Swiss Rustic HD v0.994 - 128x (recommended)
Swiss Rustic v0.991 - 64x (has some 128x textures, not updated to 1.2.4)
Swiss Rustic v0.991 - 32x (missing some textures, not updated to 1.2.4)


Features: Smooth tiling, plenty of detail, balanced contrast for pleasant viewing at short or far distances, similar to default textures, Unique paintings with multiple purposes, alternate woods for variety when building, constant changes.

shit that inspired me: Living in Switzerland, Dark Age of Camelot, Ovo's Rustic textures, Misa's Realistic textures, noodlepants.

Themes that it possibly fits: Medieval,Rustic,realistic,smooth

Its called Swiss Rustic because of how and where the textures were made. other than a few Swiss crosses thrown in here and there, It doesn't really follow a Swiss theme.

Most Textures are about 50% Photograph and 50% Drawn.
The Photos were taken by my brother and i while exploring Switzerland.
I cant draw, so i use a PS3 controller and math.

I've been working on this texture pack for around 7 months,
My brother (Dirty_Christ) helped me get shit started and drew some items.

I'm not Swiss, i just enjoy living there.



Note on usage and distribution of this pack: Our work will always be open to the public. Permission is given to anyone and their mother to use our pack, remix our pack, and do whatever makes your little hearts sing with our pack. The only thing you may NOT do is use adfly or any profit gaining methods with our textures. All we ask in return is proper credit given. Show us what you can do with our work and we'll award you cookies!

Additional note: The custom water animations and wheat do not apply to our rules. you DO NOT have permission to redistribute them or use them for anything besides personal use. they are edited versions of other artist's textures in which we asked permission to use. if you wish to use them then you must contact JohnSmith and Misa for the water and Ovo for the wheat.

I have played around with this a bit, and I must say, it is a gorgeous texture pack. I really enjoy the rustic/dark, feel it brings to Minecraft. Can't wait to see how this pack progresses.

i'ts inspired by ovo's texture pack. i used his for a while before making my own, and yes this is my work. well actually my brother's too. i was thinking of posting some of the pictures we took and used for the textures, i thought that might be kinda cool.

Meh, I was excited when i saw the topic, now im pretty disappointed

The wood doesnt look like its typical for switzerland.
Typical swiss wood would be the kind of wood used when building chalets (google it), dark, looong planks. So really, nothing like what your wood looks like.

the cobble also doesnt look swiss at all.
try something like this

I'm the OP's brother, the one who takes the photos that get pixelated and the artist who works on the tools.
Sometimes you have to sacrifice things looking real to make things look better in-game. Long planks would have been better if we wanted it to look real, but to do that you'd have to take away the dark, defining lines that surround the entire wood block. This would actually make it look cheap and bad against pretty much anything that isn't wood.
Also, there will be multiple versions of cobblestone. Two, most likely. One will be more organic (the one in the screenshots) and the other will be more blocky (like you suggested). We've got plenty of digital photographs in our stick that I'm currently still expanding using my DSLR. We live here in Switzerland after-all, so editing this texture pack and adding new things frequently will be simple and quick.
I suggest turning your disappointment into excitement if that is all you were upset about.
If you know much about the Swiss world and what type of things are popular here, get hyped for our exterior window shutter paintings that will be included in our completed pack.

I guess I didnt really think about what I suggested (and it also seems like I was demanding, didnt mean to sound like an asshat), now that I think about it, there is a big variety of cobblestone-like stuff here.
Though I really never saw that kind you are using in this pack. If you have a real-life picture of it, that would be nice (not because I dont believe you, but because im curious.).
Just one more thing, though: when I think about natural stone and switzerland, I can really only think of light stone, like in lucerne (the lion in the stone, gletschergarten) and some gravel pits where I live.
The pack is very dark already, and perhaps lighter stone could be a nice addition.
i also wanted to say that the overall quality of the pack is really great, the textures are seamless. It really just doesnt look all that swiss yet!

We're currently staying in Fribourg with our parents for the summer (college summer). Pardon my French (see what I did there?) but it's the fuckin' raddest little town ever. We live next to this bell tower that stands tall, partially eclipsing some pre-Alps in the background. The view from our balcony is perfect. I sure as hell love Switzerland.
Oh, and you're actually very right about the cobblestone bein' a bit dark. The reason it's darker is purely an aesthetic choice. We just thought it looked nicer against the wood/grass. Once the whole pack is done with the alternative cobblestones and whatnot, I don't see why we couldn't do requests like lightening up the cobblestone or things like that. After-all, we aim to be pretty much the opposite of the far too many stubborn texture pack artists who don't like to share their work (and sue and shit). Everything me and my brother create is open to the public to do with what they please. Suggestions, additions, constructive criticism, and shit alike is more than welcome.
Oh, and we'll be posting every original picture with the corresponding minecraft texture when we're farther along and have things more finalized.

you live pretty close to us. that is neat. also, about the halberds. its a great idea but the items have to fit in those little squares and it would look pretty derpy, like a mini keychain halberd or something. still we might try it.

I'll try a halberd for the gold axe and see what happens. I'm guessing the blade part will end up being really tiny to give it the illusion of being long enough to even be close to a halberd. I kinda like the scepter for the gold sword slot cuz it's a good addition to (what will be) the golden royal armor.
Then again, all the demon pig things in the nether will wield scepters in that case... Hell, guess I might replace the scepter after all.

Zurich Vacation update - after some traveling to some of the more dense city areas and taking several more pictures, i decided to work on some cobble and wood alternates a little early. also, I've added netherrack, soulsand, fixed the tiling of the dirt (there was a light squiggly line that was driving me insane)fixed the tiling of the sand and added a bit of depth to it, and added tall grass (notch's wildgrass. I'm not sure what its actually called) here's a few pictures.

also, the alternates for the textures will work like this: a classic version (more similar to the original Minecraft colors) and a swiss version (closer to swiss colors)
and i will be using a customizer to make it easy to pick and choose.

The second set of pictures is the real Swiss version (lighter cobble and darker wood) and is too early of a work-in-progress to even post a link to. The pictures are up just for a preview and are open to any thoughts/suggestions people may have and all that jazz.
