DROPS USE:
"Salamander meat"
Description: ,but it says Salamander Meat when scrolled over with mouse.
Use: Mostly it is an alternative porkchop for cave explorers, so if you mining and run out of food but don't want to go back up yet, you can just find an Eyeless Salamander
"Salamander hide"
Description: It looks like cow hide but lighter.
Use: It makes armor that lasts as long as hide, but it is partially fireproof. If you go in lava, you will only take half a heart every 2 seconds with full Salamander Armor, and you won't catch on fire, but it could burn away will you in the lava.
ORES & SUCH:
"Amethyst Ore"
Description: A pink crystal like diamond that comes out as a small pink crystal.
Spawn: Slightly rarer than Redstone.
Drops: Amethyst Crystal.
Pick: Iron.
Use: Can be crafted like any other ore except for armor. It like diamond toll but has the amount of use of stone.
"Cavsyite"
Description: Blue crystals that look a bit like reeds that hang from the ceiling and give a dim glow of a 2 block radius.
Spawn: As likely as coal, but only of the roof of open caves.
Drops: Bluestone (1-5)
Pick: Iron.
Use: Like glow-stone, but also can be made into a blue torch that has twice the glow of a normal torch. Also can be placed like redstone, but will not need a torch because the signal is unlimited.
Ok post. It's a bit generic, and not well explained. While you have ores and such, they dont add much gameplay, and have been suggested in different ways before. The mobs show a little bit of creativity, but you are unable to show how they would affect gameplay, through stuff like drops (you did have drops, but they were expectable things, like meat), and a good explanation of there coloring. So while promising, this post needs a lot of improvement.
Edit: You don't explain how this makes things at all more realistic.
for the blue redstone, how about it carries current unlimited distance, but it can't power doors/boosters/trapdoors. so it can be used to make long range wires. Also, it can make inverters, which are like repeaters, but invert the current (power in, none out, no power in, power out).

All these would be cool for the nether (besides caveslyte or whatever you called it)
However I do not think they should be found in normal caves, then you could make a living more easily underground.

How's that for your bluestone dilemma.
All of this.

You should probably help him out.
Wait a moment, what is this?
Pink, eh?

Results are...
NOT pink.
