That won't be too difficult, I'll implement it in the next update.
I think I might make portals to different save files out of wool, just different colors for each.
Maybe two or three for each portal so you can make really weird ones.
Not really, I am more focused on making all the realms more accessible.
I know that diamonds are near impossible to find in the sky realm, and they're at the bottom,
so I might modify those, but I think I'll probably just make two other realms to go to,
probably an underground one with minerals scattered throughout every level, just some more common.
The other, I'm not really sure about but probably gonna try and find a way to make a lunar landscape,
might add in new blocks then and i'll add in some diamond equivalent or better ores in the sky.
But I have to figure out what the heck is going on with the save portal code....
It's getting aggravating, but I think I'll be able to finish it within a week.
Probably sooner, if my internet doesn't decide to be evil again, I'll have it up as soon as I finish.
EDIT:
There are trees in the sky realm, but they're not so common, probably because of the height.
I think I can edit that and maybe add in some other creatures, besides the annoying chickens.
I already found that there are trees, just as you said, are few trees are also common.
if you want to change the sky realm, I suggest that you forget to add minerals such as diamonds or gold, instead you can create new minerals, even if you use this update, or better yet, you can create a configuration file in which the user can choose up to 3 types of ore to appear in the sky realm (if you want mods like nethercraft test or any other mod that has ore blocks)

Now that the save portals are finally done, (YES!!!)
I'll mess around with the sky realm.
I modified it so that trees are common, and now there is sand as well.
I like the idea of ores, but the sky realm is generated just like any other realm.
diamonds beneath level 20, its just there isn't anywhere to put them....
I like the idea to set it so that only three ores are present, and I can make them rarer than normal.
I'll probably modify it so that they are equally probably throughout the entire realm, instead of only at the bottom.
i uninstalled the mod because everytime i would come out of the nether, the sky would be red :sad.gif: i really love the concept! ohh and my computer had a heart attack and i had to get a new one.. so the picture and video got completly erased.. im really really sorryy! im working on them right now lol
made a portal to the flat lands.
went in, came back out.
disabled the portal (broke part of it).
changed the id for that portal to 18 (was 17).
then changed the id for the crust to 17.
when i buttered the portal.
crash. SAVING CHUNKS! BZZRRTTT.
that was also in the middle of making a video for the mod :/ lol
Shockapi lets you add a new dimension without editing base classes. (Aether used it) Im sure it isn't THAT hard to learn how to use it
shockahpi changes alot of base classes on its own. so essentially you are doing the same thing either way. The aether isnt compatible with IC, and i love IC. so dont use shockahpi. please :biggrin.gif:
Say i play my industrial-craft world, then save and exit.
I change the jar
then i go and play my aether world, and ditto.
Then i go into ANOTHER world, and accidently go into one of the modded worlds, therfore losing all my stuff and ragequiting minecraft for 5 mins. (No, this is completely hypothetical.
Also, for another dimension idea:
Two levels, a suface world, floting above a low rugged plain stone world:
------
Random floating islands in the sky - lvls 64 - 100
Ground------------------lvl 0-32
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Playing since Beta 1.3_01. Yeah. I like BTW. Or used to. Still do. Stuff Technic. (Back in the day...)

when i create a mossy cobblestone portal minecraft crash
same problem all the other portals work fine but the mossy one does not work:(
but another question how do i craft the butter knife i didn't see you mention that or do i have too cheat too get or what?
I worked on the SMP Server and it actually was rather easy,
only problem is loading 25 worlds kinda takes up RAM...
I'll upload it in a few hours after I make it a bit more friendly.

I actually didn't want to use it because it wasn't compatible with a lot of mods, and I didn't want to have to work around it.
I could implement it, but I'd rather keep it as flexible as possible, so if a new and fancy mod comes out,
I can make it compatible without having to completely rewrite it.

hopefully that helps.

I added in how to make the butter knife in the first post.
none only this one all the other portals work fine and i installed it correctly
Also suffered this problem in the exact same circumstances. I have modLoader, modLoader MP (for safety reasons), GUIAPI, and TMI.
Here is the crash report
java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: -1

If I remember my java correctly that means that an operation linking to your array is returning with an impossible or incorrect value.
edit: also the smooth cobble portal is not taking me to the ore place. I moved it a ways away from the other portal to make sure it was not the close-proximity portal problem thing but alas it still did not work
edit2: Can you write a better description of how to use the save portals? I am quite baffled by how you use them or what they do really. Initially I thought that you used them to travel between worlds that you have, but now I am not sure.

Thank you for the crash report, I would have never found it otherwise.
I forgot to check a variable before I used it.
I'll update it and add in the SMP v0.1, will have to edit it so that they're compatible, but shouldn't take long.
The save portals can take you to worlds you have created, and create worlds themselves.
Example:
In the gui there will be the first five worlds: "Nether","Surface","Sky","Flat Land","Underground"
Then there will be the five save worlds: "Save 1","Save 2","Save 3","Save 4","Save 5"
Each world has the colors and the blockid settings,
and the save worlds also have a text box for their name.
When you save a world, it is saved in your "saves" directory as either the world name,
or the world name plus some number of "-"s.
I.E.
If you have three worlds named "New World",
there will be three folders in the "saves" directory named,
"New World","New World-","New World--"
In the text box you put the name of the folder where the world is saved,
(This can also be found beneath the world name in the world select gui.)
If you put in a name of a world that hasn't been created,
it will be created when you use its portal.
EX:
Save Portal 1:
"New World"
Save Portal 2:
"Random"
Save Portal 3:
"Save 3"
Save Portal 4:
"Save 4"
Save Portal 5:
"Save 5"
If you start the world, "New World", and enter the second save portal you will be taken to "Random",
if it exists or a new world that will be saved as "Random".
I hope that helps, if not I'll make a video.
If it still doesn't help, I'll ask how you would do it and code it that way.
The Smooth Cobble actually takes you to the Surface,
If you are already there it does nothing.
The Mossy Cobble takes you to the Crust, or the Underground.
I just finished the SMP and SSP.
Found the red sky error, fixed it.
Moss stone error fixed as well.
Made SMP a bit friendly, you can now load five or less worlds.
Still have to load all dimensions.

I thought that I had meant mossy cobblestone instead of smooth cobblestone, but I really did mean smooth.
General query about the SMP save portals though. Do you just save the multiple worlds on the same server? I mean I cant see how the current code could do something other than that. How does the server handle that?

The server actually was made to run concurrent worlds.
The nether and surface at the same time,
I just... expanded it.
It loads up to five saved worlds, with five dimensions each.
It actually works rather well, besides the RAM sink.
For a server to handle users in both the nether and surface, it has to keep both worlds running at once.
This is rather easy to expand, just modifying array sizes and loading each world correctly.
Then the server just maintains each world like it would normally.
But maintaining 25 concurrent worlds is a bit intensive, requiring more RAM and CPU usage than normal.
Just in case you were wondering, there is a Modloader for SMP, ModloaderMP by SDK. But right now flan is managing it.
EDIT: Damn link doesnt work, just google 'ModloaderMP unofficail flan'.
