for those that might be confused, this isn't just a recreation of SMB. this is a tribute to ALL mario games built on the backbone of SMB for NES. story and other stuff is a part of this. [u]Will include a way to skip the story in next version.[/u]
remember, this is still very much a work in progress. some puzzles and challenges might be incomplete, things might not be finished, etc.
move the art folder into whatever texture you want to use instead (i used someone else's texture pack as a basis and am modifying it. eventually it will be a completely custom texture pack by me. The terrain and art files are 90% mine atm)

if you have single player commands you can use the waypoints I have set up. they include all levels in the format: '1-1' for the first level, '1-2' for the second and so on all the way up to '8-4'.

home or start - for start of game
hoohoo - for hoohoo village
wreckingcrew - for wrecking crew mini game
clash (i think ?) - for mario clash mini game (not yet finished)

Added all secret levels. Added Warp Zones (not functional). Placed proper blocks. Started work on the storyline. __4 - added story start. added a few puzzles. finished 8-4. updated texture pack. placed "paintings".

based on: Super Mario Bros. (NES) maps
The game so far is almost a complete and 99% accurate recreation of Super Mario Bros for NES. I basically recreated the two dimensional side view but did what I wanted with the third dimension, the one you don't see in the game :wink.gif: I'm also adding in content from other Mario games as well as my own story to make it more interesting (the palin SMB nes map was just very boring to play). You, Princess Peach, Luigi, and Yoshi just finished visiting Toad in HooHoo village. It was a great chance to use the new flying ship created by the most skilled workers of the Mushroom Kingdom. You had a great time but now it's time to go home. All that's left to do is to lift the anchor and fly back home to the Mushroom Kingdom. What could possibly go wrong?..............

Yeah, sorry! I'll take the bumping down a notch. just wanted to get some feedback :tongue.gif:
I'm trying to use all the textures from the real games. The game is a reproduction of Mario for NES when looking from the side, pretty much 100% accurate. I just messed around with the 3rd dimension in some spots to make it a little more interesting. I'm gonna try to make it feel like a typical mario game as much as I can. eventually i want to add some stuff made by me too, to make an epic mario adventure.
so I fixed and completed all the level connections so everyone should be able to run through the whole game start to finish!! I just did it while fixing everything and it took me like 3hrs to run through and fix everything up. Keep in mind a lot of the connections are still a rough design. Also, sorry for any long ladder climbs or long walks through pipes, those are just filler spots where I plan on putting in challenges and other stuff. Enjoy!
-added secret levels (HINT: secret water levels aren't quite done yet so make sure to bring some ladders or signs with ya :tongue.gif:)
-added warp zones (not functional atm)
-updated texture pack to 1.6 (far from perfect though, gonna focus on it more in the next update)
-added some story line spots but they're not really accessible right now. They'll come in handy in the next update.
-small aesthetic improvements

-made corrections to level dimensions and shapes
-added new screenshots
Nice! Let me know what you think since you've played an older version. I'm a little worried I put too much wandering around in the beginning. I don't want to make the story too heavy, so that it feels like a platformer and not just an adventure, but I wanted to make sure the setup to the rest of the game is good.

It is pretty good. Besides the weird fact that I wasn't able to die, even when I fell deep in a lava pit. You can make the ending more of a go out with a bang ending, not just a kill yourself now kind of thing. Nice way to add a story at the beginning too. and not too much wandering around. You have a nice balance within this map. you left it with a story and exploration with not too many puzzles in the beginning which turned out really good (i absolutely loved the giant console puzzle), and then the classic platforming that is in a mario game. Just small changes and fixes and it will good enough for the yogcast to play it. I just think its that good. One last thing, the big jumps to ladders, so people won't get frustrated because they miss the ladders so much, as a precaution just extend the ladders of big jumps at least 2-3 more.
So the minor things and you can give yourself a pat on the back.!
P.S one other little change. You can probably make every single fall on the platforming part a death pit. try and make it to where you will die so people won't have to grab dirt or sand to tower their way back to where they were.OR make a tunnel on the bottom that goes back to the beginning of the level. that will solve the problem too.
P.S.S If you make a banner I will definitely put it in my signature to support this map.
Yeah, i'll fix the immortality glitch, but all you have to do is eat an apple to fix it. As for the ending I just haven't gotten that far yet...and that won't actually be the end lol. (Yoshi and Luigi are still missing :wink.gif: so it's sort of open ended for now). I did start fixing some of the pits already but there's a lot of them, will be fixed in the next version, promise. Thanks a lot for the feedback!! That's the type of feedback I'm always looking for!
