This is by far the fastest elevator in minecraft. It goes from Bedrock to the sky in 5.64 seconds. Thats amazing. This design uses no redstone and is super easy to make. Check it out!!!

Anyways, you can go even faster by right clicking fast manually, rather than holding it down
And you can do the same for horizontal travel

A well known design. This is the first mention of it that I can recall.
Support the Allocator! Find my inventions such as my pressure plate removal detector on the About Me page of my profile.
I'm still looking for more feedback on my configurable Redstone Gate mod. All gates and common circuits (such as e.g. clocks, edge detectors, latches and Flip-Flops) in a single block.

Nice little elevator, but first of all, it's been done MANY times before, and second, it doesn't belong in the redstone forum since it involves no redstone.

I've had one in my save for a long time :S Nothing really new.
The good thing about this elevator is I don't think Notch will ever be able to patch it. The only patch for it that I can think of is making it so you have to walk into a minecart to get into it, which I'm sure would have tons of technical problems.

I don't know, it was a very bad video using boats stuck into walls of a mineshaft. It's essentially the same thing.

Yes, I believe I've seen this before, and while the concept is interesting, there is one thing I don't like about it: it abuses a bug. Even on worlds that I play legitimately, I prefer to not abuse bugs in my creations.

It's pretty cool! I was trying to do an elevator using complicated pistons and redstone. Had to rage-quit a couple times and i never actually finished it...
