I'm currently working on this. You can see that as a future version of this mod. Its better and stabler.

Sound Mod Enabler v2.4

Normally, if you make any changes to the files in the resources directory, Minecraft will re-download the default sounds and overwrite your custom files. This mod allows you to stop that from happening.

What can you do with this mod?
You can change the sounds of minecraft!

Examples:
- change the cat record to a dirty dubstep record!
- change the explode sound to a fart! (creepers fart when exploding)
- etc.

Sound Packs:
- Oblivioncraft or try to put: dl.dropbox.com/u/36116005/Oblivioncraft/ in your configuration file Posted Image (don't forget to set update_sound to true)
- Last Days(texturepack with custom sounds, do not use the cz.class!!)
- V's sound packs
- DEEP SPACE TURTLE CHASE (adventure map with custom sounds)
- DeX_ECHO Environment audio pack
- MINECRAFT, ALL SOUNDS REPLACED WITH MY VOICE
- Retro Sounds Mod
- AMNESIA SOUND PACK
- SOURCE SOUND MOD
- MINE FORTRESS 2
- LEGEND OF ZELDA SPECIAL SOUND PACK
- AMBIENT CAVE SOUNDS
- Okami Soundmod (Okami texture pack)

- PORTAL 2 SOUNDS FOR MINECRAFT
- My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic Music Makeover
- Weather sound mod
- Footissimo's eating sound
- Junk Jack
- Majora's craft
- Did you make your own soundpack? let me know and i'll put a link here.

How to change other disks that don't have an .ogg file:
1. go to this site and convert your audio to .ogg
2. rename that ogg file to the mus file you would like to replace (if you want to change far.mus, the ogg must me far.ogg
)
3. put the ogg file in your streaming folder
4. enjoy your new music

Making your own soundpack/ use your own sound(s):

Hmmm. If those sounds were indeed taken from Oblivion, it's an infringement. Content from Oblivion can't be ported over to other games. ;)

deleting the META_inf folder doesn't fix this!
It will keep overwriting every change you make to the resource folder.
this mod will disable that

This mod seems a tad/crapload useless..
Maybe you could make a GUI to make your own disc codes, etc.

Chuck Norris clicked this. Clicking it causes you to do what he did. Be like Chuck Norris.

i find it pretty interesting though.

i can finally replace the generic pain sound with a custom one and have it persist, though i guess it'd be nicer if notch allowed to upload custom pain sounds like with skins for this one, but that's not really on topic so whatever.

so, i like the mod.

uemh, that's Risugami's thread...

my mod and Risugami's audio mod isn't the same! audio mod adds the ability for modders to add sound files for their mod, my mod adds the ability to change the current sound files.

1. get some awesome music files
2. convert them all to ogg format (you can use this site for it)
3. replace the original sound files with your own (%appdata%\.minecraft\resources\)

So... exactly what is YOUR work here, the bo.class file?
Because I installed any of the 3 soundpacks, with downloading your bo.class file and installing it, and it worked perfectly fine.

Which class file do I need to overwrite if I want to add a custom music disc song?

I've pushed out an update for the newer version of Oblivioncraft, it no longer includes the cz.class or DO_NOT_UPDATE.txt
