Cody Sumter and Jason Boggess of the MIT Media Lab have something special on offer - 3D print-outs of Minecraft scenes and objects. Using a custom Python script, they are able to model a specific zone of blocks within a defined range, and bring them into the real world via 3D printing. How does it work? You have to see it for yourself!

This is amazing. If this could be UI'd using .schematic files this would be great for 3D models because building in Minecraft or even MCedit is loads easier than 3D modeling applications!

I've always known how to export minecraft worlds into my 3d modelling program, and I've been printing objects for almost a year now; I can't believe I never thought to print out any of my minecraft creations! Then again, while many things I make are awesome, most of it wouldn't look very good as a print. I'll have to change that!
