Discussion about a Minecon 2011 event has made it's way onto Notch's official blog in two recent polls designed to estimate the attendance and location of the event. The most recent tally puts over 30,000 respondents listed as "yes" or "maybe" for attendance. Here are the most recent poll results regarding the interest in attendance of Minecon 2011:
There were also several options for a place to hold the event, and while Las Vegas was listed as Mojang's front runner, they also gathered community feedback. Here are the most recent poll results regarding the location of Minecon 2011:

I think Notch should think outside the box when it comes to picking a location! Maybe a location like Newfoundland! One of the best places to live in Canada! Great people, Great scenery, great food. Over all an Awesome place.
Im liking the sound of Vegas since I live a few hours away :biggrin.gif: Canada would be awesome as well, preferably Calgary, I gots myself a summer/winter home there :tongue.gif:

The name's Hyp, and I am trying to become a better artist!.
I think if it's in the U.S. it should be somewhere central. Maybe Chicago, St. Louis, or Indianapolis. All of those are easier to get to for people in the U.S. than Los Angeles, or New York.
As for you foreigners, I don't really know how it would work for you guys lol.
Indianapolis would be an excellent location, central, and GenCon runs there every year. Local hotels work with them for pricing, I'd see no reason why they wouldn't work with this one.
I really don't think that $90 is that much. The travel expenses is what kills me. I would totally go if I wasn't a broke-ass college student. One more year...
That won't do for America. We're in a economical crisis, they're even joking that our dollar could be the "new peso." All thanks to our looser two-party system; one side does everything wrong, one side does nothing at all. Once side comes up with bad ideas, one side makes them worse. One side has no brains, the other side has no balls/spine. One side breathes lies & makes **** up as they go, the other breaks all their promises & looses track of their goals.
for $90 you could....
*Feed a family of 3 for a week.
*Replace 1/3 of your old kitchen appliances.
*Make a two month student loan payment.
*A month of grama's or grampa's medical prescriptions.
*2 tanks of gas for your car, or maybe only 1.5...
As for location, I like em real small...The Red Lion & adjoining hotels in SeaTac, WA...far enough away from Seattle traffic. Though there is a hugenormous convention center in Seattle not far from a Cheesecake Factory & Pikes Place Market.
Make texture packs? Tired of people telling you to upload better screencaps? Send me a message with a link to your pack & I can help. (Check my Planet Minecraft blogs for photography examples). http://www.planetminecraft.com/member/likalaruku/
Most players are in North America and Europe, so by majority rules, it's most convenient to have it in North America or Europe.
The first one, anyway.
The next year, he could have an Asia-Pacific site. And do this alternating years.
The reality is, no matter what he does, as much content as possible should be uploaded live to facebook or Youtube. The cost of fuel and geopolitical realities of travel through various countries are not going away just because Minecraft is an awesome game.
