Survival at its finest. You are stranded in a desert with no visible resources and no items on you. You have until night fall to find a shelter and hopefully you will be able to find some resources and manage to survive.
Approximate area of the map.
Sand Sea
Caves
Usually lava means something important is there (or maybe underground?)
Your new hell
Sand Tree
Your one tree
Standard survival rules apply. Do not leave the sand wall. You can break any blocks that you find, however, I recommend AGAINST breaking blocks inside a sand cave.
This is a survival map and it is suppose to be on hard difficulty but I'm not forcing anyone to play it as such.
There are some challenges that are similar to my inspiration, the original Survival Island, which include
1. Build a two story house/base made primarily of glass.
2. Build a brick fireplace.
3. Build an automated cactus farm.
4. Build an under ground tree farm.
5. Build an above ground animal trap.
6. Make a diamond mine.
7. Make a cocaine sugarcane farm.
8. I'm not sure so you should give me some suggestions!
There is one more rule and that is, I managed to die a few times so there might be items randomly in the desert... Be a good sport and destroy them. Additionally, when the map was made, there seems to have glitched a few random leaf blocks all over the place. If you obtain saplings from those leaf blocks, they should be destroyed as well. I managed to get most but not all. At the edges of the wall, the map generations seems to destroy thousands of blocks when I first entered the map. Although it is/should be fixed, you may see large indentations in the sand... just you know, ignore that....
Any comments or suggestions would be epic. If you make a "Let's play" or any other video from this, I will gladly link it on this initial post.

To be added in version 2:
1. Random mob spawners to increase the density of mobs at night and to assure death of player if they have not found shelter/protection by first night.
Version 2 will be created when I receive a bit of comments on the map and at least 500 downloads. V2 will be a completely different map and every suggestion given will be considered.

V-1.1: Moved spawn, added lava to some good places to indicate goodies, added a long lost tree farm... Will you find trees or something else...? Bug fix: it should start of as daytime, even though I do have to say that the few minutes that you have of daylight is a cool beginning, I figured I would let you explore a little since I moved spawn
This is what I figured real survival would be like, in my opinion, the game by itself is way too easy. There aren't enough mobs, it is too easy to obtain stone and iron tools and I will probably make it a bit more realistic in version 2. How? I don't know yet.
Edit: Version 2 will also hopefully have more of a story with it, the main problem is that it's very hard to build dungeons in McEdit but I'll figure something out
i dont get the whole "lava is a clue" thing....i look around the lava and thr is nothing, its really hard to dig down as well...any further hints?
got ittttt....nvm....oh and also i forgot to say that this is a AWESOME map! sure to keep me intertained for a good while. But possible suggestion, maybe you could start us with one or two diamond shovels, i dont think it would really change the whole "extreeme survival situation, i could easily see alot of ppl (including myself) getting frustrated with the time involved with useing your man-hands to dig and landscape
"in minecraft the world is infinite, our time is not" to quote someone i forgot lol

in version 2, i will definitely put in some shovels. after seeing potty play, i see the frustration that comes from that... I never actually dug through it, I used the single player commands and MCedit to generate that
I feel like I cheated but If that wall was 2 blocks thick
no one would think to go through both layers to get to the "oasis".
I only broke through because i saw dirt on the otherside.
and I didn't see the "don't break through the huge wall" rule
yeah you were suppose to read the rules and figure out that you weren't suppose to destroy that, it's the boundary of the map, the rest of the map will generate in the same random scheme as any other map. I would have made it out of bedrock but it wouldn't have looked as good, I plan on extending the desert so it takes you 10 minutes to get to the edge on version 2
Otherwise I tried making a shelter under a sand tree,
I've also made a nice shelter next to the lava tree, i'm working on lava security around. and a sandstone roof(4 sand=1sandstone)
this is exactly the reasons why i put both of these items
I'm loving the lava tree, but it's very annoying that when i die i can't find the lava again. ok im going back for a 4th try.
if you are able to make an animal trap, you can get sheep to spawn and use the wool to make a bed which will reset the spawn point
Potty, make sure you keep your voice loud throughout the video, near the end of the video it was a little hard to hear you. And I will be rotating the map in version 2, just for the hell of it :dry.gif:
Okay i restarted again, a creeper poped out of no where and destroyed my sandstone house, seeing as i built it under the lava tree(natural defense of course) it destroyed everything...
But this time i got alot farther and avoided going over the wall. I've made 3 mine shafts and found the caves underneath. mined gold, iron, found dirt!!! wow its so much more valuable on this map. and water! in natural underwater springs.
So i've made some nice grounds next to the lava tree again and some tree farms. But I can't get the dirt to spawn grass and therefore sheep and pigs!! very stressful in the caves with only 3 hearts left.
Great map, i love how it forces us to rethink building, wood is no longer easy to get so recipes kind of change.
I just got done played for like 6 hours on your map. Very nice. Thanks
a suggestion: maybe add an oasis on purpose? or some other similar thing to the lava tree, another goal. maybe something with obsidian walls or something hard to break through, so you would have to mine to get to it.
and oddly there aren't very many monsters attacking my settlement. is there anyway to get harder then hard mode?
Thank you great map (sorry for blabering its 2h30 in the morning ;-) )
i plan on putting mobspawneres everywhere in v2 to increase the density of the mobs
there is a single dirt block that has grass on it that is surrounded by lava btw
this is a brief story about what i face in this map...it is like writing a diary during the day night..my pc is quite slow so i can properly record video in better way..so i just post my recent update in picture..
DAY 1 : GLITCH OR REAL
Sometimes when we are starving especially in desert, we will start to imagine something good/happy things.so i wonder is it for real or just fake? so i decided not to use anything that i found*the weird one) because i thought it might be a trap/something...
so, i will just store it in my inventory
the only thing that i'm gonna use is the sand and dirt..the rest..well..just keep it =p
I continue my journey towards a dead end desert (actually the end is the wall) looking for some water and tree perhaps...and then i found something valuable, sugar canes...i got total of 5..This cane might be helpful throughout my journey...and still my body is covered with continuous flowing of sweat..
end of day 2 i found a pond of lava...lol...and at the middle, i saw a precious-little-dirty-dirt...so i covered all the lava with sands....and then wotld starting to turn dark...I'm quite scare of creepers, so i just dug a hole as a protection...and guess what happen to the dirt before, i forgot to take it because i'm too excited with my journey...
I am just standing in my sand hole, hearing some creepy sound came from spider and zombies...and then it starts to rain, and guess what, my pc is start to lagging...after a few minutes of cursing and continuous spell on my pc, i start to get out from my shelter, continuing my journey to the legendary tree( the tree with the lava)..wet sands make my steps a little bit slow today (due to lagging..=p)..so i decided to spam my space bar in order to show that i am excited...My excitement pays when i found this tree leaves/leaves block (or whatever)..and i thought is this a sign to the legendary-forgotten tree-- maybe.....i found 2 of them in different spots near to each other
the image says indicator...sorry for my mistakes..
then a few sands block away...i saw a tall shadow of something. I try to get there as soon as possible because the weather was turning bad...then it is when i found a large-beautiful tree on top of a glowing-continous-lava waterfall...i sit to ground and stare for the tree for about an hour =p..and the day comes to its end..in front of this tree( actually below), i swear to myself that i will continue this journey to end and complete the challenge gave by KING CiscoQL
to be continued....
FYI, i played it in my own server host by me..sometimes my brother or cousins join me so there maybe some others refugee involve in the future
and as for the items, i will handle a buried ceremony for it =p
Did a first impression. i really like this map. We're even playing it multiplayer
the initial spawn place is design so you walk towards the tree, as shown by your video and potty's video. you guys see the opening and just head that direction.
and i like the desert being entirely of sand, it's suppose to get you lost :biggrin.gif:, i get lost all the time when i was making it... i already have found the seed for V2 and i put the walls around it... its 4000x4000 area and i have no idea what i'm gonna fill it up with... yet but playing on this map with other people is a good idea, on version two, it might be something you have to do just to cover the entire desert

it really is fun to play with multiplayer. I've started the house but I forgot about it being made mostly of windows, so I guess I'll make that afterwards, but here's a pic of what we have so far
These are creeper holes...it appears I've found a new way to collect sand
the house, and to the left is the top of a mine I've started
this is the tree farm. We've been bonemealing a lot!

The tree is fine where it is. It's right on the cusp of difficult/challenging and manageable.
