Regarding the sidegrass, that is simply an error that is happening. You can fix it by deleting the terrain38.properties file in the folder called "ctm"

Also, I'd like to announce some sad news: I will no longer be continuing my Synthetic Reality in 16x and 32x. The reason is that it is very time consuming, and after playing in those resolutions myself, I realized how many things are screwed up. Due to the new forum policy, I am now required to place this license here.
This pack has been created by me and is my intellectual property, with the exclusion of such works as to which I have given credit to below. To use this pack in any form, including but not limited to: creating remix packs, artwork, and videos, you must get written permission from me.
Credits given:
Credit goes to Scuttles first and foremost for the idea of a 256 texture pack and to the artists who contributed to his pack, as some of this pack remains unchanged from his, and I do not know the individual contributors that went into his pack. For the time being, the textures that aren't mine are taken from the LB Photorealism Pack, with permission from Scuttles.
Also, I give thanks to Grugsy , who helped save me from insanity by showing me a way to save time when creating moving textures. Not that it was a fast process after that, but it was comparably zippier.
Personally i dont think it looks very good so far but i believe it might improve and i don't want you to give up,
new texture packs are always a good thing and i like your ambition.
so good luck and i will try it when its finished.
PS: try the mipmapping mod.
What doesn't look good? Constructive criticism would be much appreciated!
[by the way this isnt a "new" pack, I've been working on it for 6 months in between school, work, and the fiancee :tongue.gif: ]
gonna check it out and post some feedback once I play with it a bit. thanks for the cred in your op, but I never would have come up with that if it weren't for Psientist's tut on animation :tongue.gif:
alright... from a first look... not too bad at all.. the lava looks awesome, would slow down the animation a bit for the water though.. it animates way too fast(still water). I would add some more transitional colors to the cobble as well.. it is way too high contrast imo. also.. if you are going to stick with the pinkish sandstone(which I like because it's more natural) I would add a little grain to it, to make it feel more like natural sand stone.

hey thanks for the feedback!
The water animation is the biggest pain in the butt for me lol I have made over 50 different water textures and animations and all of them are either too big or too fast. As far as the sandstone goes, I will certainly add more "sand" to it. thanks again for the feedback!
For the cobble, I'm not sure I understand. If I change the cobble, I also need to change the smooth stone to match it, which is not a big deal, but I am just wondering what exactly you mean with the transitional colors
I may have worded that wrong to get my thought across.. the texture just feels too flat. with the contrast as it is now, the lines are just shallow lines, and should have some depth to them. the stone part is great and has a lot of depth..it's just the grooves that seem off. just my opinion though.
I like it, but i think that the cobblestone tiles badly when viewed from a distance. It is a problem common to many texpacks: Unless the average color of the tile is very consistent, the textures looks like a pattern when it ideally just should be a single color.

I changed the coloring of the stone a bit due to grugsy's comment. Now I have people on both sides of the fence lol!
I may consider changing the cobblestone texture entirely and see which one more people like.
On another note, I am sort of confused as to why this pack has not had more hits since it is available in literally every resolution. :/
i will use it now and tell you what i think of it :smile.gif:
Ok, i tried using the 64x pack, make's my game crash, ok no problem i'll use the 32x pack
also make's my game crash.
I'm sorry dude, i had high hopes but it wont even run? i dont have problems with the photo realism 128x pack, so its not that.
sorry man, but now it sucks :sad.gif:
You have to repatch it I think... I'm not sure. Does it generate an error report? If it does, could you post it here so I can figure out what is goin on? Thanks!
it does nothing, i select the pack ingame, and when i enter Mp or sp, it tries to load but then it crashes.
Oh I think I know what the issue is.
Go back to the patcher, and under the "options" tab, set it to the amount of total memory you have [example: if you have 4gb of RAM, set it to 4096.] It won't use anywhere close to that, but it helps to eliminate the crashes that happen when java runs out of memory. Try this and see if it helps. Also, what are your computer's specs?
I just tried the 64 pack. My system will handle anything I want to throw at it but I choose to use the 64's. I really love where you are going with this pack. The textures do seem flat to me, like the dirt, snow, dirt with snow. My game had a very hard time using this pack. It acted as though I was using the 256 packs without setting a higher java memory. It took as long as 10 seconds to render any textures at all in game when I moved around. Not sure what the problem is but again it acted like I loaded a 256 without setting the changes in Java.
I will keep my eye on your pack as I really do like what you are doing with this. Keep up the good work!!

I am wondering if it is because my animations are more detailed than other packs' animations? The .png for the animations are as small as I can get them to be with them still looking natural.
I will work on this, it seems to be common to my pack. I run an 8gb intel Q8300 with an XFX ATI Radeon HD4890, and the 256 works great, no lag at all, and I also run my server off the same PC while I play. As far as the flatness of textures, it may be from the compression factor since I create everything for the 256 and scale it down for the others. I have my Heap size at 9999999, and my paging file on my PC is 100gb, I don't know if this affects it much. Oh, I may know something for the <256 packs, I didn't scale down the mobs or items .png's.... I will make sure to do that in the next update, it should definitely help the people using the lower resolution versions of this pack.
Sorry for the speech lol
I should have an update for this pack by thursday at the latest, it will mostly be bug fixes like this as well as minor changes to the pack. The big stuff is still in progress. *wink wink*
Since you do use my pack though, can you tell me what you like most/least about it?
I really like this pack. I like the brightness of the stone textures so everything is not so dark, the ores are awesome and the water/lava are just amazing. The only thing I would change as the pack stands right now is the dirt, snow and grass with snow tops. Those textures are just too flat.
One other suggestion is the door. The window decoration, while very nice seems to take away from the door. Too much going on in the glass area of the door. I like having something there but it almost looks like too much with this pattern you have in the glass area.
Looks like all you did was resize the terrain.png. All your lower res texture packs still contain 256 textures in several locations. You will have to resize all the textures to make them work on lower resolutions properly.
I dont know if its Media Fire acting up or something but the 64bit link wont download
Its pretty good, I do like the cobble and smoothstone alot but Like other people have said, the water animation is very fast. Good tho :smile.gif: Definitely bookmarking this thread!

I will add an optional wooden door in the next update :smile.gif:
The dirt texture I have I personally like, but I am always happy to look into other possibilities. I have been working in my garden, maybe I can snap a few shots of the dirt there. Either way, look for an update in the dirt in the next update.
As far as the snow goes, I tried making it a very soft and fluffy snow, but I have an idea how to make it "pop" more. Look for this as well :smile.gif:
Thanks for your input

I resized the terrain.png and the portal, and the custom water and fire both still and flowing. I am going to have everything scaled to each pack in the next update. Thanks for the input! :smile.gif:
Oh my Notch! it looks so beautiful! I Say this is a LOT better than LB's texture (in my opinion)! Too bad i can't have full effect because i have a 32-bit Windows XP :dry.gif:
But i can on my dad's laptop! it made me cry on how beatiful these textures are!
Here's For you! You deserve it! wow that cobblestone, those Bookshelfs! OMG Those Planks!
Aww shucks thanks! I made this pack as an alternative to using the LB pack since there really wasn't any competition for the 256x slot. Keep checkin back for updates :smile.gif:

I have been considering slowing the water down, but today I saw a swimming pool on tv and the caustics were as fast or faster than the ones in this pack. I think it looks fast because virtually every other pack has a slow water animation, that when it is compared to reality is actually too slow. Thanks for using my pack and I appreciate the comment!
Sorry about how long the delay has been, I have been putting a LOT of work into this pack and making it able to be played on any resolution. I will have a tentative release date of next week, but it may come earlier, or it may come later. Just look for the update!
Drfrozenfire's Synthetic Reality Texture Pack
I see that there is an issue with the sidegrass not working properly. I will try to update the links so this isn't happening.

On the positive side, if anyone wishes to continue it for me, I'd give you bundles of diamonds and make you an honorary member of the Union.

Also, I give thanks to Grugsy , who helped save me from insanity by showing me a way to save time when creating moving textures. Not that it was a fast process after that, but it was comparably zippier.

What doesn't look good? Constructive criticism would be much appreciated!
[by the way this isnt a "new" pack, I've been working on it for 6 months in between school, work, and the fiancee :tongue.gif: ]
example
hey thanks for the feedback!
Done. Please tell me what you think of the pack!
You have to repatch it I think... I'm not sure. Does it generate an error report? If it does, could you post it here so I can figure out what is goin on? Thanks!
I will keep my eye on your pack as I really do like what you are doing with this. Keep up the good work!!
Thanks!
One other suggestion is the door. The window decoration, while very nice seems to take away from the door. Too much going on in the glass area of the door. I like having something there but it almost looks like too much with this pattern you have in the glass area.
Again keep up the good work!!
Its pretty good, I do like the cobble and smoothstone alot but Like other people have said, the water animation is very fast. Good tho :smile.gif: Definitely bookmarking this thread!
*****, get in my minecart.
:smile.gif:
Aww shucks thanks! I made this pack as an alternative to using the LB pack since there really wasn't any competition for the 256x slot. Keep checkin back for updates :smile.gif:
I have been considering slowing the water down, but today I saw a swimming pool on tv and the caustics were as fast or faster than the ones in this pack. I think it looks fast because virtually every other pack has a slow water animation, that when it is compared to reality is actually too slow. Thanks for using my pack and I appreciate the comment!
