Update 5.7
Changelog:
Added support for a cfg file.
Added support optional debug output
Added support for -Xmx and -Xms options
To enable debug output change debug to true in the cfg and run the respective bat|sh file.
Otherwise just set debug to false and run the AnyCraft.jar directly
Excellent. I'll give it a go. :smile.gif: The support for -Xms and -Xmx is greatly appreciated, I run a 64 bit OS and without those options Minecraft crashes often for me.

Great, it's nice seeing people have a use for this.
I haven't noticed any crashes without the -Xm switches and I'm win7x64.
There seems to be an issue with AnyCraft and Pfaeff's mod with xSmallDeadGuyx's Allocator patch. When starting up with them installed it just hangs on a black screen, oddly enough this can be circumvented by opening it with the .bat and then closing the command line when it begins to hang. Upon placing it into the original minecraft directory it seems to be caused by this error which doesn't crash the normal minecraft and let's it work perfectly fine:

From the looks of that error its a problem with that mod.
AnyCraft only changes where minecraft stores its files without actually modifying minecraft. (it used to modify it which is why its under mods category instead of tools where it should be)
Try opening via the bat, then closing the console right away.
You're not using it on the latest version of minecraft are you?
Because the patch is for 1.5_01.

I'll take a look into this as well.
I know the error is from the mod, but it works fine with the normal version of minecraft. On Anycraft it hangs on a black screen and doesn't even show that error in the error log (it hangs at the same point that the error comes up in the normal version).
Also as I said when I open it with the .bat it'll still hang but can be remedied by closing the command line even after it freezes. Running it with the .jar however stays frozen.

The allocator patch has a problem with the console output I'm using.
I tested with pfaeffs mod and modloader with console: no problem.
After including the patch it causes a hang.
The reason it stays hung up while only using the jar is because closing the console closes the reading of the output.
Once the output is stopped it unhangs.
Just open with the bat and close the console right away for now.
I'll look for a different method of retrieving console output from minecraft.
Also I'll try and get in touch with the developer of the patch if I make no progress.
For now set console=false it solves the problem. (Yes I finally fixed it this time >_<)
But you get no console output.
Updated: AnyCraft 5.7_05

Future:

This is a pretty amazing mod. I've been using for a while now and I mostly use just to keep my past versions, especially when some of my mods haven't been updated yet. Great for mods too. ^-^
Managed to get the author of the Allocator Patch to change how it prints out the error and it seems to have fixed it for now, though i'd still think it'd be good to fix it on your end as well in case another mod causes a similar error.

Thank you. I was going to do that this morning, but you got to it first.
I read up on the posts over on the allocator thread and I'm pretty sure I know what the problem is now.

This may be out of scope of this, however it'd be nice to have some sort of swapping options to be able to change between bin folders or something similar.

Actually it would be easier to just make a new anycraft folder for each vrsion. Swapping versions can cause problems with saves. But i am going to try and make it so you can download an older version if possible and notch keeps old versions as well.
Tl;dr
Point of anycraft is so you dont need bin swapping.

Yeah that's fine, was just an idea for a point of convenience, being able to open the same Minecraft to get to whatever mod package you wanted.
Not sure if this is caused by AnyCraft, I'll do some testing with the normal minecraft.

Edit:
Seems to be doing the same in the normal minecraft, however if you know whats going hinkey i'd appreciate any insight.
Seems to be a generic problem, since its on both check if you can recreate the error, and if its a problem with mods which one.
Looks like execution of code got messed up with registers pointing to nothing.
Try: reinstalling java, minecraft, finding if it is a certain mod, and forwarding that error to mojang support.
Finally, the patch is updated to 1.6.6 but it's in the author's compilation thread here: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/350169-166-xsmalldeadguyxs-mods/

Changelog:

Added additional debug output.
Added defaults for when AnyCraft.properties is missing
Fixed optional console output. (embarrassingly stupid problem)
Thank you. I was going to do that this morning, but you got to it first.
I read up on the posts over on the allocator thread and I'm pretty sure I know what the problem is now.
Possibly: AnyCraft only catches output streams from minecraft, I'll try catching error streams as well and see if it helps.

Glad to be of help ;-)
I was using the jar that didnt have the allocator patch, >_<.
But it is fixed on his end.
Edit: I actually fixed it this time.
Now there is both error and normal output, and NO hang this time.

Fixed hang with the Allocator Patch Mod.
