This seems to be a problem that comes up a lot, so apologies in advance if I've missed the answer.
I can't seem to get Amidst to run at all. I click the app and nothing happens. I've tried using the terminal command line and get the message "Unable to access jarfile AMIDST.jar"
Using the latest version of Amidst
Minecraft 1.5.2 - clean jar file!
I have the latest version of Minecraft (1.5.2), Java, and AMIDST (v2.1) on Windows 7, but it will only generate Default Biomes worlds from both seed and level.dat, regardless of if you specified/the map is Large Biomes or Superflat. There are no error logs, as the program does not seem to be treating this as an error.
EDIT: Never mind, this was already known and mentioned in this thread, sorry to bother you.
I have windows 7 and got the .Exe but my laptop wont let me use the Exe. and is telling me to go get the .Jar files instead....
what should i do?... plz help

AMIDST is not meant to show what you have built, but just the biomes based on the vanilla code and the seed of your map. If you want a mapping program that will show what you have built, use Minutor, it will show your map and the explored area and what changes you have made. It is compatible with most new mods out there, just install the mod pack definitions. AMIDST only shows biomes, and only in vanilla, no mods, but it will let you zoom out and explore what biomes are nearby, if for instance, you want a plains biome to go look for horses.

would it be terribly difficult to get it to work with a moded client? It would be awesome to see what a seed would like with a modded client before I start the world

How do I run it? I know I have to add a -noverify flag but I have not got the faintest idea how to do that to an exe file.
See above. If you don't have a modded client, you can create a batch file with this as the only line:
java -noverify -jar AMIDST.jar
Copy that and paste it into a blank notepad file, save as AMIDST.bat (not .txt) and place that file in the same folder you have donwloaded AMIDST.jar to (not AMIDST.exe). Double click the batch file to run. If you still get the same error, you most likely have a modded Minecraft client.
If you are on mac or linux, I have no idea how to get the above to work.

All you guys have to do is right click in the amidst.exe then "Add to the file" and right click on the compressed file, then "Open with" and select "Java(TM) Plataform SE Binary" and amidst must run.
If there's no "Java(TM) Plataform SE Binary" option to open with, select another program; in the program files folder there must be a Java folder, enter in the folder, and then enter in the "bin" folder, and select the program "Javaw". (Javaw is a .exe file)
This is awesome! Incredibly useful. I just have one question: with 1.6 approaching, I think dungeons are going to get even more important (since they may contain saddles, horse armor, and name tags). Will dungeons be added to the list of things this tool detects?
So my question is could either facts from the history of my save file have anything to do with this?
More importantly, is there a fix? Or at least, is there a way to get an accurate read of my actual save file?
I think the terrain generation has varied from version to version, so this only gives you accurate biomes for the current terrain generation algorithm. Since your world was generated from an older version of that algorithm, there's a mismatch. I think an option to specify what version the world was generated in would be an excellent feature.
I actually downgraded my minecraft to 1.4.7, and to a few 1.5 snapshots, but it didn't help.
That's because the AMIDST program operates independently of Minecraft. It takes the seed you give it and generates the map through its own terrain generation algorithm (which happens to match the most recent one Minecraft uses). Changing Minecraft's version doesn't affect the program at all; for you to get accurate results with AMIDST they would have to add the other terrain generation algorithms to the program itself and give you the option to choose between them.

This is the hot button question that needs an answer!
Have You tried uninstalling and reinstalling Minecraft and/or Admidst
Yes and yes.No change. The right click to move the player needs to be restored. It worked just fine up untill the current update.
Skidoodle:
Do you even read this thread? Do you still maintain this awesome tool? I hope so. Please respond.
Probably busy with real life stuff. If you really need to move your player, just use MC Edit.

I doubt this will ever happen.
Go to your Norton quarantine area and tell it to restore the file and leave it alone from now on.
Most likely you have a modded client, AMIDST doesn't work with mods, vanilla only.

Bug is still in v2.1 .
