Works both in SSP and SMP on any server you join.
Requires ModLoader.

Hold F7 down in-game to tweak the volume.
Press F7 promptly to disable MAtmos, or to re-enable it.
You can re-bind this key in the Minecraft key options.

WARNING: There is apparently an issue with the current versions of MAtmos (Getting stuck waiting for Minecraft to load sounds). Stay tuned for more updates at the end of the thread.

The sounds are actually taken from Source Engine games. I'm not okay with that, but I can't find a full library of that kind of sounds.
If you have potential free of use replacements, I'm interested.
Therefore, I'm not making any money out of this in any form, but I am fully aware of potentially breaching EULA for doing it.

Troubleshooting and questions
I need to record a Redstone Note block video! Can I temporarily disable MAtmos?
Yes! Press F7! It will disable itself until you hit it again!

Can I change the volume of MAtmos separately from the game sounds?
Yes! Hold F7 down! Then, look up or down as the instructions tell you.

There is too much wind / At some point I couldn't hear anything
Please report what you feel about this mod. The settings can be easily tweaked by altering the database so I may be able to perform some slight tweaks from time to time.

I've edited the database to tweak some stuff. It's sometimes hard to figure out errors, like when environments are not playing as expected. What can I do?
First, MAtmos prints debug messages that tells which environments turn on/off if you go to matmos_options.cfg and change the value of "debug.logger.engine.use" to "3" (debug.logger.engine.use=3).

To see these messages, you could get a console command, for example using a batch file containing:

@echo on
java -cp minecraft.jar net.minecraft.LauncherFrame

Put that file in the same folder as Minecraft.exe. Then, download the Linux minecraft.jar (even if you're on Windows obviously!), which happens to be a launcher, which is unrelated to the one you have in the (Roaming)/minecraft/bin/ folder. Put this file in the same folder as Minecraft.exe.
Then, start the batch file. This should work! (unless java is missing in the environment variable PATH search directories)

Remember you can hold F7 down when MAtmos is disabled to reload your database files in realtime. When you press F7 in order to disable MAtmos, a dump file is created containing a data sheet. This data sheet can be loaded and visualized in MAtmos Designer by pressing the "Load default file" in the "Simulator" tab.

How can Dropbox be useful for you?

There is an incredibly useful tool I'm using to work, and it serves for other purposes! I think that if you don't know it already, you could benefit from it.
Dropbox is an online file storage and synchronization software that allows me to work on projects, and synchronize every time my project files change. And it can revert changes by keeping a 30-day old file history of every single change!

It once helped me on Minecraft when one of my worlds stopped working. Not only I can synchronize my Minecraft Worlds on an online space so that I can play on the same world on several computers when I'm moving, it also keeps backups... so my world being corrupted due to the pistons was fixed within seconds!
And it also allows you to share a folder towards multiple users, to share work, photos instantly.

If you want to play Minecraft on a Dropbox folder on Windows, put Minecraft.exe on a subfolder of the Dropbox folder, and create a batch file (text file with the extension renamed to .bat), containing:

md "%CD%\user\myname"
set "APPDATA=%CD%\user\myname"
start Minecraft

Replace myname with your nickname, without spaces preferably. The Minecraft content will be in user\myname. That's where you will mod your Minecraft. You can also create multiple batch files with other myname to make sessions on a same Windows account!
Double click on that batch file to launch Minecraft.

In case you want to run third party programs (like MCPatcher), you need another batch file.
On Windows, create a batch file containing (replace myname with your nickname, without spaces preferably):

@echo off
md "%CD%\user"
md "%CD%\user\myname"
set "APPDATA=%CD%\user\myname"
start %1

Then, drag and drop third party executable or jars that expect .minecraft to be in %APPDATA%.

There are other techniques to make Minecraft run with Dropbox, but the Batch technique is my favorite. I'm also using this technique to play several versions of Minecraft (exemple: Playing the newest Minecraft version, and playing an old and stable version of Minecraft for some other servers).

Some people asked me to put up a Donation button, so if you were looking for one it's there!

No adfly because I don't like this service (malware issues), and anyways I'd only put such service if I were only distributing the binaries without the sounds.

MAtmos does not require an Internet connection to run, but may request access to static and indiscriminate content, used to inform the user of updates, and used to auto-update the sound and database profiles. In no way MAtmos is capable of updating its algorithmic behavior via auto-updates of the sound and database profiles. MAtmos does not engage in communication with game servers your client connects with.
