Thank you for visiting UnicornCrux Mods. Sorry for the delays in updating, actually a lot of this update is a month or two old. Just lost motivation for a while after realizing most of the ideas I've made into or planned to make into mods have been already done, and often better, by others. Particularly while playing on a Tekkit server and finding that tanks in BuildCraft have the same functionality of the Barrel, finding a Diamond Drill from Industrial Craft(or maybe BuildCraft, can't remember which its from), mass mining machines, and the omni tools in Equivalent Exchange. You get the point, original or not, it sucks the energy out of you to find your ideas have been better executed to a larger crowd already. But, in the end, I'm doing this for my own enjoyment and improvement, so eventually I keep going anyway, and maybe a few people will enjoy what I put out.

On a side note, once the actual Mod API is implemented in Minecraft, all mods will be updated to be SMP compatible.

Current Update:
Update 3/25/2012
Updated Mining Tools mod to v5.0 for Minecraft 1.2.3 and v5.1 for Minecraft 1.2.4
Updated Barrel mod to v4.0 for Minecraft 1.2.3 and v4.1 for Minecraft 1.2.4
Added new mod Canvas mod v1.0 for Minecraft 1.1, updated to v1.1 for Minecraft 1.2.3, and updated to v1.2 for Minecraft 1.2.4
Discovering modloader can load straight from zips, all uploaded versions altered to be in correct zip format. Simply plop in the mods folder(previously was a nested folder in the zip and had to be extracted to work)
Updated In Progress and Install

To Install

All mods require Risugami's ModLoader. Follow the directions on his page for installing that.

Afterwards, all you need to do to install my mods are download, and place the zip folder inside your AppData/Roaming/.Minecraft/Mods folder. The exact location of your minecraft may vary by operating system.

Item IDs listed and in config files are NOT shifted, the ID used in game is that item's ID + 256. If you are having an ID conflict with another mod, the ID given will be the shifted ID, subtract 256 and that is the ID you want to alter in the config.

These mods use ModLoader and are for SSP(survival single player) only. They may cause issues with SMP(survival multiplayer) or if a world modded by one is loaded without the mod installed. I do not take any responsibility for damages caused to files or gameplay by misloading or misuse of this mod.

Changing Options

To change options for a mod, for example whether Drills break or not, takes only a few steps. First you must run Minecraft once after installing the mod if you have not already used it. You don't have to load a save file, merely login and load up to the start menu so that the game will initialize the config files. Then close out and go to your minecraft folder, usually C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\ and open the config folder.
Spoiler
Next open the config file for the mod you want to edit, in this case MiningTools.cfg
Spoiler
Inside this file you will find the options and content ids of the mod for you to change. Changing ID #s may allow you to use this mod alongside other mods it would conflict with by normal settings, however be aware unusual object changes and/or crashes may occur if you load a previous save file after changing ID #s.

For changing the Drill Maintenance, there should be no conflicts switching back and forth. To turn it on(set on by default) change the option setting to yes, in all lowercase, like so:
Spoiler
To change the setting to off, change it to no, like this:
Spoiler
Be sure to leave all other spacing and wording alone, or the mod will consider the cfg file invalid and rewrite the default. On this note, if any of my mods stop working after you have made a change, you can delete a line in the file or remove the file and the mod will rewrite it.

Recipes:

Oil:
Posted Image
Oil is used as fuel for Regular and Diamond Drills. It is also a necessary component in the various Mining Bombs. It is made using Dirt and Coal/Charcoal

Posted Image

Regular Drill:
Posted Image
The Regular drill is used for faster mining and requires sticks, redstone, iron ingots, and flint to make. Holding down right-click on a block with the drill equipped for a short while will consume one unit of oil. The drill harvests the block you activated and 1 block in all directions(like a plus + sign). This will mine most minerals except diamond and obsidian, it will not mine trees and other vegetation. You can also hold down left-click to use the drill as the equivalent of a Stone Pickaxe/Shovel.

Posted Image

Diamond Drill:
Posted Image
The Diamond drill is used for faster and cleaner mining and requires a regular drill, redstone, and diamonds.. Holding right-click on a block with the drill equipped will consume one unit of oil to harvest a 3x3x3 cube around the clicked block as the center. This will mine all minerals and rocks including diamond and obsidian, it will not mine trees and other vegetation. Holding the left-click uses the drill as an Iron Pickaxe/Shovel on single blocks.

Posted Image

Broken Drills:
Posted ImagePosted Image
If enabled(enabled by default) Drills break down after so much use, being replaced with a broken counterpart. To repair a drill, you can combine two broken drills of the same type together for a partially repaired drill. Or, to fully repair a drill, you can combine it with a few parts of the original to fully repair it. A piece of Iron Ingot and a Flint will fully repair a Regular Drill, and a piece of Diamond and a Flint will fully repair a Diamond Drill.

Posted Image

Mining Bombs:
Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image
The Mining Bombs are various element bombs used both as large storage and projectile placement. They come in dirt, sand, gravel, and torch variety, requiring one oil surrounded by the desired element. Launch with the right-click and where it lands a 3x3x3 cube will be filled with that material. It WILL replace lava and water with the element. They are great for filling in around minerals you want to mine so that if there is lava directly beneath, you are not going to lose your mineral or risk falling in. The torch bomb is perfect for lighting up dark chasms and caves when exploring.

Posted Image

Reinforced Glass:
Posted Image
Reinforced Glass is a sturdier form of glass, primarily used as a component for the Mining Camp. Unlike regular glass, it will drop glass blocks when destroyed, making it also a means for storing glass at the cost of the cobblestone required to make it.

Posted Image

WorkShop:
Posted Image
The workshop is a shapeless recipe that requires a chest, a workbench, and an oven. The result is a multitool workshop that includes a crafting grid, two independent oven slots, and 18 spaces of storage.

Posted Image

Mining Camps:
Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image
The mining camp requires reinforced glass and a workshop to make. You place it on the ground where you want your camp and right-click it. The Mining Camp when expanded place any necessary walls/floors/ceilings, with a bed and workshop within, and lights the area up for sleeping. The Mining Camp does not clear any blocks except a few things like snow and liquids that impede the walls/ceiling/floor, otherwise the area remains completely intact, though some inner-clearing may be necessary. When removed, only glass and stone bricks making up walls/ceiling/floor, the door, bed, and workshop are removed.

Depending on how much reinforced glass is used in the recipe, there are three different sizes of camps.

Posted Image

Swiss Mining Knife:
Posted Image
The swiss mining knife is multitool that is comprised of a sword, pickaxe, shovel, axe, hoe, and also requires two iron ingots and two wooden planks in the recipe. The recipe is shapeless so that the user does not have to remember a complicated order to the many objects the recipe requires. Using wooden, stone, iron, gold, or diamond tools makes a Swiss Mining Knife(SMK) of that material respectively. The SMK has all the functionality of these tools, with the use count of about 6 times one tool by itself. It also shears leaves on contact, and when striking a sheep will hit them as a sword and shear them at the same time. To prevent rust issues, the standard SMK will automatically close itself after a short period. Please refrain from dropping in lava.

Barrel:

With contents:
Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image
A barrel is a block size construct that holds up to 6 units of any of the following liquids: water, milk, lava, and soup. To make the barrel requires two buckets, two iron ingots, and some wooden planks. After placed on the ground, the barrel can be right clicked with a bucket or wooden bowl of liquid to deposit said liquid in a barrel, equally right-clicking with an empty bucket or wooden bowl will withdraw the current liquid. Barrels will only hold one liquid type at a time, but if emptied, they are more than willing to change content type for you. Simply break a barrel into an item by normal procedures to carry it with you and place anywhere else, contents intact. Makes for great picnics with mushroom soup and holds enough for the whole family!

Canvas Mod

The Canvas and Paintbrush are a pair of items intended to allow you to add a little more personal flare to your surroundings, including making notes and directions that are more interesting than text signs.

The Canvas is the main star of this mod, created by surrounding a piece of leather with sticks. In order to place it, right-click on a surface(can even be bottom or top of a block). To paint on it, you will need to right-click using a Paintbrush. This opens a screen where you can choose a left-click color and a right-click color by left or right clicking on a color of the palette or the wash bucket(erase to transparent). You then use right or left click on the grid to change each square to that color. Potential future options include a mass-color/erase option, brush sizes, and alternate textures so you can make it look like actual blocks other than the one behind it.

Paintbrush:
Posted Image
The Paintbrush allows you to paint on a Canvas by right-clicking the Canvas with the Paintbrush in hand. Doing this does not wear down on the Paintbrush. An extra option with the Paintbrush is also to change the color of sheep to a random color by right-clicking a sheep with the Paintbrush. Doing so does slowly wear down the Paintbrush until it breaks and needs to be replaced.

This is amazing. But I'm confused on how to make a campsite ("small hollowed out safe house").
If you can't count up to 2,047 on your fingers, you're an idiot.

After you make the Mining Camp, place it on the ground and right-click it. It will clear any blocks within the center area of the camp("hollowed out") and place the camp walls. I'll rewrite the text so it makes a little more sense.

It's a piece of coal or charcoal surrounded by 8 blocks of dirt, sorry about that, mediafire seems to be having issues for me suddenly.
