RuneCraftory is the name of the collection of mods inspired by the popular RPGs: Rune Factory & Harvest Moon. Each of these mods can be installed individually, or used together as one for a unique Minecraft experience.
Content I am currently working on for the next update: Condense all of crops into one block ID and set up the proper values in TileEntity. Give crops, seeds, and food levels up to five and set drop rates accordingly. Rework the entire leveling system to be easier and more rewarding. Add in an optional mode for players looking for an little extra challenge. Add an ingame GUI recipe book for ChefCraftory. Expand Harvest Chest further with items to buy and sell. Set proper prices for items in Harvest Chest. Give cooked dishes extra healing based effects.
Update released Feb 12, 2012.
Please read this information about the new update to FarmCraftory!
Spoiler
This update is special for a few reasons and you need to know this information before you install them. What is important about this update is all of the crops are now condensed down to just 1 block ID. This means that you will now have more ID's free for other mods. However, there is an issue that happens because of this. If you have any placed crops in your current save file from the previous version of FarmCraftory and you install this new version, you will potentially break your save file. I recommend you install this new version in a new world save. However, if you insist on keeping an old save, you will need to BREAK/DESTROY all of the crop blocks in your world before installing. Also, I highly suggest you make a back up of your save file before you do anything else. This is your only warning so don't complain back to me that you broke your save file because you didn't bother to read this.
Download Links (The contents of these files need to go directly into the minecraft.jar. Not into the mods folder!)
Down below is the all-in-one download for all of the mods above. You can consider this a "mod pack" for all of my mods. Be aware, if you use this download to install my mods, and you get errors, it is more difficult for me to pinpoint what went wrong. Before reporting the error, try installing the mods individually. Thanks in advance.
1. Download ModLoader and Forge API.
2. Open "minecraft.jar" in your .minecraft folder.
3. Open ModLoader and drag files into the jar.
4. Open Forge and drag files into the jar.
5. Download the Craftory mods you want to install and drag the files into the jar. (My mods can be installed in any order.)

Changed fundamental farming mechanics
Surrounding or nearby water blocks no longer affect tilled farmland. To water tilled farmland, you will need to craft a Watering Can.
Watered farmland will stay watered for an entire Minecraft day and night cycle, until it turns back to dry farmland on the next morning. Rain will still water tilled farmland as long as the rain can reach the block.
Crops may turn brown if the tilled farmland is not watered during the day, but they are not dead. Simply water the crop and it will be restored to health. If you harvest any crop while it is in its brown, withered state, it will (only) drop a Withered Grass.
If tilled farmland is not watered by the end of the day, the block will return to dirt and the crop will die. Just remember to water everyday and crops will grow normally.
Players or mobs no longer cause tilled farmland to revert to dirt when walking on top of it.
Farming Mechanics
Spoiler
Normal farming in Minecraft requires a nearby water block to supply watering to farmland or else the farmland remains dry. This mod adds an optional change to that farming mechanic. With this mod, you can optionally use a watercan item to keep farmland watered instead of nearby water blocks. This adds some realism to growing crops.
Every Minecraft morning begins with a "drying" period which lasts an hour (0:00 to 1:00 or 6:00 A.M. to 7:00 A.M if you are using the GUI). Watered farmland will change from wet to dry during this period so its a good idea to ready your watering can to begin the watering process.
If using this new mechanic, your crops will need to be watered on a daily basis for them to grow and produce healthy and mature fruit and vegetables. If you forget to water, your crops will eventually turn brown and wilted, and they will stop growing. If you break a wilted plant, it will only give you a Withered Grass item. To cure the wilted status, just water the crop and it will return to its healthy state.
Spoiler
*Tip* If you use a withered grass on a crop, there is a small chance that the crop will immediately grow into its next growth stage
Once you water the tilled farmland, it will last an entire day and night, without a need to re-water until the next morning. Crops usually take about two to three days to grow into full maturity. Non-watered farmland will return to dirt if it is not watered before sundown. If any crops were planted, they will die and you will lose your crop.
Spoiler
Once a crop has grown into maturity, you can harvest by breaking the plant. A mature crop will always give you its fruit/vegetable and has a chance at giving you back a seed.
Spoiler
(Just a quick reminder: Because of how chunk updates function, if you are not in close vicinity to the crops or farmland, they stop updating until you reach a certain distance to them. This means you the crops will stop growing and the farmland will not need to be tended.)
Farm Tools
Spoiler
Watering Can
A watering can is an essential tool for beginning and maintaining any size of crop. An empty watering can can be filled by any water source (similar to a bucket) and has a limited amount of uses until it needs to be refilled. Higher grade watering cans will water wider areas.
Spoiler
Wood Watering Can. Waters a 1x1 square block with a single click.
Iron Watering Can. Waters a 3x3 square block with a single click.
Sickle
Another tool in your farming arsenal is a Sickle. Crafting sickle is required to find seeds. Use a sickle to cut down tallgrass and your seed woes will be a thing of the past. Every sickle has they same drop rate, but higher grade sickles have more durability. Sickles can be crafted out of Wood, Stone, Iron, Diamond, or Gold.
Spoiler
Stone Sickle
Iron Sickle
Gold Sickle
Magnifying Glass
A completely optional tool, the Magnifying Glass lets you inspect the current state of a plant. It will tell you information such as the name, which growth stage the crop is in, and so on. Useful if you forget what type of crops you've planted.
Spoiler
Lens
Magnifying Glass
Seeds and Crops
Spoiler
Bags of seeds can be found randomly by cutting down tallgrass. Seeds also may be found when you harvest any type of full grown crop. If not using SeasonCraftory, seeds types can be found in only in specific biomes.
Spoiler
Crops are categorized into two types: Single Harvest and Multi-harvest. Single Harvest crops will only yield one fruit or vegetable, while Multi-harvest crops have the potential to revert back to the previous growth stage without being destroyed. Currently, the Single Harvest crops are Pink Turnip, Cabbage, Onion, Potato, Carrot, Spinach, Turnip, Leek, Daikon Radish, and White Cabbage. The Multi-harvest crops are Strawberry, Cucumber, Tomato, Corn, Eggplant, Pineapple, Yam, and Green Pepper. All crops have 3 to 4 growth stages until maturity.

Spoiler
To begin cooking you will first need to craft a Kitchen Counter. The Kitchen Counter functions similarly to both a furnace and crafting bench, but contains two unique features.
Spoiler
The first feature is an optional slot that designates the types of recipes you will be able to cook. For example, if the slot is empty, you will make dishes like salads or sandwiches, but if the slot contains a mixer, you can make various juices. The second feature is a button that allows you to cook only when you are ready to. Unlike a crafting bench, you do not need to arrange ingredients in a specific way. Just place your ingredients in the six slots provided, then click the "Cook" button. Your dish will then "cook" and you shall receive experience points.
All dishes have a certain level requirement before you are able to cook them. Refer to this text file for all recipes and level requirement needed: Recipe List

You can also turn around and use that money to buy uncommon or even rare unique items. Use the UP and DOWN arrow to select between the Sell Menu and the Buy Menu. Only certain items can be sold. Just place the item in the box to see if it is sellable. If it is, press SELL and you shall receive money for the item.
Spoiler
In the buy menu, use the arrows to change the item want to buy. Once you've selected the item, press BUY and the item will appear in the box and your money will be subtracted. To return to the Sell menu, press UP until you reach it.

Fruit trees are grown from special saplings. These saplings can be obtained from buying them from the Harvest Chest if you have ChefCraftory installed, or will appear when you use bonemeal on grass blocks.
Growing Fruit
After a fruit tree grows from the sapling stage, it will turn into a tree with unripe fruit. These fruit will need to ripen over time before they can be picked. After the fruit is ripe, it can be picked by breaking it off the branch. All fruit trees will eventually grow back their fruit after they are picked so be careful not to chop it down accidentally.

This is indeed a wonderful copy of Rune Factory so far. I can see you adding all the weapons, armor, upgrading of those things, new drops (so that you can collect those elemental pieces for weapons) as well as the medicine and cooking portions, if you wanted.

Very nice mod, Can you cook the fishies? I'd install the runecraftory but i'm pretty sure it'll conflict with Pam's Harvest Craft

Yes, you can cook them.
As for compatibility, yes I'm afraid Rune Craftory will conflict with other farming mods since Block Tallgrass is edited to drop new seeds.
That's too bad But i now have a use for more fishing
That looks fantastic... too bad i'm on 1.9pre... =( id revert to 1.8.1 but since I have little free time, by the time I can play again... notch will have already updated to official... but i'll check it out... sound like a perfect farm upgrade! THANKS!
Just a suggestion, but you should make it compatible with ItemSpriteApi or something similar that use unlimited item sprites so that I (and probably countless other people) won't have to erase some other mods just to fit this one in. Again, just a suggestion, since I don't know the difficulty of doing this.
I would download this mod, but does it support 16x16 textures? D:
Yes, the sprite textures will appear in 16x texture packs but at a reduced quality since the original textures are 32x. But everything functions the same way unless there is an issue I'm not aware of yet.
I really like the look of this, but it's a shame the 'crop irrigation' via nearby water would no longer work if this mod is installed. I like to construct Strongholds, build railroad & irrigation systems and mine for resources as much as I like farming, and with the size of the fields I envision (what with all the new crop types) I'd be watering all day long.
Still, a remarkable mod!
SsssssssssssssssssssssssssSURPRISE! "What the FUUUU..." BOOM
