He makes it sound like we should just forget it happened.
I think he's forgetting to take in to consideration people who were directly effected. As a midwesterner, I know almost nobody who was directly effected by 9/11, so it is almost comparable in a sense to people starving in africa; it sucks they die, but I have no experience with the event personally so the sympathy I would give is intellectual, not emotional.
Of course, if people you know died, you should handle that the way the works for you and it would be ridiculous for anybody to tell you otherwise. Rather, it's the people who have turned 9/11 into an excuse to gain ratings on tv, sell flags and t-shirts, or even just play armchair patriot for a day that are making it a nuisance topic.
While I don't condone the onset of sudden patriotism, I still feel like it's something I just can't get past. Even after ten years I'm deeply saddened by the loss of those lives. Yes, I'm aware that life passes by every moment of every day, and the people who pass are of equal importance - but there's something about seeing lives snuffed out by hatred that stings every time you think about it. There was never a need for them to die like that. Nor is there ever a reason a life should be taken in anger, regardless.
I don't know, perhaps we're just sentimental fools by dwelling on it as much as we do. But doesn't it still sting, just a little, whenever you look up and realize that all of the sudden, those people were just...gone... and they're never coming back. Even if I didn't know them, it seemed too soon to say goodbye.
You implied my original statement wrong, as I didn't mind staying and viewing the argument, but my opinion was that it should of ended. But i understand from my own sentence it wasn't clear whether I wanted to be here or not; reason being I didn't expect some person being to cautious in every statement made and seems to be informing people on useless things such as paradox's. Grow up.
Alright, that shooting in Norway that killed a bunch of people, did you care about that or did you show a lack of respect for all the people that lost there loved ones and there lives?
Mind you, I have friends who were there, friends who had friends die, even saw them die. I paid my respects to them, as I have to the 9/11 victims.
This is the biggest tragedy the USA has ever ****ing seen. You need to get your head out of your ass to realize this though.
If the American people see this as the biggest tragedy, I am tempted to stop caring at all. IMO the 100-1000 civilians killed by US soldiers EACH DAY is a tad bit more important, and it should be to you too.
Its not just that all those people died, it was the first attack on US soil and so many innocent people died.
So what? Whether it was the first of tenth doesn't matter at all, this only shows that you got lucky. And if 300 is many, then how about those who died in Hiroshima and Nagasaki? How many "many"s do you need, about 700, I think?
You have no idea what your talking about and its ridiculous how stupid as hell you are. Your just pissed that Norway sucks ass.
I know perfectly well what I am talking about. I am rather smart, actually (inb4 someone asking me a ridiculously hard question in an attempt to disprove me), and Norway happens to be the best country in the world at the moment.
why yes I care you asshat. I lost my uncle and older brother in it. Gee, I think I am a bit sad since I haven't seen either of them for ten years. I may or may not have just come back from a get together to celebrate their lives. Why, yes I am a bit sore about it, could you tell?
My condolences. I too have lost someone, and guess what, I don't have a problem moving on after 10 years.
Also, "Asshat". Quite original.
And really, OP and others, you have to look at it from another perspective. How would you feel if you lost someone close to you, never able to talk to them again?
Right now, you're just being a ****. "OH, GET OVER IT, WORSE THINGS HAVE HAPPENED!" Yes, you're right, they have. However, how does that stop us from mourning the ones we love lost 10 years ago?
Yes, I have, actually. It sucks. But after 10 years it kinda doesn't matter as much anymore, just as it shouldn't.
Why why UR A **** U KNOW R u a terrorist, A spawn from hell? Wtf. People died it was a tragedy. So many people died. Maybe if one of your family members died u would give a ****.
Why, why? You're a ****, you now? Are you a terrorist? A spawn from hell? WTF? People died; it was a tragedy. So many people died. Maybe if one of your family members died, you would give a ****.
Correct translation?
Because, I'm sick o hearing about it, that's why. I am a subjective realist. I am not a terrorist, in fact I am a semi-pacifist. There are no evidence that such a place as the hell you refer to exist, but if it does, no, I'm not from there. Indeed they did, indeed it was. I do give a ****, but not as much as you'd like me to.
So by the OP's logic, why should I care about the people that die of dehydration? I mean if he won't care about a disaster then why should I care about people across the world that I don't even share a connection to?
By my logic, you should care equally for each person. That means you should care about the rest of the world roughly 18000 times more than 9/11. Or are you saying that Americans are more worth than other people?
for the people that keep spouting "MORE PEOPLE DIE FROM STARVATION FROM OTHER COUNTRIES EVERY DAY" - how much do you do for those people other than bring it up to support your anti americanism? do you do anything for those people?
I do indeed. I work, collect and donate money for them. How about you?

Okay, mother.
Goosesteps off out of thread...
Proceed.

....most of the world would describe Americans by that word.

I already am, thank you.

Never forget history. Those who do are doomed to repeat it. I'm just saying we should have moved on already.
