What is Terracraft?
Terracraft is a mod which aims to introduce a major amount of Terraria features into Minecraft, hopefully all of them. The mod is currently a work in progress, but has updates from time to time. Currently, we have implemented about 50 blocks, over 100 items and a lot of world features, which is increasing with every update. We do not wish to turn Minecraft into Terraria, but rather implement what features Terraria has to offer. This is what differs Terracraft from some other Terraria mods.
Terracraft was the second ever Terraria mod for Minecraft, competing against Minerraria, Terraria 3D and MineTerraria.
Terracraft was first started by YoshisIsland for vanilla Minecraft. Later on, Trent and Glenn joined the team, and the mod was remade. Terracraft continued proper development on this build until 1.0. When 1.1 came out, a development build was made, but was unsuccessful. The community had long craved for compatibility, thus, we took the initiative to create a MinecraftForge version for Minecraft 1.1. Unfortunately, before the 1.1 version of Terracraft could be released, Minecraft 1.2 came out.
We are currently working on finishing our Forge version for Minecraft 1.1, in case some people are still playing on 1.1. Once that has been pushed out, we will update for 1.2.

Finally a new opening post!
Fun fact: Trent didn't make this new opening post.

Here is a list of most of our features.
There are more recipes, but they are currently not listed.
In the future, Terracraft will be using its own workbench. Thus, these recipes will no longer be used.

**EDIT: FINALLY DID IT. Now our mod can play Terraria music. Sounds great, right?
Without Modloader. This is really showing that Modloader is said to be overpowered and doesn't need to be used.
See? We're good coders. The mod still has one bug - volume - but it is all working otherwise!
Before anyone mentions anything about Minerraria and any other Terraria mod, please read this:
Competition is healthy.
Before anyone mentions anything about ModLoader, please read this:
It's in our to-do list, although with low priority at the moment. But a large amount of core Minecraft classes have to be modified due to the sheer size of this mod, therefore we cannot promise anything. We really want to convince you that mods aren't all about ModLoader, one day Risugami leaves, and lots of mods are doomed. Except this mod of course. We allow ourselves to finish this mod without the use of any API, THEN we can talk about making it for ModLoader.
Without using APIs, we are more free to do whatever we want without any restrictions. For example, ModLoader can't add custom GUIs(screens like inventory, crafting). If we were to use ModLoader only, we wouldn't get any potions GUI working. Modifying generation, especially increasing the chunk height, can still interfere with other mods.
Are the mods not compatible? Deal with it. We are adding so many new features it might just be worth it.
I for one have a few observations ... if the developers of this mod don't care about it being easy or compatible and are trying to only recreate a game that already exists why wouldn't we just play the original game instead of trying to turn minecraft into a totally different game.
While i hate be negative on anyone's effort to create a better minecraft, the creators of this mod don't really seem to care about the opinions of the people that they are making the mod for.
I wont be downloading this mod (and i am sure that wont effect the creators at all) i just felt the need to voice my concerns.

Some people prefer the Minecraft engine, but still want the cool features from Terraria. And allow me to clear something up: We are not trying to turn Minecraft into Terraria. We are actually combining the two, keeping almost everything from Minecraft, and adding the features from Terraria. About the mod being compatible with everything else, you should see my previous post.
We do want to listen to what the community is asking for, but sadly the community is mostly asking for something that we cannot do. Yet.

While i do agree compatibilty is something everyone likes for there mods sometimes its best to try new things,They will eventuly make this ML compat until then ppl can just give it a chance and try it by itself for the time being. They do care about ppls Opinions they just have had alot of Negative comments coming in so it can make ppl a little uptight. And yes compation is Healthy as it makes both sides try even harder to get more out or done b4 the rival.Ik alot of ppl are ML crazy..i for one am also,But at least im willing to give this mod a chance and try it,you never know you may like it alot more than you thought,Plus once they have gotten most of everthing done they will more than likely make a ML compat so just give it a try,it wont kill you to try it.
While this looks awesome, especially the height increase, I have to say, I can't download it. It means losing my Millenaire and Nature Overhaul, and I can't bring myself to do it.

Sorry for your dilemma. Besides - as of now, chunk height is *slightly* buggy, and that is for the next release. Glenn and YoshisIsland are both working very hard to bring you the next release. Dont download now - we haven't release the good stuff yet! We're trying.
On a side note - you can take a minecraft.jar, rename it, redownload, install, and not play your millenaire and nature overhaul world. Start a new world, and the mod will be installed without ruining your other world. When you want to play the old one, rename the terracraft .jar and then rename the mill/n.o. .jar to minecraft.jar again. Easy.

Hopefully you guys can get that fixed soon,I look forword to the next update :biggrin.gif:
This is a non-modloader mod, unlike Minerraria (we know about it!). We can do what we want. To each their own - ignore us if you will.

This makes making mods easier and more compatible.
We have our reasons. We think its easier coding w/o modloader. Its advice we've gotten before.. a lot of times before.
