STORY------
It has been many years since the rebel alliance has defeated the empire, and the galaxy is safe. After the destruction of the evil empire, one of the emperor's Star Destroyers crash landed on a planet. Rumors have it that a group of 5 Jedi were captured aboard the Star Destroyer and an ancient Jedi relic that they were safeguarding was confiscated. Your job is to investigate the incident, try to find out what happened to the Jedi, and locate the ancient relic. You land your X-Wing about a mile and a half from the crater where the Star Destroyer crash landed in a small abandoned village and set up camp. Erosion of the crater has gradually left only the control tower visible from above ground. Can you discover why the star destroyer crash landed, what happened to the 5 Jedi, and where the relic is?
RULES------
You are only allowed to break glass, wood, ice, snow, leaves, and torches
Play on peaceful mode
Many doors are locked, do not break them or use torches to open them
You are allowed to craft, etc. But do not use items to break prohibited blocks

Enjoy! Post your comments about this game, questions, suggestions, etc. below! Post what you have discovered because it is likely that your cohorts have not found everything since there are many snippets and secrets about the story that are difficult to discover.
Also I enjoy watching playthrough videos and watching people try to figure out my level. Post a video if you have one!
Dude, this looks epic. I'm working on building a star destroyer on my personal server, but it's slow going. Doing it all legit. . . Mostly. :tongue.gif: Spawned myself diamonds for tools. :biggrin.gif:

I was going to build the whole thing but the Minecraft limits would have to be increased by at least 5x
I was going to build the whole thing but the Minecraft limits would have to be increased by at least 5x
That was a fantastic way to deal with that height limit problem Instead of throwing it away you turned it into something that was still fun! :smile.gif:
However; if you are still itching to complete a full scale version you may be able to by doing the following:
[EDIT] I have created a more detailed version of this Instructional [HERE].
1) Back up all worlds + entire ".minecraft" folder.
2) Use MCNostalgia to roll back your version of Minecraft to beta 1.2_02, or if you have that version backed up then put it back into your .minecraft folder.
4) Figure out how to transfer your work into a ymod world or turn your current map into one etc.
It's my understanding that ymod gives a default 512 height limit but I think it also allows you to set it higher if you wish (1024), or lower (256). Unfortunately beta 1.2_02 was the last version it ran on, though there are some people thinking about possibly trying to update it at some point.
Please let me know if that works out! :smile.gif:
Also; Here is a link to another project that is still actively developing content on a high ymod map. You can even download it. It's Glorious!! :biggrin.gif:
I imagine that person might be able to help you with any problems you might have in getting going with that.
I think I'd rather wait until more development happens with height restriction elimination... I want my level to be accessible to everyone not just people with it installed (that's a really small target audience) but anyone wanting to use what I have to make a full star destroyer may do so. I think it would be one of the biggest minecraft projects to date, much bigger than the star trek enterprise that seemed to gain alot of attention before.

I can understand that. In the mean-time I have fleshed out a more comprehensive version of my above post, one that also describes how to develop with ymod while also using the current version of Minecraft. I hope that you will at least consider it, and thank you for the work you have done so far.
When you reach the vault with the nether portal in it, is THAT the Jedi relic, or is it somewhere in the nether? because I looked for a long time and couldn't find anything. Just wanna ask before I continue this wild goose chase.
It uses 3D Chunks (16x16x16) and allows a map height of 4096 blocks! It's only SSP for the moment but Robinton is planning to add SMP Multi-player support too. It can generate custom height aware terrain and even replaces the current bedrock with normal stone so that you can dig deeper.
Just make sure to back up your maps and ".minecraft" folder first. :wink.gif:
I am checking with the maker of MCEdit & World Edit to see about them supporting these maps.
btw: I have also added this info and more to my Higher Map thread/tutorial:
I made it to the Air Craft room then i got stuck :sad.gif:
Try looking for ladders in the experimental aircraft facility. If you are on the lower level, you must go back to the surface and find the entrance from the outside There will be a door from the outside on the base of the control tower that says "experimental aircraft facility" and it will take you to the second level of the facility
