did you not see that i said that my minecraft client is 1.5.1??
Yes, did you not see I wasn't just replying to you? Be sure your client is 1.5.1 by checking in-game on the home screen, because you can't tell just by the file name. If you aren't 100% it's a non-modded jar file, just re-download 1.5.1 to be sure.
Are you getting the exact symptoms I described? E.g. the menus and everything appear but when you try to load a seed nothing happens.
Also, your OS information, Java version, etc, would also be pretty helpful. I don't see another post of yours with any of that information.
I click load from file and load my level.dat, which is pure vanilla w/o mods and it doesn't do anything, it just leaves a blank screen.
When i just click load from seed it also has the same problem, i enter the seed and the screen remains blank.
As far as I'm aware, AMIDST does not show map alterations whatsoever.
What I mean is if I load the data file from my world save in 1.5.1, does it load the chunks in that version in my world, so that when 1.6 comes out in the new update I won't be able to find horses because the world's chunks will have already been loaded. Does it load chunks in a world save?
I can confirm that it DOES NOT work with minecraft 1.5.2. I did, however, pull it up using an old 1.5.1 minecraft.jar, and it did work. For those of you having problems, i would recommend doing downloading the 1.5.1 .jar file until it is updated for 1.5.2

The way I see it, AMIDST works by essentially grabbing the seed of the world you selected and not the saved chunks. It will use the generator from your 'minecraft.jar' to determine the terrain with the given seed.
This means AMIDST does not alter your world in any way. Either way, you could always take the seed of your world and just load via seed rather than world.

Additional note: if you use a tool like Magic Launcher you should be able to keep 'minecraft.jar' as the 1.5.1 version and have other profiles for other versions. For example: I'm currently keeping my minecraft.jar as 1.5.1 because I've been using AMIDST a lot lately, and I never run off that jar anyways.

Is that what you're asking?
Yes, and I already have done it with my single player world. I was wondering if I was going to have to MC Edit the stuff I built into a new world with the same seed.
- Windows 8 - Java 7 Update 21 - 1.5.1 - 1.4.6 - 2.0.44 - When I enter the seed or file it doesn't do anything - -86898257 - When I enter the seed or file it doesn't do anything

Ah. Well, using AMIDST shouldn't cause any problems with the world you load, in any way whatsoever. What you're suggesting with MCEdit would have to do completely with the version of MC you were using versus the version you want to start using, all due to changes with world generation.
All in all I'll just say that loading a world in AMIDST is not actually loading the world... it's essentially telling AMIDST to take the seed of said world and use it for display. I believe it also reads player locations from '/players' but I've never really used that feature for anything.
Of course I didn't write the code of AMIDST (or even look at it), but it would make sense that 'from world' is simply a shorthand for manually grabbing the seed of your world and using 'from seed'. (Plus the player locations if you really need them.)

That sounds exactly like the problem I described many people are having. Are you absolutely sure you tried with the 1.5.1 jar?
It gives a NullPointerException when i open it as .jar, and it doesnt work at all if i open as .exe
What's your operating system (W7, W8, Mac, Linux, etc)? How about your Java version? Does it do anything at all if you open the .exe? (I doubt it's a problem with MC because AMIDST itself doesn't even open.)
will it be possible to be able to make it so that it show xbox seeds to????

So uh... just a heads up... I'm about to release a 1.5.2 update, but I'd like to note that I'm moving Amidst to be completely open source, and Flying Sheep of the forums here has been helping a lot with the code.
This update won't contain any -major- additions yet, but there's definitely new stuff being worked on.
Seriously though, thanks Flying Sheep for the help.
Edit:
Update released. (Took me longer than usual, as I got myself locked out of adf.ly for forgetting my password)
Thank You!!!
I definitely like the new load from file window in the Windows version.
I still don't understand why I have to specify the level.dat file.
What other file would I be opening with Amidst?

hi folks
a small problem with large biomes maps - 'computer says no' - when I select the large biomes tab I just get an ordinary non-lb map. this is for the latest amidst, clean 1.5.2 mc, and seed input by me (not from file) windows 7. thanks
Amidst's generation of Seed 6170198479862197590 does not match Minecraft's generation. Magic Loader with VillageInfo and Optifine. Since neither touch terrain generation, this is irrelevant.
Edit: actually, as above: Large biome option is being ignored.
White screen thing has me thinking you should check my last post. Though I'm not sure considering those class errors... I never received any myself.

Unable to find minecraft.jar, please locate it.
And the jar file IS for 1.5.1. Made absolute sure of that. No idea what is going on. Help would be appreciated.

In case that info about my comp is needed.
EDIT: My java is updated and I've tried running it as an exe and jar both with the same results of an unrecognized 1.5.1 jar.
