UPDATE
Sorry I haven't updated this recently, I've honestly been wanting to fix a few things and add a few more features before updating but I honestly haven't had time. I may update for 1.2, though.
Do you love minecraft but sometimes feel it would be even better if it had more blocks? Have you ever hated having to chose between two of your favorite textures or texture packs? Ever wanted to add your own blocks to the game or have more blocks you could build and decorate with? Well then this may be what you're looking for!
I introduce the Blank Block Mod! This mod currently adds a total of 16, blank blocks to the game!(As well at 16 matching stair cases.)
All of the blocks are really simple to make, requiring only 4 cobblestone in a square on the crafting table, then the "BaseBlock" combined with any of the dyes(Except CocoBeans)in order to craft the other 15 blocks.
Each block is easy remove by a single, simple punch but they're also incredibly resistant to explosions so you don't have to worry about tnt or creepers around your work.
All of the Block images can be found in the "Block" folder and each block is easy to edit, simply cut and paste the texture you want over the blank block(And expand it to fit your texture pack) and you're done! That easy!
Here is a video explaining the mod a bit more and showing off some of the features.
Here's a few simple screenshots.
Download and Installation:
Download ModLoader
Download BBM
Extract them both into a new folder(So you don't clutter up the place)
Find and open up your .minecraft folder(run %appdata%) and find your bin folder.
Open up "Minecraft" with what ever zip program you use and drag and drop all of the files from modloader and BBM directly in.
Delete Meta-Inf folder and you're done!
Do NOT have minecraft open while doing this.

Changelog
Added Steps and mini-step blocks, 16 glow blocks, 16 Glass Blocks, and put them all under metadata to save room.
Great mod! This is going to breed some amazing maps I'm sure.
I have a few questions though;
1) Do blank-block stairs work normally (you can walk up them)
2) Which folder is the "Block" folder in?
3) If we wanted to use this to decorate a map, and we used specific textures, how would we make the texture selection automatic (the player just adds the packs to the "texturepacks" folder and they're done).
Also, just some additional requests/ideas;
1) How about an easier way to select textures (and make them almost limitless)? Maybe use 10 different dye's to represent number 0-9, then you can just order them in a horizontal bar to select a certain texture. it would allow almost 1,000 different textures! Only downside is if you added so many textures, TMI would get real crowded.
2) Maybe a world-specific config file where you'd type in the name of the texture pack (as its archive is named perhaps), then what block texture you wanted to correlate to what number.
3) How about a different texture for each side? The top of a block could be the floor, while the bottom could be a ceiling. It would make it easier to add carpeting to buildings without making the ceiling look terrible.

1) They work JUST like basic stairs.
2) The download includes a "Block" folder with all the textures in it.
3) To add to a texture pack, simply add a "Block" folder in your texture pack and paste your textures over them.
1) I plan on adding many more blocks to the game but right now I figured 16 is good for now and easiest to craft.
2) I'm not quiet sure what you mean here.
3) Blocks with multiple textures? I forgot to add that to my list but I do plan on it, so no worries.
I mean, instead of having the textures apply to all world files, you could have specific texture selections for each world. This way, a medieval style map would have access to different textures than a map set in modern-day New York, New York.
Just to be sure can I mix and match resolutions? Right now I am using tydoku but I would like to add some textures from ovos rustic pack would that be possible or must the new textures match the resolution of your texture pack?
Also I realize that mixing a 16x pack and a 256x pack would look stupid it would just be good to know if it were possible.

I am not sure how the patcher works but The standard blocks are 16x16 and my texture pack is 32x32 so it should work, but you're right. mix matching may look a bit weird.
Could I suggest 2 hits to break with a tool to reduce frustration brought on by mis-clicks? A single punch makes the blocks feel quite flimsy considering that they're suppose to be building material. I believe there are already single hit mods for people that want to break blocks instantly if they choose. Super Punch I think one is called.
Also, I don't suppose it would be possible to have a config file so people can name the blocks based on the texture they assign to them? That way, texture pack authors could provide a custom .txt or something that has the names they used for the blocks as an option. If they provided support for your mod, they'd obviously have a link to it which provides your mod with more exposure.
I've honestly been looking for a mod just like this for a week while working on a personal re-creation project and texture pack. The scene I'm trying to create in MineCraft is from a game with way way more than 1 wood texture and many ground/wall textures and it's been impossible to achieve and keep synergy with the rest of the textures. Kaevator's Wallpaper mod solved the wall problem but, until now, I only had a limited number of textures for the ground.
Great suggestions, I would love to add a config file but I'm still learning how to do stuff like that. However, its certainly a feature you can look forward to as this mod fleshes out more. As for being too flimsy? Hmm, I wonder if i can add more to the config file besides just names, if so people could literally customize the blocks as much as they want.
If not then...yeah, I'll likely boost their resistance a bit
