Hey everyone,

This is my first post so bear with me,
I am trying to run MineCraft for the first time, and I log in, and it flashes "downloading install files" for a second and then goes to a black screen. Here is the error message I get,

I have the latest drivers for my graphics card and my proccesser, and Java, and everything else that might matter. I redownloaded MineCraft.exe and ran it again, still a black screen, and I tried running it as an administrater, still a black screen. Hoping you can help!

Sorry. The black screen issue is one for notch to solve. Since there is no clear error message I cannot even guess at what is going wrong. I can only say that you are one of many. Which means notch hopefully knows of the issue. But that does not mean he can instantly fix it.

One thing you might try in the mean time is deleting the %appdata%/.minecraft folder. This forces a fresh download of the application files from the server. It might not help. but it will not hurt to try either.

Where would I find that? I searched for it in both the Owner and Computer folders and I did not find anything.

type in %appdata% in the address bar or in a run box.

Bah! So close! It loaded OK then went to the Black Screen again. I'm going to restart my computer and then try again.

I deleted the %appdata% folder again, ran MineCraft again, but to no avail. Still wishing I could play this game.

just re-installed Java, deleted the %appdata% folder again, then restarted. Ran MineCraft, still nothing but a black screen.

Can you check if anything appears in your java console ?
You should be able to find it in the lower right corner of your screen in the taskbar.

No in fact it does not. I was trying that out this morning. When I start MineCraft and quickly started Java it wouldn't keep going, like MineCraft is preventing Java from working.

I'm guessing now that it is something to do with the new version of Java... Maybe Notch hasn't updated some sort of requirement? I am trying to give out as much info as possible. If you need extremely detailed PC specs I would be happy to email them to you boran_bok so someone can find the problem to help me and other people.

Doesn't make any sense, I'm able to play it on my brother's crappy PC but not his decent laptop...I really can't explain what's going on. -sigh-
