From the makers of The Plague Seriescomes our brand new map that we believe to be even better than anything we've made. Patches will continue to be released so long as issues are found.. Let us know about them once you've played and they will be resolved ASAP. Anyways, give it a download and tell your friends!--domportera and pimpapotomous
I don't recommend playing this map anymore. The last time it was updated was for the Minecraft 1.9 Beta, and it won't be updated anymore. I don't even know if it works at this point.
Edit 9-19-22: I have removed the download link due to the file having expired years ago, and the remaining ad.fly link pointing to dangerous phishing websites as advertisers (I was young and naive). The map can no longer be downloaded, but there are plenty of lets-plays on youtube. If you really want to download it, I have a version I updated years ago for Minecraft 1.11.2 and 1.12 (post-beta) archived in my personal files. It might be broken, as I don't think I tested it fully. you can email domportera[atgmaildotcom] for a copy if you're fiending for it.
The map is designed for a maximum of 3 people. Solo play works too.
Updates history:
UPDATE 1.1 8/19/2011: Mob spawners fixed, sign discrepancy fixed!
UPDATE 1.2 8/20/2011: Nether path is made (much) more obvious, torches added to tracks so monsters dont spawn!
UPDATE 1.3 8/22/11: Shortened the initial walk, lessened the excessive amount of food given, labeled the dungeons so you know if you went the wrong way, made a path to dungeon two more obvious, shortened a minecart section, fixed an issue with the first dungeon automatically setting the player on fire.
UPDATE 1.4 8/23/2011: Fixed some mob spawners, some signs, the checkpoints, and some smaller issues. UPDATE 2.0 8/27/2011: The ending has been COMPLETELY redone, and it's beautiful. Spruced up small details here and there, fixed a mob spawner, small updates. But since the ending, and so the story, has been completely changed, I now call this version 2.0
UPDATE 2.1 No trail-destroying ghast anymore, improved navigation.
UPDATE 2.2 fixed a hole in the wall during dungeon 2 that I forgot to patch while working on that dungeon... whoops. fixed other small small issues that I felt I might as well do. Just a small touch-up.
UPDATE 2.3 9/16/2011: fixed little checkpoint issue, patched tiny things to fit my "OCD," and added an extra trap room
UPDATE 2.3.2 (forgot to write about 2.3.1 ) 9/19/2011: patched every tiny possible thing I could find. if there's any sort of error in this map now, I will be thoroughly surprised.
UPDATE 2.4 9/24/2011: tiny alterations I decided to make, also made the map much harder I think. also some larger alterations and I added stuff to the Nether.
UPDATE 2.4.1 9/25/2011: added more fishing poles where you would otherwise possibly be ****ed.
UPDATE 2.5 10/12/2011: brand new story, polished things, made life a little bit better in the Goldmine world.
UPDATE 2.6 10/12/2011: brand new beginning of the map, tiiiiny tiiny fix, tiny story altering
Let me know about any other issues you come across, I'd be glad to fix them.
Mediafire link to download version 2.6, 1.8 and 1.9 beta compatible:
Features a brand new story!
I need a Let's Play/ review for version 2.6! Anyone up to it?
Suggested texture pack: LB Photorealism pack, which is available from 16x16 through 256x256, whatever suits your system.
The map involves adventure, combat, and fun dungeons to get through. Also, we added some parkour in a couple places to change up some gameplay. Every challenge is possible, and none of the parkour is made so difficult that it's near impossible like some courses I've seen. Just time it right!

General InformationThis is one of the best adventure maps I have played till now. I had loads of fun with everything inside here. I will state one of the main problems. Difficulty. The dungeons difficulties are a bit unbalanced. At one point you can be bringing spiders to the point of extinction and next thing you know you are surrounded by a lot of zombies . Story 4.5/5: A Great Story! I loved the whole plot and it all fell into place. Great job! The ending was pretty quick however. I expected at least some puzzles Challenge 4/5: As stated above, the difficulty is a bit unbalanced. Overall however, I liked all the stages that were made. Environment 4.5/5: Pretty nice expect with all the messy minecart tracks all over Design 5/5: Each stage was well designed and made. Loved the nether running and zombie burning. Also Quote from one of your signs. Keep running. Do not lose momentum. Errors Section:
Monsters spawn along the minecart tracks. Recommend you block it up
What I like:Good storyBeautiful environmentsThe Nether Challenges What I do not like:Rather quick endingThe conclusion Great? Awesome? Ultimate? Well any good title will suit this map. A big recommendation to any players who hunger for a good adventure. Goldmine is your first choice.

Nico:The Goldmine (2.5) by Domportera - Score 9/10
It was a great map overall, I really enjoyed it. It provided enough challenge so that it wasn't boring but at the same time it wasn't too hard. It had a great mix of jumping puzzles, combat and exploring and I felt a lot of effort was put into it. Pros: It looked really good. It was fun. It wasn't too short. It provided some challenge. Great mix of challenges. I love the storyline! Checkpoints. Cons: Only thing I could really point out here is I really struggled with the digging through dirt thing in the 2nd dungeon, but other than that, a really great map! I would definitely recommend it.
Wileynator: ADV Goldmine 2.4.1 by domportera
This map leaves me speechless time and time again. It is almost flawless and everything is beautiful. It marries all different map types together so well and is perfectly challenging. It only falls short on it's plot.
After checking out some other reviews for this map I was quite ready to hop on in and experiance waht has a bit of a reputation. And let me tell you, the time that followed after this wasn't wasted. This map took a little under and hour to complete which is a nice length but I didn't find myself bored for most of the time. You usually always have something to do but in a good way. However I did find myself bored on the long walks which become fairly freequent.
This map was actually quite difficult and was very ingenious. There were many traps, some were obvios but very well set out. I've heard other people say this and it's true, some of these traps are like the mighty Vechz. Much effort went into this and all for a great result. Progression throught the map was done well and the combat steeped up in a great manner. However what I felt was a nice challenge was the survival aspect where you upgrade your own stuff from wood to diamond, if you had the patience! Puzzles were also very challenging and done well they all used redstone, combat and ingenuity to their full potential. Once again very well done.
The map itself was beautiful and had a lovley sense of freedom even in it's linear gameplay. It was also very nice and good looking, but in a simple fresh and clean way. Nothing was an eyesore and looked out of place, everything seemed to be just right - its hard to explain how great this was. Your giving Eronev's Mansion Adventure a run for its money!
However after saying all this they was one thing which brought the map down. It fell short on multiple occasions and wasn't touched on that much. Story sections were very short, usually only a couple of signs, too little even. The backstory was quite nice though but I would love to see it touched on more. The story was fun, but too abrupt and short.
for Plot: The plot was very short and was detailed that much, but howcome you didn't get a coal? Well you backstory saved you there as well as the wit that came accross in the little bits of the actaul story.
for Challenges: This mpa was brilliant, its puzzles were so great and the challenges and difficulty was perfect. This was achived in so mnay different ways, amazing.
for Aesthetics: The atmosphere in this map was brilliant and amazing.
for Grammar: Didn't spot anything
for Bugs: Flawless Gameplay
for Extra: This map has so much to offer and the combination of all the different map types worked brilliantly. What are you doing dom? Call this a ADV/PUZZ/SURV/EPIC!
4/5: This was a brilliant map and I loved it. Very very well done. I reccomend this to all. The map left me speechless at parts and the plot was all that stopped it from going 5 stars. This map is a perfect example of everything minecraft has to offer. Its up the top on my list!
He also gave me the title of Best Adventure Map along with Eronev's Mansion!
BEST ADVENTURE MAP - Eronev's Mansion Adventure & Goldmine
What a thrill. Has anyone ever been on a roller coaster will so many twists, turns, incredible
jumps, and excitement? If so, then prepare to repeat the experience. Goldmine, an amazing
adventure style map from the High Lord Domportera (*bows respectively*), is such a worthwhile
journey that when it all ends, you'll be screaming desperately at your computer screen for
more. Luckily you won't be left without... well, anything. This map contains elements of
all kinds of other map genres like CTM, survival, and puzzle. It fully utilizes the
"surventure" gameplay mode and figures out creative bonuses for it - like upgrading and more.
I seem to be layering things upon you at the moment, so if you're up for it, join me on the
hunt for the ever-lasting Goldmine!
1 hour. Perfect clock-in. While most adventure maps seem to take around this long to complete,
it all means nothing if the gameplay isn't worth it. In Goldmine's case, it certainly was.
All of the story related bits kept the player begging for more, and despite being short,
they were all well-written and entertaining. Also, the variety included throughout the three
dungeons were very fresh and likeable. The puzzles kept within all three were just as mind-blowing.
More on that later. The exploration features were a bit tiring and sometimes boring, though
they were luckily and easily countered due to some very welcoming architecture.
The hour was well-spent in my book. Despite my attention being lost for a few moments (exploration
overdose, as mentioned before), it was great fun. Find out why as I go into more detail later.
Difficulty? Obviously leather standard was left in the dust, iron standard is surpassed, and
gold difficulty was also conquered. Yes, Goldmine manages a diamond here. It is SO ingenious
here, the way redstone, traps, and puzzles were organized in a deadly fashion. Parts of the
map reminded me of Vechs' cruel tricks in the Super Hostile series. Yes, I just compared
a map to the almighty series - that should give you a clear idea of how much effort went into
this map. Each and every bit of the combat related challenges just seemed effortless, and
all the challenges flowed flawlessly into one another. My favourite challenge was one that
fully made use of the surventure gameplay feature - where you had to upgrade your tools
to diamond standard in the end after starting with wood. Of course, after all, some genius
ideas went here too. The third diamond ore was specially hidden so that you had to go searching
for a long, long, long time.
So, to sum it all up, both the combat and puzzle bits were so close to being flawless. If I
really was feeling generous right now, you would be getting a diamond chestplate plus a gold
ingot. This map had more than it needed here - it was most definitely journeying towards
perfection, but was cut back by one little flaw!
The story was the only bit where this map fell short. Literally. The story bits were short
as heck - often limited to one sign only. Thank the heavens that each one was written with
almost as much raw descriptive genius as Kmilley's notes in the amazing "Levi's Nightmare".
I loved the backstory, as the intriguing effect did not fall short in an regard what so ever.
Perhaps if domportera expanded further on the backstory about just why you were searching
for the Goldmine, which apparently has an ****** ***** ** **** (I don't know how to use spoilers,
but I don't want to ruin it for those who haven't played the map yet!). So, in all, the
story was a lot of fun but way, way too short. More, domportera! More! I need more!
Puzzles. I've covered just about everything in the difficulty section: how creative they were,
how they utilised redstone, combat, and pure genius to their gain, and just how fun it was
to admire them. They were often accompanied by sweet architecture and devious traps, a
really cool combination. Look back at the difficulty section again and you'll fully
understand why the map gets diamond here.
Atmospheric touch of gold? You betcha, as Jar Jar would say. The quest for the Goldmine
is such a cool idea, so is the idea of spare keys and three varied dungeons... I could go
on for as long as you can breathe. Everything - the short but sweet story, the amazing architecture, the lovely puzzles which always amazed you, contributed here. When it comes down to it, the atmosphere WAS the highlight here. It deserves more than diamond. It deserves platinum,
but of course Notch hasn't added that yet. Damn it, Mojang, I want to give domportera what
his map deserves, but I can't! Ugh.....
This map had me repeatedly saying "Wow," or, "Holy s***. That was a friggin sweet puzzle."
I'm not joking while I say this. Your map, domportera, was a lovely example of just what
Minecraft can offer - the chance to make your map as amazing as this. I am so pleased with
what I just played - to quote Fangride from his previous review - "it didn't get diamond,
but it was certainly reaching for it." Now that is a what to sum up what I just played.
Overall, this is what Goldmine's armor set looks like:
SO CLOSE TO DIAMOND!
TreF68 Best map I have played yet. The game seemed so open world even though it was quite linear. I think that is a mark of a great game. I think the linear aspect of the game is very important because ever open world type adventure I have tried I end up getting bored. This game made me feel like I was exploring the whole world while keeping me on track with the goal of the game... to get to the GOLD MINE! which was awesome i might add.
thanks
MineMapper: fun: 10/10
creative 8/10
A great map with lot of things to see
It takes really much time but itss fun anyway
overall: 9/10
Nediac: Most adventurous map i have ever played, i loved how the dungeons were mainly in the same area.
Too hard. XD
4 out of 5
When I was playing this map, I died too many times. XD Lost all my items, punched monsters in the face to finish the map. My fault i took every single item in the beginning chest... Loved the concept with the keys. Just overall amazing.

Length: About an hour
Difficulty: All depends on your skill level and what difficulty you set it at
Playthrough: 5/5
Decoration: 4.5/5
Scenery: 4/5
Hardness (lower being easier, higher being harder): 3/5 (depends on what difficulty you set it on)
Good Notes: I really liked the scenery, and the dungeons, how they were set up.
Bad Notes: I didn't like the redstone torch trails all that much. Not that they were bad..., it's just they were confusing sometimes when you got the trails close to each other.
Any side notes that might help: Make (instead of redstone trails), trails of different materials, so they know which one to take.
^domportera: since then I have taken his advice and the trails have been changed
Gramps223
First off, not bad! I liked it. Overall it was entertaining and such.
On finer details, I'd consider reducing the amount of instructional signs, and instead direct the player more subtly. I'm referring to the signs telling you to go home after dungeons (Herp). The traps were fun, but easily disabled which is partly due to my almost exclusive usage of Super Hostile maps for my custom map fix. Dungeon one was good for a first dungeon ever deal.. well done! I died in Dungeon two right at the water pit bit, 3 creepers decided to hop in with me! Dungeon 3 was sort of a let down for me, I think I killed one mob in it but there was the ice parkour and the dispenser thingy. That was cool, nice touch
Once again, good job, make more it ended too soon!
^(I fixed a lot from that review too)
ducuminer: Nice map me and my friend finished it amazing !
Afonso47: it's amazing
Destro168: Fun map ^^. An hour spent well.

Thanks to pixijenjen for beta testing for me, it helped loads, this map might have sucked some without him. Also thanks to shadowwolf for supporting my previous maps well! Lastly, thanks to pimpapotomous for co-creating the first version of this map with me.

Final note: I've heard some talk of people thinking the three keys in three dungeons is copied or something, I assure it was a completely original idea on our part, and its coincidence that it's similar to someone else's map, some professor redstone thing or something.

Aamazing map!!! I was thinking if you wann make a series of this, the second one can be trying to find a diamond mine, and the third one can be about becoming king because of the amount of diamonds you found. Just an idea :biggrin.gif:. Anyway it was an amazing map. I really injoyed it

"I often think about that old metaphor, the one that says we are all islands on a wide sea. Especially these days, now that things are more difficult than before and the world appears to be harsher than we once imagined it to be. We are all like islands, the philosopher said. Perhaps it's true. Yet I cannot help but remember an older saying, scratched on a cave wall somewhere by a long-forgotten prophet: in the end, the sea will claim everything."

on for as long as you can breathe.

Below are some screenshots of the map, doesn't reveal its secrets though! By the way, we never once used MCEdit
Thanks to pixijenjen for beta testing for me, it helped loads, this map might have sucked some without him. Also thanks to shadowwolf for supporting my previous maps well! Lastly, thanks to pimpapotomous for co-creating the first version of this map with me.

Let's Play
If you want to do a Let's Play for this map, please let me know that you're doing it, put a link to this thread in the description box of your video(s), and then link me to the videos, I like watching! If I like yours enough you may end up featured on here.
Final note: I've heard some talk of people thinking the three keys in three dungeons is copied or something, I assure it was a completely original idea on our part, and its coincidence that it's similar to someone else's map, some professor redstone thing or something.

I think hours would be an understatement. It's taken a long time, I'd say days in total, no idea how much though.
awesome, thanks! let me know what you think by the end!
thanks yet again! I don't think we'll be doing another, however I am considering making a spinoff where you hunt down the ******* who screwed you over:P
I decided to be an a**hole
Haha thats a good idea
funny thing you say that, because I did
"I often think about that old metaphor, the one that says we are all islands on a wide sea.
