automatically be filled.

You can see all available recipes, the one you can craft are with white background, the others are gray.

There are three Buttons at the bottom of the Screen: Two for navigating through the recipes you have and one to empty your Crafting-Grid.

Sounds very handy! I find it a bit fiddly to constantly switch between tools when digging a long tunnel through mixed dirt and rock. This should hit the spot.

I thought I'll give this a try & may even make a video for you ... but

Silly question - but HOW do we turn on/off/change the automode ??

All I get is 'automode:0' flickering on screen when playing 1.8.1 single player survival

You change the Mode using Middle Mouse Button! And yeah, you have to turn it on every time you start the game! Remember: Mode 0 means it doesnt do anything!

I actually maintain this mod since 1.6 but this is the first time I release it in public.
You can still try to program this!
Competition is good for business :P

The Point of this Mod is not for InstaBreak!
The first Point is that a lot of people complaint about chicken hiding in tall grass and trying to hit them would harm your sword a lot.
The second point is, that in creative you got other features too, like infinite placement of blocks or the right to get everything.
Some People just want to build their buildings out of resources they have gotten by themself, but do not want to waste lots of time switching between tools.

OK got it working now that I know about the middle mouse button to change modes - found a small 'bug' (??) though

Quote

Extended will attempt to farm dirt, put liquids into buckits and shear sheep and is represented by toolmode 2.
When trying to farm - it seems it selects the hoe BUT it 'digs' instead of 'farm'.

I'm guessing (while in automode:2) because you're 'left clicking' on earth - it select the hoe & interprets the left click as 'dig with hoe' instead of a right-click to 'farm with hoe'

@ anonym927: I'm currently uploading a (very) short video showing this in action (hopefully). I'll post a link when it's done

Also: suggestions....
1) Let it 'remember' the last mode it was set to
2) Option to get rid of that dam flickering 'Automode:xx' line on-screen, or get it to only show up WHEN you change mode
