VoodooFrog's Calendar Mod

Finally a calendar in Minecraft!  I always wanted a calendar to stick on my wall and I took a pass at doing it pre-Survivalism but it didn't pan out.  Then I restarted work on this as the basis of a new feature in Survivalism and now it's ready for release.

There's no need for a big ol' features list as it only does one thing: takes the time of the world and spits out the date in Gregorian format on a wall calendar.

Recipe

Posted Image

6 x Paper
Works like a sign except you can only stick it to walls.

Installation

Requires Risugami's ModLoader

1) Install ModLoader
2) Run MineCraft
3) Stick the downloaded CalendarMod.zip in the ModLoader "mods" folder.

Please report any issues you discover to this thread.

Configuration

Should you need to change item/block IDs then within the mods folder in .minecraft you'll find a folder named "Calendar" and a file within that's called "settings.properties".  You can edit to change the following:
BlockID_Calendar=230 // Calendar block ID
ItemID_Calendar=14900 // Calendar item ID

Download

Link 1: Ad.fly (I'm supportive)
Link 2: Direct (I'm in a hurry/stingy/hate ads and you)

To Do:

  • Make better textures
  • Add SMP support via ModLoaderMP

Is it safe to overwrite the VoodooFrog.class file from your Survivalism mod with the one that comes with this?

Sounds like you are installing this directly into the Minecraft jar file which is unnecessary.  Just drop the mod's zip straight into the "mods" folder.  But otherwise, no, it's the same class.

A fun mod to keep track of in-game time. I like the idea. Simple and useful.
It just gets confusing later on. "Year 3," for example, means you have spent two years in the game. If anyone agrees with me, "Year 0," would make for a better starting point.

Or to think of it another way, you are in your first year.  Remember it's a calendar, not  a measure of the age of the world.  For instance, the world we live in is a teensy wee bit older than 2010 years old (and there was no 0AD).

My god. How much time have I wasted putting mods into the jar?  :blink:

Well, to be fair you can't do it with any mod.  Just ModLoader mods that don't change core files.

I really hope they add things like this and Nandonolts Wallclock into the vanilla - Simple things add to the game.

Great mod, are you planning on adding any other simple touches into the game? If you are I'm sure a lot of people will be downloading it :)

If I can think of any other simple touches that I feel need doing then yeah. ;)
