So far Notch has not made a way to create web so i thought that this could be the layout of how to make it:

Yeah i see what you mean, but if you were to only obtain web rarely from spiders and get string commonly this could be a method to create it.

I guess your right in the four holes left there could be something else there to make it sticky.

Possibly. I would kind of like Spiders to drop Web instead of String, and then replace the Feathers that Zombies drop with String. That way only chickens drop Feathers, Zombies drop String, and Spiders drop Web. Less redundant drops, more unique items.
Looks like my free time is going to be divided equally between Minecraft suggestions and Starbound suggestions from now on.

I really like the idea of string and the middle string being a slimeball. It just makes sense, while also giving slimeballs  a use.

I guess but you wouldn't want the only way to obtain web is to kill a spider, people may like to craft it in a different way rather than waiting for night etc.

Well not all spiders despawn in the daylight. They actually get easier to kill then because you have a guaranteed first hit on them.

Hmm but people may still want to craft them.

But it's spidersilk.  Y'know, the stuff webs are made out of.  Why don't we just assume it naturally has web-like properties, and that when we craft it to make bows/fishing rods, we (use your imagination here) somehow treat it to make it non-web-like?

Having to kill two spiders and a slime for one web seems a bit much.

I guess, and I was more thinking of 4 webs per recipe because of the slimeball.

I wouldn't even mind if it was 9 string for one web (I know, 9 string makes wool, I'm just saying);  I just really don't think there's any need for the slime in there.

The slime is there to make the "Stick" of the web. But it may be a bit to hard to obtain unless Notch made a way of making it easier.

Read my first post on this thread for my thoughts on that.

I guess it makes sense that String is spider silk. So yeah, why not just get rid of the 9 string making thread and have it make 4 web?

I always found it odd that you could craft wool with thread from a spider anyways.
