In Minecraft, the adventure update is soon coming out, and, in fact, the pre-release is already out! Being the adventure update, I would expect a LOT more things to explore and conquer. One of these being graveyards.
Yes, we all know what a graveyard is. But here's my exact ideas for it.
1. How and where it is generated?
Graveyards would generally generate in grasslands, mostly near NPC villages, excepts, these NPC villages would be uninhabitated, or inhabitated by zombie pigmen instead of the planned regular pigmen. They would turn all blocks beneath them into dirt/grass, and turn this into a dead grass. Also, scattered in the graveyards would be, of course, graves. 2. Why should I go and why shouldn't I go?
Well, I'll start with why you SHOULDN't go to a graveyard. One reason is, if you enter a graveyard, the NPC Village of zombie pigmen that it belong to will become angry. Of course, if you want, you can just wipe out the entire village. Another reason is, inside each grave is a mob spawner, which has a 25% chance of spawning skeletons, 25% chance of spawning zombie pigmen, and 50% chance of spawning a zombie. This alone should scare of most "newbies." But now, to the, why should I enter the graveyard? Well, underneath the mob spawner in each grave is a chest. Inside this chest, their will either be rotten flesh or bones, depending on what the mob spawner above it was, and, also, their will be random items that will depend on the occupation of the person buried there. For example, on the tombstone, it might say:
Herobrine Persson
Stalker
"He always scared me."
Just kidding, there won't be Herobrine spawners, but, my point is, since his Occuption (Middle Line) was stalker, the items in his chest might be things like a telescope. I don't know, I don't think Herobrine with the occupation of stalker will be put into the game. But, let's say someone was a blacksmith, then, instead their chest would maybe be some iron and some coal. And that's the reward bonus. 3. Added Features (Mostly suggestions)!
1. Lighting is brought down, causing the mobs to not burn in the sun.
2. Mini-boss is found in a crypts (a crypts? I dunno!) and you can defeat it for loot.
3. There is maybe a 35% chance of there being a mob spawner in each grave. 4. More info!
A couple more things to say, the first being, please feel free to leave feedback!
The second thing I wanted to say is, I know the chances of this being added to the game are slim, I still have hope, and, also, I can also hope for this idea to be adopted by a modder. That being said, anyone familiar with Java, please contact me :biggrin.gif:.
Well, thats about it, please, leave your feedback down below, and, if you don't mind, hit that green button to the right :smile.gif:.
Very good idea! That could be so cool. If that got added I would be so freaked when I saw one. Maybe when mobs were in the graveyard area the sun would not burn them and the lighting level would be decreased to add effect!!!
I like it! IF the NPC's are pigmen, then zombie-pigmen and skeletons should be in there. If they are human, then graveyards should spawn regular zombies and skeletons. I think that there should also be a fence around the whole thing and at night the spawners allow the mobs to spawn. It would still be safe because of the fence.
So they would be a certain form of above ground dungeons? Not bad, not bad at all. And yeah, light should not affect these creatures. And maybe they could be more powerful versions of the mobs, or maybe new mobs all together.Plus, if bosses are added, then there could be a special boss (or maybe mini-boss would be a more appropriate term) that is found in the bottom of a crypt or something.
If nothing else, would be a great mod.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Taking trolling to a whole new level, one post at a time.
If they were to implement this to the game, I think they should go full out. Such as having an animation of a skeleton or pigmen etc. coming out of the grave, not just a spawner. Also, to have random chests in the grave so not everytime this is a chest in everygrave. Anways I am full on board for this. :smile.gif:
I think this is a WONDERFUL idea, but then again it would be hard to program automatically and randomly generated text already on a sign when you spawn in a world. Also, the whole graveyard/village would be overrun with mobs if you had a spawner in each grave, so how about a 10% chance of a grave having a spawner in it instead of 100%?
While it doesn't feel "necessary", focusing on necessities doesn't make a game very good.
I think that it wouldn't really kill gameplay too much (if there are severe benefits to regular villages, and you accidentally the spawn rate and just about every village you come across is a zombie village), while it would add quite a bit of entertainment.
Overall, I guess I'd have to say that I support. :33
Whoa. A lot of support here. Thanks. :biggrin.gif:. Well, anyways, some ideas that I like are-
1. Lighting is brought down, causing the mobs to not burn in the sun.
2. Mini-boss is found in a crypts (a crypts? I dunno!) and you can defeat it for loot.
3. There is maybe a 35% chance of there being a mob spawner in each grave.
There are other great ideas that you guys posted, I just picked out a few of my favorites, and, I'm adding them to the main post!

A nice add would be that one of the random chests in the graveyard, if opened, will summon a Ghast that will instantly become hostile!
When was it EVER SAID
BY ANY OF THE DEVS
that pigmen were planned
NEVER,THAT'S WHEN
That was not the point of the OP. What do you think of a graveyard as an addition to the village complex?

I tried it out, and I like it!
However, one thing that I would've liked was if it was bigger, and had some good loot in the chests :/.
