This is where the files are on Windows computers.

C:\Users\YOUR USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft

Deleting the "bin" and "resources" folder would delete ALL textures, models, and sounds.
You will automatically re-download the files to their default properties the next time you run the game.

If you're on Mac, I do not have a clue where the directory is.
If you're on Windows, "appdata" is a hidden folder in your user files.

OMG thank you i try deleating a mod and deleted everything so thank you

Register or log in to remove.

For future reference, on Linux (or just ubuntu, I don't know) your files are in "\.minecraft"

ok here are three files for un-installing minecraft. they should work with mac linux and windows and will remove the game for whatever user is logged in.

UninstallLinux.sh
rm -r ~/.minecraft

UninstallMac.sh
rm -r "~/Library/Application Support/Minecraft"

UninstallWindows.bat
del /f /s %APPDATA%\.minecraft

Not very hard, perhaps the devs can add this to the launcher in the future

well well well i broke minecraft =( i was installing textur pack and now the game just fails to playand i can dealet the resource folder but not bin it say its open in an other folder when its not plz help :Turquoise:

Yup, same here...

EDIT: Ok so... I fixed it. Here's what I did: First click o nthe windows button in the corner of your desktop, then type into the search bar "%appdata%", open it and there should be a file called Roaming. Click that and find the folder labeled .minecraft and open it. Inside will be a folder called "bin" which you delete. Now try redowloading Minecraft and it should work just fine (just without your old save files unless you copy them)

Seeya in SMP!

I deleted all minecraft files because sound stopped working. Then reloaded and it crashed, so I just deleted the bin file and it now runs again (thanks to above for that) but I still cannot turn the sound on!!!! Very frustrating.

I am running on windows 7 64 bit

lol sorry if this sounds like im calling you dumb but have you tried pressing escape key going to options and turning the volume up?
