I am going through a phase of Egyptian Wonder, and wanted to post some ideas about an Egyptian mod.

LIMESTONE: It would be a whitish stone that is mined in sandy biomes
STATUES: Would be made of five qualities (Clay, Stone, Limestone, Gold, Gold-LapisLazuli) and would be made in parts (Hands, Feet, Body, Head) and each piece is made with the said materials.
WORSHIP: If you make a statue, you could pray to that god and would get an artifact based on that god (Eye of Horus, Wings of Isis, Feather of Truth, Scroll of Thoth etc.) and would do something special (Eye lets you see rare ores, Wings let you fly, Feather allows you to revive when you die, Scroll shows you all of the crafting recipes, and allows you to craft one of those items) These items would vary in quality based on the quality of the statue (Eye shows Coal, then Iron, then Gold, then Diamond, then LapisLazuli)
DUAT: If you have enough respect among the gods, you can travel through the Duat back to your house from anywhere.
RESPECT: If you do things the gods like (sacrificing animals to them, fighting the undead, praying to them) then your respect with them goes up, and allows you to get their items and travel through the Duat, if you do things they don't like (Destroying their statues, destroying their items, praying to Apophis) then they will cause trouble with you
CHAOS: If you decide to worship Apophis, they will give you Items of Chaos, which are stronger then diamond, but will drain your health.

This is what I have so far, based on The Kane Chronicles and previous knowledge. I think that this would be great to make, but that is just me.

I really like this idea - not just an Egyptian texture pack, but related mods, too. What about Egyptian-esque mobs as well, like crocodiles, jackals and ibis?

Maybe even a new world generator. Hell, there could be a full overhaul mod of Minecraft to make everything more 'Egypt'. That would be awesome!

A Full texture pack, New mobs, the new blocks and mechanics mentioned in the original post, and with a generator that meant much more desert with a few oases and a large river in each map, this could be awesome.

I think you should also consider adding some aspects of survivilism, so you get the desert feel. You know, that need of water before you die and all that...

I like this idea to, cause im reading the book 2 , at the moment i have read all the books about them =D.Wish i could just have a plain map with just sand and sandstone in because i can only find dirt ones.

Ra - The sun god also the old king of god
Horus - The war god also the present king of gods
Isis - The goddess of magic, wife of Osiris, mother of Horus
Osiris - The god of the underworld, husband of Isis and father of Horus
Nut - The sky goddess
Set - The god of evil
Bes - The dwarf goddess
Anubis - The god of funerals and death
Apophis - The god of chaos, Ra enermy
Bast - The cat goddess
Tawaret - The hippo goddess
Thoth - The god of knowledge
Shu - The air god
Sobek - The crocodile god
Sekhmet - The lion goddess
Ptah - The god of craftsmen
Babi - The baboon god
Geb - The earth goddess
Heket - The frog goddess
Khepri - The scarab god, Ra's aspect in the morning
Khnum - The ram-headed god, Ra's aspect at sunset in the underworld
Khonsu - The moon god
Mekhit - The minor lion goddess, married to Onuris
Onuris - Warrior sky god
Nehkbet - The vulture goddess
Nephthys - The river goddess

If you want to add more to this list of gods (make sure you don't say one i said) then do so

I was thinking of this idea too, except i was thinking ancient egypt could be more of a dimension than a randomly generated place. it could have the same thing yours has except there would be living pharaohs that give you quests, villagers, builders, gods that you can fight/ befriend, have full size pyramids, a new mummy mob, artifacts, and GIGANTIC egyptian cities, filled with everything from churches to small pyramids to tombs. i would really like this idea if it were created.

I would just like to point out that there is WAY more to ancient Egypt then what is told in the Kane Chronicles. In fact, mot of the information in Rick Riordan's books are either false, misleading, or unproven. That aside I love the Idea of mobs and weapons that can add an Egyptian feel to the game!

Just saying, that Geb and Bes are both GODS. not GodESSES. there not girls! if you were in ancient egypt, you'd be killed with stones... or worse... MUMMIFIED! (ALIVE) or even...

anyway, this is a great Idea. and the Hom-Dai should be put in actually... like, if Ur captured by the "villagers" you have it happen. and scarabs. they should be in there too. and heavan. yeh, and you can fly to it.

i like all the ideas so far. maybe an RPG element could be included? it'd be nice to have a civilization mod like millenaire, tale of kingdoms, and others but based on egyptian history would be even cooler to have these 3 mods comapatible for some really cool rpg gaming when in singleplayer. especially if you have other mods like clay soldiers, secret rooms, oh hell just about any mod would be cool with it. i'd love to see this kind of mod done. i'd try myself but, i don't have the skills for it haha. but i'd sure love to try maybe 1 day.

Also new armors like sandstone and limestone maybe. With the new pyramids and desert villages entering the game in 1.3 this Egyptian mod could add a lot to make deserts worth being in.

   when u say most well there are thousands of gods lol but i think u got all of the gods i know lol

im about to finish kanes chronicles and i have searching the web for hours hoping to find a mod that u r describing. i know this probably wont happen cuz i have never made a mod before but i kind of would like to help in some way.

Not really sure how hard it would be but I can imagine that quite a few of those suggestions wouldn't be tremendously hard to code

I would love to help make this dream a realty. I love art so if i figure it out i could help with some textures.
I have some ideas for this:
Mud bricks. loads of buildings were made from them. like mud bricks from millenaire.
Jackals, ibis, cats, scarab beetles and crocodiles
rugs. like the ones poor people sleep on.
Oracles? they might be a bit complicated though.
linen.
Papyrus. Grow it. harvest it. make it. (grows near water like suger cane)
Black soil. The only thing you can grow crops on.
Monuments. to the villagers, priests, soldiers, Pharaohs and gods.
I will tell you if I come up with any more. Hopefully we can get this mod started
My dad creates programs and stuff so he might help with the coding. Might.
