Convert pictures into photomosaic of minecraft blocks

The idea came to mind when we were trying to decorate our 1mk+ long railroad with some posters and sculptures, but realized that it was pretty hard to get things right. So we thought a tool like this would be fun to play with. Its work in progress and I plan a great deal of features, but I wanted to see what you think.
The general guideline is to use high contrast images with large objects. Those will get you the best results. I know there is some issue with transparency, especially with gifs. As this tool was created to help us build things on a server where we play without cheats, I used only blocks that can be mined or otherwise created in fair game. I plan to add ability to exclude some blocks (say gold or diamond) from building and to add more blocks for people who would like to use this in builder mode.
Well, anyway here is the site:
Please post your suggestions and opinions.

I was watching the error log and fixing bugs as they happened XD
I want to add ability to swap the blocks on preview page such that people can control how the result is going to look like. That may help with changing / clearing background etc.

I'd like a few more settings like being able to specify a number of blocks to use and have it set the pixel density for me.
I'll subscribe to this post if you will keep posting updates to the tool here.

Please let me know if you would like to see any other features implemented.

It could be very cool to run new uploads throw an algorithm that ranks how hard an image would be to build. That is, something with lots of gold/diamond/obsidian would be tougher to gather materials for than a wool and dirt picture, so that way users could view these submissions as more of a challenge and not just something cool to do.

I appreciate your comments and feature requests and will look into implementing them down the road! I want to add some simple comment feature next, so people could vent quickly
I have just pushed a new release to the server, in it:
- Convert Text feature - allows you to type a message and create a sign made out of minecraft blocks.
- turned off anti-aliasing for sharper and more vivid results
- fixed multiple bugs, including large images issue, transparent gifs
Someone created this Mario mosaic - I think its absolutely hilarious:

Thanks for a great suggestion!
Done! I have added ability to chose what blocks to use or not for creating the patterns. Please check it out and let me know if there are any bugs. It's been pretty late at night yesterday when I did it...
The so-called "Artistic mode" will still work filtering out all blocks that are impossible to acquire in fair game.

I am thinking to add a way to export the images into Minecraft using some of the available map editors. Looking to add this by the end of the long weekend.

I have added high quality schematics for logged in users. I cant store 3-5MB files for everyone yet, but if you log in with facebook connect, I will store uncompressed image, so when you zoom in you can see each block clearly.
Can anyone suggest me whats the most popular map editing tool? I want to add schematic export for it.

im not surprised that some 1 couldn't make a mod that would let you import a img and do all the pain staking
block placing for you inside a mincraft server but then agane that would take away all the fun XD also i think the sight could use a graph the shows you whare 1 block starts and another 1 ends
