After applying the same fix to the code for 1.9pr2, the lag that some experience still persists. This leads me to believe that the lag is being caused by something else elsewhere.
THIS DOES NOT WORK ON PRE RELEASE 2 - WHY DO YOU THINK THE TITLE STILL SAYS "1.9pr"?!
I created this because I was one of the unfortunate people who were lagging very badly in the 1.9 pre release (and missing out on all the cool new stuff!).
It changes bn.class so that it only starts the thread when the level is actually saving and stops it when it's finished, rather than having it running all the time.
You can download the class file here.
I recommend you all try GenuineSounds' version before mine (or if mine doesn't work!), as his may fix it for some of you!
Although this mod has been tested as stable, I still recommend backing up your saves directory. Also, I am not sure how (if at all) it effects the autosave of Minecraft, so you might want to be careful of that, too.
I know there's already another mod floating around that attempts to fix this issue, but it doesn't seem to work for everyone.
People who are saying it's the same file: Of course it's the CLASS file of the jar, it's the same fix! If you think I'm just re-hosting his file, decompile them both, I'll be happy to prove you wrong.
For those who can't decompile the classes, or don't know how, and think I just copied the other guy, here's my code and here's his code. Just because we both change the threads priority, doesn't automatically mean I copied him, or vice versa. I'm not trying to better him nor am I trying to steal his thunder. I'm just trying to help the people who have this issue.
