If the archive is corrupt (minecraft.jar) you should probably delete the version and minecraft.jar files from the bin folder, and then run minecraft, and it should redownload. Then, try installing your mod and delete META-INF (it's not meta imf, its META-INF)
EDIT:
Make sure Minecraft isn't open while you're doing this!
EDIT AGAIN:
Also, when you open minecraft.jar, do open with > WinRAR then look for META-INF and delete that 'tarded thing.
That is a good response, owned, score: Me 1- 0 You
To the person asking the question,
1. Close Minecraft,
2. Go to "run>%appdata%>.Minecraft>bin",
3. Delete "Version.jar and Minecraft.jar"
4. Open up Minecraft and let the files re-download,
5. Close Minecraft,
6. Open up "Minecraft.jar" with WinRAR,
7. Delete META-INF,
8. Drag the ".CLASS" files from ModLoader into "Minecraft.jar",
9. Add the respective files from the mod you're trying to install,
10. Close "Minecraft.jar" and run Minecraft, you're mods will now be installed.
