Well... Now what?
I'm still wondering how the creepers gained the ability to climb ladders...

It just dissapeared. But I also saw that it was exactly 255 servers on at just that moment. But why 255 and not 250, as 250 is half 500.

I forgot why, but 255 is a basic maximum number in scripting. :D

255 = (2^8)-1

256 is the number or different values that can be stored in a single byte. (8 bits of information.) The highest number of values before an overflow in a single byte is generally thought to be 255, as 0 is used.

500 is probably an error code, like a 404 error code. Notchs website script for handling the server list probably wasn't designed for such a high number of servers, indeed. on wikipedia it saysthat a 500 error is a genaric server error, when no other error code fits.

500 Internal Server Error
    A generic error message, given when no more specific message is suitable.

Something just went wrong. :/

It doesn't matter what browser you use, this is a SERVER error, not a BROWSER error.

And the browser doesn't effect java very much as it is a separate process, though if you have a bad computer the amount of the resources your browser use might have a impact on gameplay.

Based on the exception, it looks like another server was added or removed while the list was being created.

Get chrome
Chrome is the suckiest browser of all time.
No, chrome is fast
Both Firefox and Chrome are great browsers and which one is better depends on what you use your browser for.

Now stop derailing this thread.

No more talk about browsers; thread tidied.
500 is a server error like the other guys said. I wonder whether it's because of the 256 number limit, or just a coincidence...
