With 1.7 out slimeballs have become much more valuable and desirable but this has frustrated many people. A lot of people have never even seen a slime first hand and, as such, are concerned that they wont get access to sticky pistons. With this in mind, I decided to do a comprehensive slime farm tutorial including the basics of slime spawning. Take a look and let me know what you think =)

Haha yeah, it's not exactly a short tutorial... but it's hard to make a tutorial that's both comprehensive and short =p I've divided it up into sections so that people will be able to skip ahead if they want to (or go back if they need to)

My pleasure :) I've never used a mod so I know how all the legit minecrafters feel and can sympathise with the people who have never seen a slime before. I think sticky pistons are awesome, so I wanted everyone to get the chance to use them :)

Amazing, great idea. Basically, I only build stuff in Minecraft, so I don't mind using any mods whatsoever. :)

Well I might upload my world for download in one of my LP episodes, but half the fun is building the thing man. Look at it as a project and work on it in stages.

Thanks dude, much appreciated =D yep, and sent it in to be considered for a digital diamond... though I think it's a bit long (so they probably wont accept it) and I don't think I've ever seen them give a digital diamond to a tutorial.

I'm having an odd issue, both with a modified version of the farm and with following your instructions exactly (except finding slimes using a mod): when the tiny slimes reach the top, they glitch through the stone and pop out the top rather than drowning properly. I tend to get mobbed by tacklehugs from 6-7 baby slimes at once.

Did I do something wrong here? Could this have to do with my playing SMP? It's not a professional server, my finacee suggests the poor machine might be glitching due to drawing the slimes?

My guess is that it's a result of this being on SMP - SMP is extremely buggy when it comes to mob systems. Unfortunately, since I have so little experience with SMP, I have no idea how this could be fixed.

Drat. I play almost exclusively on a private SMP server with two friends, it helps when we undertake huge projects like this. I'll play around with it, if I find a solution I'll let you know.
