Hi there, I just started using a different computer while I'm at college, and I downloaded alpha, remembered  I used Texture mods on my home computer. Needless to say I was disappointed that I could not find the .Minecraft folder where the .bin file is located. Also I brought my old maps via flash drive, but have no way to use them. Can anybody help me with this.

Couldn't find anything like this when I searched, if I missed it please link it.

No idea, this was my friends computer before I got it, so allot of his settings are different than mine.

If that might be the case, how would I find these hidden folders?

Here's idea. Go
1. Press Windows Button and R at the same time
2. Type in %AppData%
3. Look for a folder named .minecraft
4. Open Saves folder
5. Paste your worlds into there
6. If there are other Worlds in there, move the worlds in a safe place or rename those worlds to some other world, by changing the number at the end. (World1 to World4)

Best of luck.
Like my new pic? Think it's spiffy? Cool! Just so you know, I made it myself.

Oh Thank you SO much, I had the same problem as him, but for my computer all I had to do was to copy and past %AppData% into my search bar and it found it, but thank you so much!

If you have a Mac, like I do, simply follow the path:
Finder-->Library-->Application Support-->minecraft

This should be the same folder as the .minecraft folder on Windows, containing bin, saves, and all the usual stuff. Hope this helped! :)
