Introduction:

Team Fortress 2 is a game made by Valve, it is now completely Free to Play and very competitive.
It's widely known as one of the best co-operative, team based shooters of this entire decade, with very distinct classes and characters, each one having an even more distinctive personality attributed to it.

There's several game mods, and they mostly involve around a team (RED) capturing points, pushing the payload or capturing briefcases of the other team (BLU). There is no deathmatch mode as this isn't another generic shooter. You are supposed to work as a team here to accomplish different goals.

What makes this game so different from any other shooters is a combination of many things, but gameplay, mechanics and the characters stand out a lot.

Meet The Team

The Scout Posted Image

Posted Image

The Scout is a very agile character with a thick Boston accent and smugness to go along with it. He has double capturing rate out of all classes making them an invaluable asset in control point games.

His main strength is having the highest speed in game along with one of the most damaging weapons at close range: The Scattergun.

The Soldier Posted Image

Posted Image

The Soldier is a grizzled war veteran and the only class capable of shooting rockets from his weapons. He has the second highest health of all classes and is highly mobile if successfully rocket jumping. His rockets pack a mean punch and do area of effect damage making this class very dangerous against a clumped up team.

The Pyro Posted Image

Posted Image

The pyro is  (as you guessed it),  a pyromaniac. He wields a close range flamethrower which can devastate opponents if used right. The drawbacks of this is that he needs to ambush and catch enemies off-guard to do the killing. He's highly mobile and his airblast is invaluable to any team as it can push back rockets, sticky and grenade launcher bombs/grenades and put off ignited allies, as well as pushing back enemies.

The Demoman Posted Image

Posted Image

The Demoman, is a Scottish black cyclops. His main role is diversity and best compared to that of a soldier. His grenade launcher is hard to aim at but can be devastating against sentries and packs of enemies. He can lay down explosive traps with his sticky bombs and detonate them whenever he wants to, making this class a very good crowd controller and area of denial class.

The Heavy Posted Image

Posted Image

The Heavy is the hammer and tank of the team. Having the highest health and dps amongst all members, the Heavy can destroy an entire team under seconds. His main drawbacks is the fact he also happens to be the slowest of all the classes in the game. He's best paired up with a pocket Medic to reach an amazing 450 points of Health. His love for Sasha, his gun and the Sandvich, his sandwich are well known amongst Team Fortress 2 players.

The Engineer Posted Image

Posted Image

The Engineer is the sadist mechanic of the team. Spouting a Texan accent, he and his gadgets will absolutely wreck you in the open. He's one of the key classes of the team as he can build teleporters to get the other members across the map quicker, sentries to defend and deny area from the enemy team, and dispensers to hand out ammo and heal nearby allies.

The Medic Posted Image

Posted Image

The Medic is the healer of the team. His medigun will keep your health topped off, making him the key member of any team. His urberchargers can dictate alone if you'll win or lose a game, as uberchargers make the player and the medic invincible, just enough time to take down that sentry who's keeping your team back. He is best paired with the Heavy as the Heavy is a big target, but also has a lot of health, easily protecting the medic and the other way around.

The Sniper Posted Image

Posted Image

The Sniper is the dashing Australian rogue that will turn your head into a fine red mist before you even realize it. He can pick off enemies right across the map with careful aiming without ever being at the risk of losing any health. Spies, however, will take the opportunity of you being distracted scoping to backstab you, so be as paranoid as you can.

The Spy Posted Image

Posted Image

The Spy is a very charming and deadly French man. He can go invisible, successfully infiltrating and bypassing enemy frontlines to backstab enemies. He also carries around  an electronic sapper. He can disguise as an enemy team member and sap enemy buildings destroying them. Try to not spill blood on his suit when he kills you.

And that's the team.

For any further info on Team Fortress 2, please just ask and discuss on this thread or feel free to read the TF2 Wiki, as it really has a lot of information from guides, to just general tips everyone should be aware of (like damage fallout). It really is great and I recommend everyone to read a couple of articles there.

My contribution:

On a final note I'd like to advice people to go slowly into the game. It's very difficult and you're going to die a lot before you'll become any good at all. So take it easy please, learn things as you go and try not to get frustrated.

Experiment with different classes and find out which one you should use as a main. And I say "as a main" because in Team Fortress 2 you play all classes depending on the map and the game's atmosphere, not just one.

Personally I main as Soldier, Pyro and Medic respectively. Remember that you don't need any of the fancy weapon drops to be good at the game. Most and by most I mean 90% of them are all side-grades, not upgrades.

This is me as a demoman using vanilla weapons.

Posted Image

And this is me as a soldier with the default rocket launcher:

Posted Image

So you see, you don't need any fancy weapons to be absolutely devastating towards the enemy team.

If you'd like to play sometimes just send me a message and I'll add you on Steam. Never really coached anyone before.

Also I don't have a server but if someone has I think it would be good to make a MCF server for us Minecraftians to play on.

Do you think it's worth buying anything? As in hats, taunts etc. Being F2P I'm not sure.

That entirely depends.
I have been playing for a while now, have vintage weaponry, the Halo and everything else you can imagine. I bought the game for 20 bucks back then and as such have a premium account now.

I've never bought anything from the store however, as most things can be crafted. From the store, I'd advice on buying hats, keys or paints. Some accessories/misc too.

At least to get the benefits of a premium account.

Crafting any item is way too expensive. I think it's just worth buying it or just finding it after Wednesday.

Not entirely sure about that. I know their inventories are limited and they can't trade. But they can receive gifts.

Disagree. Most items aren't very expensive though some really are.

You get around 8 drops every week, which can be anything. If they're weapons you can turn them into scraps and from scraps you can turn them into weapons you want.

You stole my thread format. :iapprove:

Though the number of times I've played the game is under 10, I do like the game.
I've played mostly as 3 classes.

The Engineer, because I love building things.
His meet video might also be my favorite.

The Sniper, because sniping is glorious.
Sadly, Team Fortress has overbalanced him and I tend to not gain the satisfaction I usually get from sniping.

Lastly, the Spy.
Stealth is great, and I'm rather good at it.
