I was a pretty active 'armchair treasusre hunter' a few years back and I've never seen an adventure/puzzle map like this. It was very enjoyable, but might be a little frustrating for anyone that doesn't like multiple logic puzzles.
The custom texture pack was used to great effect, and the story was certainly intriguing.
I played...

Tutorial Rooms
I like placing pressure pads on colored blocks
I LOVE the idea of USING your score to get hints and decreasing it. VERY clever inverse.
Colored text on signs - glad you gave us the "key"
I absolutely love the text that pops up on blocks when you punch them (instead of cracks). I laughed!
A bunch of sticks on the beach? Suspect they will come in handy later.
Hesitant to get rid of diamonds right away (the obelisk hints). Going to scout around and then possibly go into the Forest Entrance.
Circled around the island
Peeked in the sub. (not sure i like the dark gray dotted texture)
Ok... going to jump in the volcano (after I look in the house)
Looted the chest in the lighthouse, and then I realized I probably should have waited and looked at the art/shape of the contents :/
Oh wow (in the house) check out the island map - that's nice.
And the books are clearly a puzzle.
What kind of map is this? It's a THINKING map!! Uh oh!
More chests with art in them. Better put my game face on!
Want to make sure I understand some of these hints. Hint 1 costs 1 diamond, Hint 2 costs 2, Hint 3 costs 3? That looks right.
And the basement of the house is the place where reward doors will open (or something).
I don't remember seeing the diamond (top of the map) off in the water. Going there, then to that volcano.
Ok - that diamond is just the sub. Off to the volcano!
Love this room with the big screen. Is it black because of lighting bug, or is the texture pack just black?
Lots of doors here - looks like I chose a good first room.
Not sure if this 'power' lever did anything? Can't get back up yet to check the house.
DOn't hear any noteblocks when I hit these levers - might be a nice touch to add a confirmation tone of some kind.
Are these computers at the end of the 'subject file' aisles? Don't see anything happening with the buttons.
Hmm... leather armor, on peaceful? No texture on the armor.
Nice airlock.
Self-destruction chamber looks interesting.
NOte 1. Oh! I forgot there were note files.
Ok - I'm supposed to find pressure plates and put them on these audiolog spots. I'm probably just being picky, but the black center makes me think there's a pressure plate already there. Possibly make the texture a lighter color or gray.
Ok - into the mansion basement doors now
There are 10 symbols above doors, but only 5 map locations... ok - I see signs in each door that appear to be paired. So the door with the MATCHING symbol is true (or false).
Ok - so the lighthouse symbol gives me the correct order; Monument, Obelisks, Mansion, Volcano. But it doesn't mention the sub or forest... I guess I'm doing the monument first.
Not sure what I should do with all of the chests. I should probably take screenshots, but I'm going to not for now...
(just realized I have no food bar. But I'm on peaceful so I hope that's fine)
Hmm... I don't see any way into the monument. Is it the shape that means something? Not wiling to give up my diamonds yet. MAYBE I was wrong. Maybe the matching symbol is false. I've already done the volcano (right?) so I should check out the monuments.
Randomly pushing buttons, a stair appears.
Oh wow. Chess puzzle. I am elated. (I hope I don't screw this up!!!) I'm guessing I have to press the button of the square I'm moving FROM, then TO. So this is basically a 6-digit lock. Clever clever clever. One problem - I'm not sure which way my pawn can move. Going to assume my King is in check and I first need to kill the pawn... also, I'm going to assume the bottom of the chess board is my row. If I'm assuming upside or sideways this will be messed up
Oh wait, I must be wrong because the bottom-left square is black. So I'm going to assume the board is "slid" up onto the wall (if that makes sense) so the top-middle is where my white king is. Here goes...
Wait... what is this gray block on B2...?
Oh I already screwed this up. That wasn't a king. That was my rook!
Ok... I'm obviously not that good at chess. GOing for hint 1. Ow. That feels like a wasted diamond.
Hint #2 was better. Requires still more brainpower than I have. Going for hint 3
Hint #3 was obviously good. But this is going to take longer than I want, to figure out 'outside' of the game.
Hmm. I think I am solving this wrong. When I push the button described in hint 3, the door isn't opening. So even if I'm doing this right, it's not confirming.
Reset the map (after talking to yikers on forum) and everything works fine.
I'm going to chalk that one up to my mess up somehow.
But I am a little disappointed that you have to click on 3 separate boards. So it's really just 3 2-button combo locks. Was hoping there was just one chess board to click on 6 times
"B" is for the levers back in the mansion?
BRILLIANT use of the minecarts in the nether for quick transport back to main room!
I was expecting the monument to be open, but I guess not.
Opposite of monument = S/NE.... but it's not the opposite this time. Maybe I've confused myself, but I see two letters if I look from NW/SW.
Now the question is... do I use them now? Should I have put B first?
I wish there was music if I entered it right. And I HOPE it isn't broken if I enter it wrong.
Did I do it right? I don't see anything happening. I guess I'm going to use a diamond on the levers hint
Oh - so only the B should be entered? I'm leaving BZJ.
Ahah! I went back out to the monument and it's now open. Ok.
Next to "The Infinity Hint #1" , there's a typo in the sign "Insert Diamondw". And earlier I think I saw one that only said "Insert Diamon", possibly in the chess room.
I right-clicked the cart, thinking maybe it was insane to do so. It was. I just died. :/
Got back. Went through portal. Ah... I see what you're going to try and do. But the typo gives it away I think... wait... this other sign DOESN'T have typos. You did this on purpose?
Wait - I didn't see buttons in the previous rooms. Going back to check. Hmm... this is a cool/weird puzzle.
Ok. Hint 3 and 4 signs. (not taking hints yet tho)
oh! Is this a detector rail? Ahah! I know what to do.
N, Audiolog 102
Now where do I go...?
Lighthouse?
going to use a hint I think. :/
Ah! I get it!
Wait a sec.... wasn't this also the code to the obelisks?
Hmm... I think I know the answer, but I put in "A FISH" and it didn't open. Took me a few minutes to get it to open.
That puzzle was nowhere near as cool as the Chess.
T, 1
Ok - now I guess I can go anywhere? Only things left are forest and sub. GOing to sub.
Sub was cool (and by the way, when I thought I should choose the opposite symbols, I was clearly wrong).
I notice 3 musical buttons down in the cave... do I have to play a song? This will be hard while holding breath!
Went back up and hit blue squares. It's possible to get the door to flutter open with only 3 buttons, but you can't get thru fast enough.
Going back into water to find all 4.
E,153.
I guess I forgot to place the other pressure pad on an audio log.
Ok - so far on the big letter wall I have: B Z J N T E
now on to the forest (never did figure out what was with the bookshelves or chest art yet)
liars: 2 2 2 1 ? 2 1 3
really enjoyed the forest puzzle
The lights. I accidentally solved it while experimenting with the buttons from left to right :/
H, 74
All the audiologs are played... what happened?
Oh, I'd better go put the H in!
Flint and steeel...?
Is this for the black cube in the 'self destruct' room? Better make a map backup first!
Hmmm... apparently not flammable.
Do I burn the map in the mansion?
Aha! (this has good parallels to my Superheroes map
Note 8? I totally forgot there were notes. Was I supposed to ever read 2 thru 7?
Hmm... I read the notes and see that there is a typo in note 7's id number.
I have a feeling these were supposed to be behind the audiologs, but when the glass block shifts up the audiolog number doesn't break/fall so you can't see the signs.
Supervisor eye scanner was great. Tense moment.
Minecart got randomly stuck. I don't know why.
Paradise Island (?) is surrounded by ice...
Am I supposed to go down? Scouting around the rim of the island I see a bedrock wall in the distance...
Ok - going to go down into the watery crater
button and boat
I like the story twist, by the way. and the end.
Wonder what the password is for the secret epilogue... but not going to go back and find out. Probably had something to do with those books in the library.
I guess I'm bummed that the "subject files" room never had a purpose. Ah well.

Opening Thoughts
I'm going to come out with a completly honest statement here, but the entire puzzle genre of minecraft maps has pretty much stagnated. Whenever I see the words puzzle map I immediatly being to wonder when the jumping section and the maze are going to show up, because aside from those and a few other fun puzzles there is much variety these days. But I know puzzle makers can do better than this, that they want more than simple parkour and mazes... that is why every single puzzle creator needs to play this map, just to see how some intriguing and logical puzzles can be done.
Visual:
Spectaclar, every different location had a new and interesting feel to it that wors really well with the puzzle it is surrounding. This map aslo has the old hub based system based on an island, but despite the small size of the island, every puzzle section manages to have a unique look which makes the island feel bigger than it is.
[9.5/10]
Challenge:
This map is ungoddly hard, and you will probably need hints and helps for each puzzle... which the map provides. Make no mistake this map is difficult, but the reason I give it such a high score is because the hints allow the puzzle to reward the geniuses among you whilst not making it impossible for the rest of us to play.
[4.5/5]
Length:
I am not going to write long on this section and just say this, the map took me an hour and a half and I never ever ever got bored.
[4.5/5]
Story:
The story for this map is awesome, dealing with cloning, the end of the world and the coruption of power... For those of you who played "The Force Unleashed 2" and got unbelievably annnoyed by the infuriating plot, well then right here is how you do a plot like that right. The notes are also done to great effect here, the creator avoids forcing us to read one every single time we run home, they give us the option and weave their existance as a great idea of the collective narrative.
[9.5/10]
Variety Puzzle:
Amazing, I have ever see a map with so many original ideas and brilliant redstone executions. From a logic liar puzzle, to a madness simulator and even a maths puzzle. It is truely the most original and different map that I have played since I started doing these reviews, and I am not saying that other puzzle maps aren't any good, more that this map is so briliantly original that is supersceends it's own genre. If anything this is more of a brain teaser map, requiring you to be good at solving puzzles and brain ticklers than pressing the jump button.
[9.75/10]
Things that need Improvement:
- The sub has two possible solutions with the other one not working.
Things that need No-Improvement:
- EVERYTHING ELSE!!
Final Thoughts:
This map is my favourite map that I have played whilst doing these reviews, it is original, good looking, well played, har without impossibility and above all else a ton of fun! I sencirely hope that this map inspires more brain teaser style maps because this is an interestingly new genre that really should take off.

I really enjoyed the map. I really did when I didn?t want to punch through the wall in frustration. In fact, I even enjoyed the frustration, though I would never have admitted that back then. Maybe not everyone will found the map as challenging as I did, but one thing is sure: in Enigma Island you need to put your brains to some serious work. For Myst fans the map is a must try.
The map itself is well designed, compact and working. The gameplay is as intense as a game/map like this can achieve and the puzzles are really clever and diverse, requiring for instance knowledge of mathematics, human relations and some famous board games. Redstone is used with skill in the making of this map, providing interesting aesthetical and gameplay elements. The architecture of the map is pleasant to the eye and the overall structure of the map well designed and executed.
While Enigma Island truly is a great map, it has some flaws that will lower the score. Firstly the notes were named a bit misleadingly, it would have been easier for the player to just name them straight up as ?Audiolog 74? etc, since at least I was a little confused at first over what should I read and why haven?t I been told to read any notes yet, but the three first ones. Then there were some problems with the map being a bit outdated. Also some minor grammatical errors occurred, but I?ve mostly forgiven them for the fact that the map had quite a lot of textual context in it.
The map was really well done and the maker had clearly invested a lot of time and love into the making of the map, and regardless of the minor flaws the map was fun, challenging and a memorable experience. Even if you aren?t much of a Myst fan and are a bit scared for the challenge, I must warmly recommend you to try the map. You will be surprised!
Bugs/Tips
- The claim to sail to the sunset is false now, because the sun sets in a different direction, you actually have to sail to south.
- The cart to the Paradise Island is broken.
Grammar Nazi corner:
- Last room in the introduction, the sign on the left says decoratin when it should say decoration.
- Note 2: ?It?s got nohting but a single folder on the dektop.? Should probably be nothing and desktop.
- After every location, in the big letter room the sign says compac disc, which should be compact disc.
- The first room of infinity: The signs are different than in the rest, the lines are arranged differently and same, and and expecting are misspelled.
- Note 5: ?I hoped it were a nightmare? should be was.
- Note 6: ?But they?re to stupid? should be too.
- Note 7: ?Audiolog 153, Mai 31. 2063.? Should be May, ?However it is to late now? should be too.

EDIT: Re-downloaded the map and played up to the point I'd been at, then tried again. Made sure to enter the move correctly this time, and putting in the buttons just doesn't work. I'm continuing on with the map, but breaking the door to this clearly broken puzzle. I'm sorry. The rest of the map is great, but that one part has too complicated of wiring or something.
Edit 2; Final Thoughts
Ending score was 53, not counting minor cheating to get around broken puzzles (all solutions figured legitimately, but input wouldn't work for one) and to rush through a second time so I could see the other ending too.
The good ending was as heartwarming as the discovery of what had become of Paradise Island was chilling...pun accidental. Story elements were great, but use of more passwords could prevent spoilers. At one point I was unsure if I needed to wait to read them or not, making them all PW would make this impossible to mess up.
Now, my thoughts on the puzzles;
Favourite: The Forest...I just love those kind of logic puzzle.
Clever: Tie between Monument and Lighthouse, which both used perspective in clever ways to find their answers.
Hon. Mention: The Infinity...this one intrigued me the most, I wasn't quite sure how you did it, and while simple it was still tricky to figure out. However, it seemed like it needed correct timing, and it's not fun knowing the solution and not being able to do it.
Boring: Tie between the Obelisks and Submarine...these were both straightforward combination locks that you are pretty much handed the solution. The sub was slightly better, as it needed a little thought.
Too easy: The lights...It's "lights on" rather than "lights out", but I was able to solve this in two button presses.
Hated: Chess puzzle...it's a good idea, but it was broken, and even with it working, this one is a bit of a "niche" puzzle/diamond sink.
Oh shi-: The Volcano...in a good way. At first, I didn't pick up on this one, even though the hints were staring me right in the face. It was only on my second time up that I noticed the "jump here" mark. Kudos on that one.
Why?!: The map...when I set it on fire, it took a good deal of the library with it. Adjusting it to contain the damage would be nice.
Most Devious: The Cave...low notes indeed! I'll confess, I alternated between "Oh, that is clever!" and "Ack, my phobia of drowning!" on that one.
If I left any out, I apologize. It was sort of a speed run for me.
Oh, and...yes, I did go through the whole thing in roughly six hours, counting breaks and technical difficulties. Is that good?
My Rating: 26.5/30
Creativity: 10/10 ( In the overall, this map is brilliant. The story has twists and turns to keep you guessing until the very end. )
Puzzles: 9.5/10 ( Hard for me to settle on this rating. The variety and cleverness of the puzzles on the whole is great, but there are a few design choices that could have been done better. Overall, it's excellent, and takes wits over twitch-finger skills. Challenging, but totally doable on your own. However, it's the hint system that pushes it over the top, letting players put it on a "lower difficulty" for less points, if they choose. While I never used this, it's a wonderful feature. )
Visuals: 7/10 ( Locations and building were done beautifully. Most of it looks great, and the texture pack compliments the majority well. There were just a few times where things could have looked much better. I was disappointed by the lack of custom armour or item graphics, and just a few times the blocks didn't look quite right, such as the "veins of runes" on Paradise Island. With just a little touching up, though, this one could easily be a ten out of ten. )
Walkthrough
This is just a really short, basic walkthrough. If your using this, please tell me if you would rather want a longer one, explaining how to solve this yourself, or if this quick one just saying the solutions is better. Thank you for the support.
Note: Only use this walkthrough, if you unlocked all the hints for the respective puzzle ingame. And still are not close to solving it.
The Mansion #1
Go to the blue cross on the map, It's a Volcano. Jump in it and activate the Power switch, this will open all the doors in the Mansion and on the Island. You can Exit this secret lair through the Sleeping room. Also take a look in the other rooms, they are important for the story.
Back in the Mansion, the signs behind the doors will give you hints in how to solve the puzzle lying under the repective symbol on the map.
The Pyramid
The Right Combination is: Obsidian, Diamond, Lapis Lazuli, Gold
The Chessgame
The right moves are:
1. h6 - c1
2. d8 - d2
2. d2 - d4
The Lighthouse
The right combination is:
far right, far left, middle left, middle right
The basement
The Solution is: F-I-S-H
The forest
The right path leads underneath the following signs in this order:
B-A-A-B-A-B-C-C
The lights
Seriously, you can't solve this one?!
Well, every button changes 2 lights. In fact, you only need to press far left and far right from the beginning.
the Monument
You'll notice the Monument consists of several figures. Each with a Cobblestone cross as a beginning and a line of two cobblestones sticking out of it either up- or downwards.
If you look form the right angle (from the Submarine) you will get a pattern of up and downs. Turn the Levers in the small hut to match this pattern.
The Infinity
Just go through all the portals. In the last Hallway, press the button which pushes the Minecart and quickly press the remaining button. If done correctly, the door will open.
FUNFACT: If you pick up the Redstone dust and relay it, so the button opens the door directly in any of hte other rooms, you'll get locked, and It'll cost you a diamond.
The Submarine
The Solution is: 1350 + 1500 + 2300 + 2650 /2
The cave
Press the buttons in front of the door in following order:
- Second highest note
- Lowest note
- Highest note
- Second lowest note
The Mansion #2
Switch all the letters you found behind every puzzle-section.
Then use the flint and steel to burn the Pixel-Art-Wool-Map.
Go through the Passage way behind.
The Ending
Enter Carters ID.Number (14682)
Enjoy the ride, jump down into Paradise Island
go into the cave behind the Waterfall. Read the last note and Make your decision.
You'll have to find the Secret Epilogue yourself. But the Audiolog you found last gives you a hint..
