Hi all!
I´m not used to post in the forums, but read everything you do, and found amazing stuff here.
But now I have a little project and got stuck, due to my lack of knowledge in redstones.
So i´m posting it here, and anyone can help, or even improve the idea.
The idea is to make a scalator... A block of sand put in the lowest piston (where the yellow arrow start)is lifted one level, then the sticky piston grabs it and pull. After that the next piston lifts again the block, and the other sitcky pushes again, and so on... At the end of the scalator another piston pushes the block out of the system, since its sand, it will drop to the bottom, to be pushed back to the inicial position. And the cycle restarts. If this is possible, you step in a piece of sand and are transported to any high, smoothly and no need for buttons. I should work automatically, in my opinion.
The problems:
I really don´t know the use of redstone to manage the timing between pistons for it to work.
As you see in the picture, at the last level, theres no way to put a piston to make the sand go up.
Do you think this is possible to make? Can help?
Thinking of any way to improve it?
The videos below were created by jamesbwatt and posted with his permission, they show an 100% glitch free piston elevator capable of reaching speeds faster or as fast as that of the now broken boat elevators. It works as follows quoted from the video description:

A video demonstrating floor selection:
Jamesbwatt will keep making videos about this so if you have a Youtube account subscribe to his channel, otherwise keep an eye on this topic as I will be posting all his elevator related videos here as they are released.
That is an elevator, not an escalator, Electromite.
Personally the concept of this intrigues me, but I'm not fluent enough in redstone to help out. Hopefully somebody is able to help, something like this would be neat
I tried something similar with the piston mod before the update. What I was doing was putting the pushing pistons in the "roof" of the escalator. That may be a better way to do it, since you can have a pushing piston at every level. The only problem I was running into with the mod was timing it. May be a little easier with the piston update and update to the repeaters.
one piston row (no sticky ones) diagonal facing upward, delay between each 4 torch. Another row 2 blocks above, facing horizontal, also 4 dealy per pistion, but 2 delay of the bottom layer.
Edit: oh, you meant blocks+items... then not 2 blocks above, just 1. What you want is an conveyor belt, look after that on youtube.
I'll try it out :smile.gif:
and put screenshots up if i get it to work
Tried it and made it :smile.gif:
Took me about 1h
It can be improved, but it works.
unfortunately it can't move you up or any Items.
And a loop doesn't work too, don't know why.
I made a Video, but it would take to long to upload it now, i have to go to bed
(I'm 15 so...)
But here is a screenshot and the world file to download: ScalatorWorld
Wow, Widy! Very nice!
I knew that for a redstone enthusiast it wouldn´t be difficult.
Unfortunately I didn´t know that we can´t be pushed when standing on the block (like RT-073 said).
After all, the purpose of this project was to make an functional scalator.
In a scalator, there´s always an step for you to be on.
So, if we put more blocks of sand in each instance and on the line at the bottom, will it still work?
Let´s think that in the shopping center the scalator is always on, so the cycle repeats itself...
As you see, this will not de a conveyor belt, Atanarr.
I´m thinking of another way to do it.
In any case, thanks all for feedbacks! If any of you find any solution, please let us know!

Hi me again;
I tried some things out, but unfortunately there is no way to do this, if you would do this each piston has to be powered in the exact time for the instance to move.
and the double piston needs to much time to retract.
So it's almost impossible.
I tried another way where a block in front of a sticky piston pushes you away.
That worked once, but if you try this the 2 step, it blocks the first one so you can't go up anymore.
but i can try to make like a Item scalator that might work :smile.gif:

Tried it made it xD
So this works like i thought.
It moves any item up (except blocks, pistons can't move)
And sand and gravel falls down at the end.
It moves also any dropped item up.
And any wire is hidden.
I could make it higher but that would use much much more wiring
(muuuuuch)
And Btw the Video of the first Scalator if you don't want to download the world:

I lol'd, We need moving blocks like an escalator?
