Middle Earth WIP

DOWNLOAD (This is an old version now, I probably wont update until its finished.

WARNING You WILL have to install my version of minecraft included in the .RAR to play this map. -  Read the README - im afraid id you have any problems you'll have to figure it out yourself =p should be fairly straight forward though.

The minecraft is on version 1.2 as YMod hasnt been updated since.

Quote

README:

YOU NEED TO INSTALL THIS VERSION OF MINECRAFT FOR THIS TO WORK!!!
this is purely for people who are interested enough to take the time to install it all =P
Its purely something fun to do when im bored not a chore =D

1. backup minecraft
2. delete minecraft folder from roaming
3. copy .minecraft from this folder into roaming
4  open minecraft, dont need to type in a username or anything, play offline.
5. single player - WORLD 512
6. explore, please bear in mind this is unfinished.

Couldnt find any decent texture packs for 1.2 so youll have to sort that out yourself if you cant stand default =P if you do find a nice one though gimme a shout! :P

Mods used:
MCEdit
Toomanyitems
Fly etc.
Texturepack - Doku[/b]

Did a bit more in my free time, the pit Gandalf falls into along with a antoher natural cavern leading to the endless stair, Im VERY tempted just to move it all back to 1.7 instead of working on an older version and just scrap the huge drops etc, may find a way around it like mods, anyway I talk to much. heres some screenshots

Like most of Moria these rooms are still WIP and subject to change so accepting critique as ever.

Whew, that's amazing dude! :)

I really love LotR and you did great work till now to bring it into Minecraft :)

I always thought about getting started with Moria, but I somehow feared the great hall, 'cause there would be so many things to do (I'm one of those people who want to do everything legit xD).

Anyways, I'm looking forward to your Argonath, that is a project I really want to do myself as well and I think it's possible to do it in a legit way :D

Great work, keep it up :)

Absolutely incredible, I wish I could say more but nothing seems to cut it! I'm curious, what are you using as base images for this world. Only the movies, or are you checking out illustrations as well?

Thanks for the comment :D

The movies are a large inspiration but I have several items of reference including fanart, tolkeins own sketches (the movie kept fairly true to a lot of these) and diagrams etc in an "encyclopedia" style book I was given a while back  but Im also an artist myself so I have a certain amount of scope for what looks good.

Im probably gonna go back and change a lot of the less impressive rooms and add a little more dwarven architecture, they seem bland in comparison to the main hall and the broken stairs (these rooms were made when i was still learning my way with minecraft, not that theres a lot to learn but there a techniques certainly)

2. You were using the DokuCraft pack when you took these screenshots. >.>

Hey there, Ive recently been working on a fairly large project - Moria, with a bit of help here and there from a friend, my aim is to replicate "wonders" of Middle Earth  as accurately as possible although there are of course limitations to scale within Minecraft however I strive to keep the sense of awe tolkein has achieved with his description of these landmarks and as a perfectionist I wont leave a project alone until it has reached that standard.
Anyway, Lets get on with it, Here are some screenshots of my rendition of Moria including Dwarrowdwelf. (still a WIP).

Mods used:
MCEdit
Toomanyitems
Fly etc.
