I'm very annoyed right now. I've wasted my time trying to find out how to use
java -noverify -jar AMIDST.jar. Can someone tell me how the heck do I do this?!
If you're on windows, use right click and drag the AMIDST.exe file a little bit away from the original, let go the mouse button and a pop up should appear giving you some options, select "Create Shortcut here" then right click that icon and select properties. In the dialog that shows, the tab at the top labeled shortcut should already be selected, if it isn't, select it. In the fields below, one is labeled "target" it should have the path already filled in. Move the cursor ahead of that path and enter the "java -noverify -jar " in front of it, no quotes, leave the space at the end. Mine looks like this:
The computer added the C:\Windows\System32\ in front of the java by itself. You now have a shortcut in noverify mode. Yours will look a little different depending on where you have saved the AMIDST file. Double click that shortcut and it should work.
I know what it means by add the flag -noverify or whatever--I open up command prompt and then type in "cd >directory where the exe is<"; then "java -noverify -jar AMIDST.jar"--but the error message saying that i have to do that still keeps popping up. I don't know if any of that makes sense but can you help me please?
Do you have a modded jar? This is usually the cause. Rename your modded jar and get a fresh one by force update in the Minecraft launcher. If your jar isn't modded, then I don't know, try the shortcut method I explain above.
I tried putting the ava.-noverify -jar AMIDST.jar in the target but it isnt working but the CMD flashes on my desktop for a second. Here is my target thing.
C:\Windows\System32\java.exe -noverify -jar AMIDST.jar"C:\Users\Rita Kinch\Downloads\AMIDST.exe
See those quotations right there?-----------------------^ Get rid of those, and put a space there.
Then it should work... I hope.

Is there any way to use this tool with a modded system?
I saw the trick on page 129. It basically relies on giving the seed of your world to AMIDST, and letting it generate a new world with vanilla minecraft.
But I have mods that add villages.
My world is built up from 123 and forward
My world differs from how the same seed generates in 147. Most changes are minor, some significant.
And, I'm on a mac, not a PC. So tricks involving playing with exe's are less helpful to me.
(In regard to a mod that gives realistic animal genetics):
Would you really rather have bees that make diamonds and oil with magical genetic blocks?
... did I really ask that?

It won't work with mods, plain and simple. The mods you have change the world generation so much that AMIDST would be useless in your case. It will only show you what the world will look like in the vanilla version of your seed.

Yes, there are exceptions to the technique that I described on page 129. In my testing, the modded jar workaround that SkiDoodle provided was intended to deal with any mod that alters world generation as it relates to Forge. These are the tech mods, and people were having issues getting AMIDST to run with Forge installed as well as the mods that require it. Mods that add villages is actually something that I've never heard of. I am sorry that mine and SkiDoodle's workaround didn't work for you.

Both EBXL and MoreVillageBiomes add villages where vanilla does not.
EBXL changes what biomes are used, so swamps (and others) are in different locations, which also moves villages around (as well as swamp witch areas).

This may be seen as an odd question, but could you make a version that uses old Beta 1.7.3 generation? I want a way to visualize the biomes on an old world.

I believe my oldest supported version is 1.8.1, but I could be wrong about that. What you might consider doing is trying the VERY old versions of this, back when it was minecraft stronghold finder.

What it should be is this:
The quote needs to be there, but there has to be a space before it, and an end quote is also needed.
I tried what you suggested but it still does not work. All I get is the CMD console flashing on the screen really quickly.
EDIT: I have the latest Java
Here's an image to prove that I'm running it correctly:
Is it the fact that I'm using jre7?
Its the fact that you may be using a moded .jar try using a clean one
Thanks!
If you look the answer was a couple post up fyi.

It used to work for me. But the newer versions have not been working...
How about being able to see the nether? Fortresses, spawners, etc.
Thanks
